Which rock/metal concerts did you guys enjoy the most or have the best time at?

This one is high up on the list for me. Great show!
My younger brother scored 4 free tickets w/ awesome seats.

Operation Rock'n'Roll
Starwood Amphitheatre, Nashville, TN-- July 21, 1991
with
Judas Priest (played last)
Alice Cooper,
Motorhead,
Dangerous Toys,
and Metal Church

o-din,

Perhaps in threads that are majorly derailed, pointless, and/or filled with personal attacks, we should just post a comment or two in long metal grrrowwwwls.
It'll be like code words that metalhead Pinheads understand that means something like
"let's bail from this f'ed up thread, and go check in on our Metal threads".

#221 10 years ago

You guys have been on a roll! Way to go. Lots of good stuff here.
Another "Best of Pinside" thread.
Have a great weekend! \m/

I'm impressed Pin-it, playing some Zebra! Cheers!

Definitely my favorite Louisiana band.
Ok to crank up the volume on some of their songs.
I've been fortunate to have seen/heard them about 6 times over the years.
They are now in Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.

Hey, it's o-din jammin! Err, umm, I mean Dino.

Could be a new avatar. ??
Have a great weekend everyone and rock hard!

Skrippy, vintage4life, and any others in a band,

Do any of y'all ever make your own metal version of classic older songs?

Example: How about that instrumental song Tequila, 1958 by The Champs.
That song went to #1 in 3 weeks, which was impressive for an instrumental type song.

Quoted from Pin-it:

Heres one from the vault

Hey Pin-it,

Just listened to the Zebra song you posted previously. Thanks. Just as good 2nd time around.

July 4th night earlier this week, I got to see Lillian Axe and Zebra (and a couple more bands) at the casino in Marksville, LA. I've seen Zebra many times, but it was my 1st time seeing/hearing Lillian Axe perform. Pretty intense. They get the guitars going good.

Both Zebra and Lillian Axe are in Louisiana Music HOF.

Is this song & band worthy of being included in this great thread?

"Rock Candy" by Montrose, the last song written and recorded for their 1973 debut.

If so, feel free to post the song on here.

Here's a few pics of some of their album covers.

All hail Uriah Heep!

Along with Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep became one of the top bands in the early 1970s and also people like to call these four bands "The Big 4" of Hard Rock.

If we can make requests on this thread, I'd like some Uriah Heep.

We are up to 500 posts to this great Metal thread. Moving to Epic category.

Pin-it,

All I got to say is: You are on a roll! Great selections.

Bummer to hear you got stopped.
Was she a hottie cop o-din, and did she frisk you real good?
Hopefully they didn't purposely escalate the situation and decide to tase you.

#541 10 years ago

If you would have told us you got pulled over and ticketed while heading up to the store to get some Shasta, I would not have felt too sorry for you.

btw, we know you prefer Coke over Pepsi.

Ok now, back to Metal.

Hey Snake,

Did Brain, Maggie, Cabbie, and The Duke really die back in 1981 (err, umm 1997), or was that all just staged as part of a cover-up?

I like the guitar sounds of Saliva.

Heard them when they passed though south Louisiana earlier this week after just coming from Bike Week over by Daytona.

Quoted from rotordave:

Always a good sign when you walk into a bar and the first song they play is Electric Eye from Priest.

^^^^^^^ Agreed.

Well, since I'm not having much success trying to get Judas Priest produced as the next Rock n Roll pinball machine,
I guess I'll just have to go see them in concert at the Hard Rock Casino/Resort in Biloxi, MS on Sat Jul 11th.
Everyone is invited to head down to south MS this summer and join in on the fun.

Quoted from mof:

with his Whitesnake band

Whitesnake will be in Marksville, LA on Sat Aug 8th at Paragon Casino. Might go check that out also.

I also saw that Peter Frampton and Cheap Trick will be down in Biloxi, MS on Fri night August 14th.

Looking to be a good Rock n Roll summer this year.

I saw Butcher Babies live when they passed through south Louisiana a few years ago. Those two ladies can really scream and growl. Definitely qualifies as a high-energy show.

The Snake Pit at the 2016 Indy 500 seemed to be a No Metal Zone.
I don't recall hearing any good old rock and roll coming from over there either.

Hey Gryszzz,

What would you classify that type of music as that they were pumping out from the Snake Pit stage speakers?

A lot of metal songs start out great w/ the guitars shreddin and the drummer goin at it. Then a bunch of f'ed vocals start in and totally mess the song up. Why?
