now thats some good stuff right there!
Forgive me if I've missed something in the fourteen damned pages of the post I don't have time to read through right now, but if the OP stated anything in the original post, it stated METAL and it stated JAZZ. Now keep in mind that its coming from a life long deathmetal junkie that cant stand lots of bands other people like n the metal genre, but please oh please, check out the album Focus, by Cynic. It's genius. One of my most memorable live experiences ever as well. Somebody please tell the guy I'm not lying.

That is pretty cool.
He should have had the rhythm tone a little different to the lead tone though ... Just sounds a little muddy the way he'd done it. Imagine it with a nice ACDC Marshall rhythm tone ... Nice.

Hey RD ^ nothing like that Thin lizzy cut a ways back in that small studio room!
Just bought this album (Persuader, The Fiction Maze) - their first album since 2006:
...and this one (Primal Fear, Delivering the Black) - I'm a huge Ralf Scheepers fan:

I prefer the original version of that song....
I'm a huge Josh Homme fan, but much of what he does isn't metal by any stretch of the imagination. Mostly stoner rock. Check out Lowrider if you are into that scene.
Now you want metal? Try Meshuggah...
Fair warning, it's a 25 minute song! Been really digging their stuff lately, and I'm not usually one for this kind of thing...

Perhaps you are interested in something from Europe/Germany: AVANTASIA!!!!!!
That would be great music for a pinball game^^
Or if you want to hear them live an Avantasia ballad "Farwell":

Great show.
I like JP more in the 21st century, seemed to be heavier live than before and Rob's voice aged like wine. Amazing
