Quoted from HEAD_boss_HOG:

yeah you need to listen to the best bands man
megadeth, judas priest, motorhead, iron maiden, saxon, dream theater. make a pandora station and they will fill you in. its great stuff

swampfire, eventually you will get into prog metal - Cynic, Dream Theater, Sons of Apollo

Quoted from AlexSMendes:

Roots Bloody Roots - who's better? » YouTube video
REAL SEPULTURA: » YouTube video

Andreas used to be my favorite lead guitarist - on Schizophrenia, Arise, Beneath the Remains, Chaos AD, he has some unbelievably creative parts. His melodies are all over Arise and BTR, and that's why those albums are so great - Max's tribal rhythms with Andreas' melodies carrying through. When they split, IMO neither band really got better. I don't mind Cavalera Conspiracy, but it sounds a lot like Nailbomb to me - not bad, but not really Sepultura. Too bad they have turned into Deep Purple being all pissed at each other. Sepultura sucks now, and Soulfly isn't my thing either. I need to go listen to Arise right now..

Is there a album that starts off better with 2 killer tracks then Arise and Dead Embryonic Cells?

To me they were right there with Slayer as my favorite band. However I checked out completely when roots was released.

Yeah, kinda me too. That album blindsided me and I never recovered; the start of nu metal was too compelling I guess. Luckily I discovered Testament not too much later...

The Power Hour.

For the record...that's Tommy @ Nitro Pinball!! Badass mofo!

#1913 6 years ago

After powerhour ended in late 80s or early 90s there was another metal show on much music. Power 30 or 60 maybe? I can remember setting my vcr to tape it. I bet I have 50 vhs with 3hrs of metal vids on each one somewhere.

#1914 6 years ago

I used to make power hour mix tapes on vhs! Sitting there with the vcr on record AND pause waiting for the next vid! Haha.. little easier with YouTube now!

The Powa Howa with Michael Williams, classic. I remember watching that as teenage longhair, I believe I had a white denim jean jacket at that point with a Slayer patch on the back, ah to be young again. Although the metal I listen to now is 10x as brutal so I've actually gotten much worse.

#1916 6 years ago

Hey why don't you guys go stab each other with hockey sticks eh
Tommy Floyd is a badass no doubt.

I wore plad under a biker style leather jacket when I was in grade 6 or 7 till grade 12. Inner jacket covered in patches. Hair just about waist long. straight like axl or sebastian.
Now I'm 40 and a bald mother fukr.
Remember the large patches? Probably 12" × 12" I had some killer ones. S.O.D, Priest, D.R.I, Slayer, Maiden, Metallica.

Ahh, good timz

#1918 6 years ago

MMM was my backpatch.

How weird? Game just ended and I start looking for something to watch and found a channel called stingray loud? Seems alright. Institutionalized by suicidal just played.

*edit*Nevermind. They're playing nickelbag so I turned that shit off!

It looks like you guys love the heavy stuff but give a listen to some of this as you might like it. The one thing I get tired of with the above bands is how all the vocals sound the same. TÝR is very very good music with a some serious vocals (hammers in the gym as well when crushing the weights)...

yeah when i heard their first song i thought it was an unreleased led zep track or something

#1938 6 years ago

so if you want to hear something new:

check out my mates band...

i rate the whole album. i played my friend the first track, he remarked that it started like pantera and morphed into slipknot. not sure how accurate that is, but its certainly not the likes of iron maiden or priest etc.
anyway my mate is the vocalist. let me know what you think.

#1939 6 years ago

I really don't like that f***ing xmas songs trend/bullshit that goes every f***ing year...
