Wow.....I wasn't expecting this.......what an honor........................I'd like to thank the academy.............the legions of fans of six hundred and sixty six....Steve Harris,.......oh..I know I'm forgetting somebody.......
Carcass' finest hour, no doubt. But being a FL boy, how can you leave out "Slowly We Rot" ??!! Love that FL death. No, not really fast, but vox that are still some of the craziest shrieks to date.
Carcass is on tour ?? Googling that now. Congrats on that. End Complete IS super nasty, I just have a soft spot for debut albums. Especially theirs.
Well hello favorite thread..........and POW ! Pin- it, good sir, many thanks. Possibly the greatest thing I have ever seen. You just dont see spectacular dance moves like that everyday. I can taste the LSD.
Hard to believe its been 10 years.
Raise yer glasses motherfuckers !
One of my favorites:
It Makes Them Disappear.
Dammit Hollywood...been sulking for missing Behemoth (whom I like) and Cannibal Corpse (whom I love) show in Indy couple weekends ago. Couldnt make it. So thanks,...a little vodka in that cut is how I like it.....
All this goddamn snow....FUCK. Has put me in a black metal mood for last month.
Sweden's own DISSECTION : their nasty cover of Slayers "Antichrist".
Freezie..heard that Ringworm on Liquid Metal last month.
So killer.
Been off of hardcore for a minute ( the frat-boy tough guy shit been rubbing me the wrong way)....but this...is NYC authentic tough guy shit.
Such a fine album Hougemeister. I like it even more than Scream Bloody Gore. Chuck's "moment in time" to me, with one of death's best.
Get yer ass back over yonder and let's thrash.
A lot of folks think Rust in Peace is the greatest metal album ever made. Most days I agree. Welcome to our world.
So I was standing outside my truck, smoking a cigarette, jamming on some Volbeat. Really starting to dig these cats. Well, next song comes on and I start getting a little moshy cause I instantly recognize Barney and Ive never heard this one. Volbeat again...WHAT ??!! Don't know how I missed that track...but dammit Jim I'm a lifelong fan now.
Barney makes EVERYTHING better.
RD...how can you put Sacrament over Ashes of the Wake ? No way mang. Used to really dig LOG, until Randy started doing those pussy-ass breakdowns. Hate a fucking breakdown. That Volbeat up there is the 1st and only track I can give a pass to. And that's only cuz it's Barney. I like my metal segregated like a 1950's bathroom. Sing or scream. NOT both.
Who am I ?
D.R.I.
One of my top 5 bands. Literally wore out my "Four of a Kind" tape back in 89. Spike is a goddamn superhero.
Corridor of Covers on Liquid Metal is one of my favorites on there. That, and Bloody Roots. Listener Domination is always a buncha poser bullshit though.
Nobody will ever touch Layne Staley, on any of his shit, but that Grave cover is NASTY !
Quoted from AlexSMendes:SKELETONWITCH!!! one of the best thrash metal bands EVER!!!!
Their drummer for the last 3 albums (and current) is Dustin from Demiricous. Indianapolis boy, and super cool dude. He also fronts an 80's metal band called Sacred Leather and they are mucho badass...
We're no Bay Area, but Indy has always had a brilliantly overlooked metal and especially extreme metal scene. The Devil to Pay dudes are hilarious and super cool.
Glad you enjoyed it man! If you really like it, do em a flavor and hop on to iTunes and buy it!
Had to miss Obituary//Kreator last weekend cause dance competition in Louisville. Pains me to miss Obituary.
At least me and my ribbon placed second.
Quoted from Hazoff:Still making music.
» YouTube video
That's nice man. My one year old started immediately dancing.
Or you Hazoff, Mendes, mof,...Bueller...who wants a Chicago pit ticket? (Just kinda guessing RD is gonna decline, but if he doesn't, all bets are off.)
My kids listen to Vital Remains and Obituary not some watered down dumb shit. We all want the best for our kids right?
Vektor is bad ass. They just played Indy not too long ago. Couldn't make it but heard it was a face melter.
Pretty cool to log on and see this thread still on fire today. Ice-T on Liquid Metal Takeover today and said his favorite death metal track was I CUM BLOOD. Fucking A right Ice, fucking A right.
Night 2 of Reborn in Chaos. Once I put that album on, it's on till the very end.
Entire album is just nasty as fuck from start to finish. My #1 death album ever.
Waited longer for new Carcass than the 13 year wait for GnR. Both were good, but Surgical Steel is just CRAZY GOOD. Saw em last year in Louisville with Crowbar, face still melted off.
Upping yer cardio for a show?
That's TRVE as fuck. Kreator should be opening for them though. The US tour was with Obituary, which also should've been the headliner. Have a great show Kiwis.
These cats played Indy like 3 times last year. Luckily I saw em twice. Hard touring hard riffing Nola nastiness.
Saw Nashville Pussy in 1997...back when they were whippin their tits out, ... at one of my favorite live venues. Now some fucking dueling piano bar bullshit. RIP the Patio.
Goddamnit I'm second. Just been waiting on something like this to buy a record player.
Entering the priesthood and denouncing metal are ya RD? Best of luck buddy.
Death is This Communion is just fucking PERFECT, start to finish, first to last, beginning to end,...amen. I've seen a lot of shows, and they are by far the loudest band I've ever seen.
Never got a chance to see Jucifer though...
D Bow did you pick up the latest HoF album? I've got every one but that one. Hell I might be 2 behind by now. Wondering how good it is.
Quoted from Dee-Bow:I just checked.,The latest was Luminiferous 2015..i just phoned the record store dude and ordered it! I dont have it. Haha.death is this communion is my fav too.! Steve albinni produced it.. So good!
Ha! I'm not the only dude that has my record store guy on speed dial.
Dude. DRI has been on tour since 1985. This is not news. Seen em last 5 years in a row AND Kurt runs the merch table, always has. Crazy to go buy yer shirt from him, chat with him, then see him blow the fuckin doors out, annually.
So... understand
Don't waste your time
Always searching for those wasted years
Face up...make your stand
And realize you're living in the golden years
Devil's Food/The Black Widow. Vincent Price at his finest.
"Such power and dignity. Unhampered by sentiment."
Quoted from rotordave:Nothing wrong with biting your tongue .. like I do everytime a video of some no hope, tiny club playing losers with a spiderweb logo and Cookie Monster spewing unintelligent, unmelodic drivel vocals is posted.
OUCH RD!
Medic!
RD yer my favorite Kiwi no doubt, but I heart my spider web cookie monster stuff, I really do. And man did I despise Sebastian (then and now), even though that gal could really sing.
Last year I bought an obstructed view seat at the United Center cause it was so close to stage. Mistake. This year I've got pit tix.
HEY KOOLAID OH YEAHHHH
I'm not big on the newer hardcore tuff guy shit but damn...the last Hatebreed ain't bad at tall. Pretty nasty...even with the video sucking. Only link to original song I could find. Just buy the album like the video says.
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:White Lion? haha
Look at the sheet music he snagged. I see Tiffany's nice tits up in there too.
Quoted from dirkdiggler:Sweet old lady. Probably 80. Said she was professionally trained and taught piano for over 50 years. She'd like to encourage students to bring music that they wanted to learn and I guess those got left behind. On top of the 50 or so sheet music I must have got 10 piano learning books as well as 20+ full album sheet music books. Crap like Reba and Anne Murray mostly.
LOL.
"Hey Bill what happened to your Anne Murray sheet music?"
"Fuck I don't know."
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:Worth it if you ever listened to Eddie trunk's terrestrial show or house of hair or any radio show, really. Chris Jericho also has a lot of metal dudes on, and I think he asks very unique questions, likewse Mark Maron
No.
Hardest touring band in the history of touring bands. Seen em the last 5 years and buy my shirt from Kurt everytime.
This years show's in Oct....fucking stoked.
My favorite album at 14 was Four of a Kind. Still holds true today. Pretty gd amazing that Spike has beaten cancer numerous times and still has been touring pretty much annually since 1983. Legend.
My iSucks shoppin spree this weekend:
New Dying Fetus, old Dying Fetus, new Obituary, and Judas Priest's Point of Entry. Cannot stop listenin to the Priest.
Only 37 years late TO THAT PARTY HOLY SCHNIKIES Point of Entry is a damn masterpiece.
Yeah Black Breath is the real deal. I've seen Goatwhore 3 times at small venues and they just kill. One time I took my lil grill and cooked about 30 hamburgers at their gig. Was extree cool hangin with Sammy and co knockin back some burgers and beers.
But Ringworm?!?! Would love to see that shit. I know there were teeth left behind at that show. Gnarly.
Rust in Peace set the bar about as high as anyone will ever set it. Perfect album if there ever was one.
Been killin this track lately...
Techno prisoners, TECHNO SHIT.
I'm guessing most of the solos on RIP were Friedman, but would love to see who actually played what. Take No Prisoners riffage is just fuckin insane...so fast. One of the best things about that album is Ellefsons playing and the production (Dave) that allows us to hear all Dave E.'s nuances. Love actually HEARING bass in metal.
Was he double tracking on Five Magics or is that him playing on the top AND bottom? I swear I hear 2 bass lines.
Guess I need to go find a Dave Mustaine book.
Nope. Not double tracked...doh...I'm an idget. That's just Ellefson straight killin one of the best bass riffs in metal history.
Just joshin ya Dood....Ellefson does no wrong, on any track. Dood ya need to get up here and catch some nasty Indy death metal shows.
Quoted from Schusler:Five Magics for me
Actually it's about 60/40 Friedman to Mustaine. Which song/solo in particular were you inquiring about.
Five Magics is KVLLER!
I was wondering who that is blazing wood on that opening riff of Take No Prisoners. So fast...my 1st guess is Marty. But being the egomaniac that he is, can't see Dave letting anyone else play it. Doesn't really matter. That whole album is just perfection.
Confession: I have never heard YouthsinAsia.
All Dave all night right here on Dave TV.
Not a really a rare track, but Kill the King is only available on a couple albums.
The production on Greatest Hits is SHIT but I love how I can listen to Trust, then Kill the King, then Symphony.
60 minutes?? Git it RD! Yer inspiring me. I get 10 min. Need 60. Was *supposed* to start that hour cardio today...funny ya post that.
So what you were at like 600 and then yer like fuck it, I got 20 more minutes. Let's hit that winning number... right?
RD in 09 when I got up to like, 250 and could barely tie my shoes I found a local gym in St. Louis I loved. I would actually do an hour of cardio and then an hour of iron. Worked like a charm.
This is week 4 for me. First 2 weeks I got 4 days in, last week got 5. I do sprints on the treadmill for 2 miles and call it a day. Gotta hit that hour back mang I know I can do it, just a matter of DOING IT.
At gym now. Probably gonna skip that fuckin cardio.
Man I STILL haven't bought Hardwired yet...I know...lame.
I'm totally ok with being the only asshole on the planet that actually REALLY likes Death Magnetic.
What about that damn Stairmaster though RD? We used to run stairs in wrestling, so I still remember the pain.
When you're seeing 20 things at a time
You just can't slow things down babe
When you're seeing 20 things in your mind
You just can't slow things down
THEN ALL THOSE EYES
They're just crowding up YOUR HUMAN FACE
Then all those eyes
Take AN OVERLOAD
Death Magnetic was when Kerry King went nuclear cause Rick Rubin jumped ship. THAT'S why I was so excited to hear it. And it did not disappoint.
Rick Rubin is the OG mothafuckin shiite.
Quoted from Schusler:Pretty much what hear on RIP (guitar-wise) was done by Dave with the exception of Marty's solos.
Thanks Schusler. What I figured. Need to pull up some concert footage of this track, I know. But this is more personable.
It was a joke that wasn't really a joke. Hell yer pops could be younger than me. But just as I suspected... he's DOOD SR. and he's cool af. Me and him are hangin at yer big one no shit. Got flyers yet?
Quoted from rotordave:Getting Ozzy to play Bark at the Moon while the eclipse happens ... genius!!
But listen to him sing! It's terrible. And why is Zakk back in the band with his stupid squealing and carrying on? Sounds fucking ghastly!! Listen to the BATM solo! Jake E Lee would be turning over in his grave! And he's not even dead!!
Bring back the Greek guy!
the end may be near ...
rd
» YouTube video
LOL
Git yer squealys on RD.
"And he's not even dead."---my favorite part.
Jake E. Lee was always a strong #2 behind Randy. Not really sure how Squealy McMountain Man ever got in the band.
Yeah Sharon is such a royal bitch. Everytime I see the daughter though, she gets hotter and hotter to me. Would.
Saw a bad ass Canadian death metal group last night called Dead Asylum. They had a pretty girl on battery...she straight kilt it.
Added over 7 years ago: Errybody meet Nate. Nate screams and bellows for DEMIRICOUS. He also will rise from the dead and fuck you up.
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:I thought that was just a story that got out of control until I read more this morning.. they are in all kinds of trouble, whether or not they did what they are accused of. And sadly, they are probably screwed either way because who's going to believe a bunch of dudes in a band with a name like that!
Yeah. Yesterday it was kidnapping...I made a joke about how they need to forget the strange and kidnap their first vocalist back.
But today it's rape. Haven't read any of the stories yet but the chitter chatter doesn't sound good at all. Slipknot tribute band now anyway; still hope this isn't true.
Dude that is absolutely my favorite Geezer, even in front of NIB...he just kills it. Fucking marvelous.
Hey why don't you guys go stab each other with hockey sticks eh
Tommy Floyd is a badass no doubt.
Murican death:
Can't hit Louisville without stopping in and hollering at Ant at Zanzabar. Probably be there after show.
I caught the end of Powertrip's set at Obituary/Exodus. Dudes killin it.
Tomorrow
Tomorrow
I love you
Tomorrow
You're only a day away
Dooood. As I sit here, gritting my teeth, I must shamefully admit I FUCKING missed it. My wife's meeting ran over 90 minutes longer than it was supposed to. Really my fault for not getting a babysitter. I was so fuckin pissed last night. One of my favorite bands and I missed the last 2 tours....FUCK.
I did catch Powertrip last month with Obituary/Exodus though. That show KICKED MY ASS. Funny, I had some big boy tough guys square up on me at Obituary and DRI and I moved their big asses across the entire pit. Then their buddies high fived me...lol.
GODDAMNIT I MISSED CANNIBAL CORPSE AGAIN FUCKKKKKKK.
You are not alone brotha. Kids come 1st, always. Even if my dumbass had gotten a babysitter, I still wouldn't have been able to drink cause Louisville is 90 minutes away. So that's a negatory right there. With a new album, hopefully they'll tour again next spring/summer.
While we're talking about brutal pits, the most brutal is ALWAYS Slayer...just based on sheer numbers. But the most violent, crazy ass pit I've seen in a decade was Cattle Decapitation. So brutal I stepped out, let those crazy young bucks have at it. It was fists flying. I wasn't in the gym 4-5 days a week then. Now I'm stronger than I've ever been.
I don't see what the big deal about Code Orange is. Maybe I haven't heard the right track. Otherwise no.
Dood I wasn't really referring to you about Code Orange. All my Indy metal bros are all up on it....I guess I haven't heard the right tracks. The one on Liquid Metal right now sucks. But then again so does LM. Really fuckin sick of metal core jeebus. Yer way ahead of most of yer peers there Dood. Veil of Maya motherfuckers....gtfo.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:Gryszz?
Yeah Levi, I wish. That shit sold out in like, literally, a minute.
I don't care if they're AARP and cash grabbin...i would push my mom down a flight of stairs to see that.
Even my super underground dm dudes are braggin on the new Priest. Seems like a must buy. Hope my record store has it, fuck iTunes.
Hey Alex, that Sacred Leather vid I posted up there: Good news and bad news.
Bad news is Dustin Boltjes is no longer battery for the Witch. I know,....they keep losing key fucking players and my patience is about up. Kinda done at this point.
Good news is Dustin, former Skeletonwitch drummist, is vox for that band up there...Sacred Leather. And they are crushing shit.
For fans of: pre-Painkiller Priest, Krokus, King Diamond, 80's trve heavy metal lol.
Fun fact: the biker that they kill in that vid is Nate Olp, vox for DEMIRICOUS (Dustins band before Skeletonwitch), Whiskeytits, Kvlthammer....my favoritest Indy screamer.
Give em a listen!
