There's nothing wrong with the wall o stern!
Gary would be proud, Fattrain!

Quoted from pinballsmith:The things one can do with space like that is limited only by imagination. What are the room dimensions?
17.1 metres x 10.5m.
180sqm which is around 2000sqft.
rd.
Quoted from NimblePin:Indeed!!!
I think you really meant to type "400" instead of "100" there RD.
Glad to see you finally got that "rec room" you've always wanted...
*Loud whispers...*
On the main floor of the Death Star!
I couldn't build the Death Star on this occasion as the force is still strong in the Alliance.
However, when I feel the force waning a little, she's all go.

I posted pics of my new room earlier in the thread ... Here's a little update.
Put up the 18 downlights. Three circuits, all with dimmers. Should provide good lux for pin playing.
Carpet went down this week, and I fitted the 8 floor sockets. Each socket is on its own 20amp circuit. There are about 15 wall sockets, three sockets to one 20amp MCB.
Should start moving in pins in about a week or so.

Quoted from OTTOgd:^^^
Holy moley. Nice room.
Quoted from yzfguy:Pinster, since you're going...mind picking me up on the way?
All welcome. Check out the Pincade thread

Quoted from ZippyThePinhead:Is that in your house? Or a warehouse? Nice either way...
It's a new house.
rd.
Quoted from pinster68:Done.
So what's a flight from NJ to NZ run?
Half way around the world in the name of pinball.
I just flew from NZ to Germany to play in the IFPA ...
3/4 of the way around the world to play pinball

Quoted from DCfoodfreak:Fun night for the kids. My daughters bday party.
Nice to see the kids getting into the games. Good stuff!
Nice space too btw.
rd.
Quoted from OHEMIO:Wow you guys and gals have great game rooms. I'm more of an EM guy but here's my current line up...
Cool collection. I'd love a couple of nice EMs for my collection.
I have a new found respect for EMs and SSs after the IFPA10 finals.

Quoted from Pinchroma:Do you have to pass through the shire on the way there?
The shire is about 1 hour from where I live.
If you're meaning the LOTR village thing. That's in Morrinsville.
I haven't been there but people say its cool.
I haven't watched any of the LOTR movies. Not my bag.
I started watching Hobbit on the plane to Germany. After 30 mins I had to stop it. It was so boring. Dwarves and elves and dragons. Zzzzzzzz.

Quoted from bluevegas:How far are you from Blenheim? I have family there and they have been wanting us to visit. I can use them as an excuse to go to NZ, and then just go to your place instead
Blenheim is at the top of the South Island.
Auckland is in the top bit of the north island.
Probably a 1 hour flight. Or a days drive. Would be a nice drive too, down to Wellington then onto the interisland ferry into Picton, then a short drive to Blenheim.
Nice trip.

I was going to shoot some video of my gamesroom that I documented the build of in this thread about 2 years back.
Its been a while coming ... but thanks to TVNZ and their drone, here it is
sweet!

Quoted from toyotaboy:rotordave: So I gotta ask, where did most of your pins come from? container buys, shipped over from Australia? I don't imagine New Zealand was a huge importer of pinballs? (seeing how there's only 38 other pinsiders, and 20 public locations in all of New Zealand)
Most of the 1990s onwards pins and System 11s are NZ new machines. There were a lot of pins bought into NZ (for routing) from the late 80s onwards. I did bring in some containers from Europe about 5 years ago, I still have some of these games at home.
The majority of the 70s/80s games I have bought from the USA. I think out of maybe 30 pins from this era, maybe 5 are from NZ and the rest have been imported by me.
I've never bought a pin from Australia ... The pins are generally dearer there than NZ, and believe it or not I can ship pins from the USA cheaper than I can from Sydney.

Quoted from Blitzburgh99:I am happy to say that I have contributed a game to rotordave's collection....he bought my first pin, a nice example of Road Kings.
And what a machine it is!! Thanks for helping me out with it
Thats one of about 6 system 11s I imported from the USA to complete my full set (because I couldn't get them in NZ ... Either there aren't any, or I couldn't buy theI don't know about them...)
rd
Quoted from Atomicboy:I figured that would be out of fear that would sabotage it or something like that... or maybe I've watched too much Flight of the Conchords...
Hmmmmm yeah always a possibility. All descended from convicts, don't you know ...

Quoted from agodfrey:Here is the start in my 169000 square metre room.
And people thought my room was big!!

I had my Arcade room looking all nice and tidy for a big pinball meet yesterday (The Pukekohe IFPA Classic which I run every year) so I took the chance to make a video.
The new layout allows for more machines. There are 100 in there now with a couple of spaces for machines that will be in there soon.
(for those that didn't see the build progress earlier in the thread, the room is about 2000sqft with its own bathroom etc)
sweet!

Thanks guys. You can all come and visit in March!

Quoted from MustangPaul:3.5' is not enough unless you want to rub butts with the guy behind you and it makes taking the glass off more difficult. Twice that would be a lot better cuz then when those 2 people are playing someone could walk behind them to get to other games down the row. You have to think about people room also.
All this is correct. I am down to 4' between the smaller rows and it is *just* enough. Ideally more is better ... But then you can't fit as many machines in.
Also comes down to how many people you have around. 4' is plenty if you only have a few buds around. However, get 100+ around and you see the deficiencies. I used to have all my machines in long rows, but after having 100+ here in March, grabbed a piece of paper and a ruler and drew up the new layout, which works much better, and fits more games.
rd
When one game room is not enough ... Time for a second one.
My car garage is dead. Long live the car garage. Mind you, I've lived here for two years now and I have never parked a car in there anyway, it's always been full of f**king pinball machines lol
And the Hercules needed to go somewhere ....
Work in progress but the carpet has been done. Eventually all the EM and System 7 games will come over here.
rd
Quoted from AlexSMendes:Finally some pics with pins.... for a moment I thought I was visiting a construction forum.....
I can put up some construction pics too if you want ... I got folders full of them.
rd
Quoted from sleazius:I stuck this in another thread, but here is the batcave with a bunch of games setup in it - still very much a work in progress. Still a bunch of stuff that is unfinished including the floor
If you look at the window in the second picture, that's the inside of the swimming pool.
This whole room is the side of the pool. Very cool setup.
Sometimes when you're playing the pins, the kids swim up and wave through the window. Nice one!
rd
Quoted from ddebuss:Make a separate thread for your build. I'd love to see pictures of your space go up.
I was meaning my commercial property builds .. I'm a property developer. Don't think anyone wants to see those here... Oh what the heck, here's one of those photos.
The pinball room build photos are in this thread already ... Go up the top to the TOOLS and search for my posts in this thread. The house started construction about 3 years back I guess.
Sweet!

I had to move a bunch of pins from the overflowing big games room over to the newly carpeted garage today.
Decided to move all the EMs and the Williams Sys7s and 9s over there to join Hercules.
I also moved over 10 of the Sys11s for the Sys11 World Championship I am running here on the 13th March.
Thanks for the suckers eeeerrrrr volunteers that came down to help. Errol, JohnBoy, Dion, Paul, Mikey! Legends all of you. Cheers!
