Quoted from Toads:To me mint is straight out of the box.
If it's had games played on it it's not mint.
This would be the strict definition of "mint condition". No one has mentioned the origin of term. Perhaps people don't realize what it means. It comes from the world of coin collecting. The mint is where coins are manufactured, so mint condition means the coin is unused, un-circulated and probably even untouched.
So a collectible needs to be in "as new" right out of the box condition to be truly mint condition. Low plays with some normal wear does not cut it. Just as finger oils tarnishing a coin makes it no longer mint condition even if there is no other signs of use or wear.
