    Quoted from Wickerman2:

I can do any game going down by myself with an appliance dolly. I've got it down to a science. Takes me a matter of minutes literally. I just need a way to protect a new set of stairs...

Lay a moving blanket down at the top of the stairs with a couple feet hanging over. Lay game down on blanket, back of game facing stairs. Flip excess blanket up over back of game. Pull the game over the threshold until gravity pitches in, and just walk it down one step at a time, making sure the blanket doesnt get pulled under. Youre in front of the game, letting gravity do the work. You are just keeping it from tobogganing down the stairs.

I moved all 18 of my games into my basement like this. Dollies are for going UP.

    Quoted from dudah:

Very nice! What's in that rack of old analog gear? I'm a sucker for some vintage electronics.

Most of it is stuff I pulled from the dumpster at work and just put lights in. My actual receiver and cd player are in the center, the rest is just made scientist lab candy....

    #7012 7 years ago
    Quoted from MustangPaul:

Great room. I'd put them in the space of the 5th picture, move the pf's to the ceiling and light them up and put the games there. I've lit up 7 of my pf's with strings of 100 Xmas tree led lights that come with a controller with 9 different patterns for something like $10 each.

That's a great idea - they take up valuable wall space!

    #7016 7 years ago
    Quoted from MustangPaul:

Putting them on the ceiling like that really adds moving color on the ceiling, put them like over the bar not over games because of the reflections on the game glass. If you do it use strips of Gorilla tape to hold the wires and bulbs down and cut out flat black construction paper to cover the empty holes of the pf then do the lights and for big inserts use 2 bulbs to light them up. Once you have the leds taped down cover them with tape, that will force all the light to come out of front of the insert.

Wown, that looks sharp! I'm going to seriously think about that. I bought those to actually put IN the games, but I've had KISS about 10 Yeats now....who am I kidding....

    Quoted from SirScott:

Hey Don! Nice gameroom. Maybe the space is skewed because of the angle, but what about this area here?

Actually I was thinking of moving the Foosball table right there and putting the pins against that far wall....I know the wife doesn't want it to look too cluttered...

    #7062 7 years ago

Nice HORROR corner! Can you show us a closer pic of the SS topper?
Thanks, I've always wanted a mad scientist lab. There are several lighting effects in that corner too. The SS topper is simply a plastic candelabra that I spray painted black and put those fake flame looking bulbs in. Prob cost $10 to make.

    Quoted from twoplays25c:

I've been looking awhile for some cool light switchplates for on the wall - and dumping the standard blah beige ones - for something more gameroom/arcade themed. I've seen a ton of them depicting card games, beers, etc., but nothing really pinball related.
I DID find this, and now I can't wait to install these on my opposing walls - it sure adds that 'real arcade' look instead of a home switchplate!

I have one of these, very cool and it makes 2 different noises and lights up. 15 bucks

    Very nice.
I was looking at my pinball wall over the weekend and thinking about a certain brick wall paper to go behind the games.Bringing a similar rustic look inside.

Kinda hard to see, but we got red brick paneling from Menards to use on 2 walls and hung the "PINBALL ALLEY" sign there.... have gotten many compliments on the brick...

    Quoted from xsvtoys:

Your controls are awesome. I took these shots at the Air and Space Museum Udvar-Hazy Center. These were going to be my inspiration for something similar in my game room, but you beat me to it! I hope to build something that cool. You probably can buy some of this stuff in some surplus place somewhere.

Thanks, that's the vibe I was going for. Having grown up watching Lost in Space and Batman, I fell in love with that whole look.

    #8174 7 years ago
    Quoted from AtTheArcade:

Wow! That is an incredible gameroom!
I have a Ghostbusters themed arcade and I've been thinking for years about eventually adding some giant piece of equipment like you have to the left of your bar. Something with lots of lights, knobs, buttons, etc. I figured it would fit the whole crazy tech themes inside of Ghostbusters. Where did you stumble on some of that stuff if you don't mind me asking? I found some neat stuff on eBay years ago but the last few times I've tried searching I've come up dry. I'm not even sure what to type in the search box to get equipment like that.

Thanks! We had a lot of fun putting it together.

I have a large industrial fuse box with the big red throw switch that I'm going to incorporate onto the wall....somehow...

We live near a college, my dad found that 50 year old rack at the Property Disposition building where they sell all the old desks, lab equipment, chairs, everything. I see you're in Charleston, the college there must have a similar setup. That was pure luck, to be honest, but you could build a "rack" from plywood and make it look like rusted metal, there are instructables online and it looks incredibly realistic.
The actual electronic things in the rack and on the wall I've picked up over the years at estate and yard sales, from the trash bin at work, scouring recycle yards for gauges and buttons and things (I've been wanting to do this a LONG time). I wired leds into some, and bought a couple blinking circuits online and wired them up. You can use a string of xmas lights too.
You could trash pick some old switches/buttons/gauges and custom make something too. Again, online sci-fi prop instructables can help get the look you want.
I actually have some leftover things similar to the ones mounted on the wall, I didn't want it to get too crowded but can't bring myself to toss them out.....

My space is small- and a number of titles have come and gone- but it's starting to feel like a game room.

    Nice!

    Quoted from Max_Badazz:

I did it because its dumb .... I wanted a theme in the bathroom that wasn't arcade related.... Vanilla Ice made sense so I picked up a bunch of crap off ebay. I did see him in concert last December at a I Love the 90's show. Even the hand soap is vanilla scent.

That's hilarious....great looking room! I love game rooms with stuff all over the walls, something to see everywhere you look.

found this on Ebarf, for sale, old tape reader for CNC machine...

That's cool looking, I got a reel to reel at a yard sale that I'm going to incorporate into my rack.

Yeah we just did that as well. WIth 2 systems. Dual zone is nice until you have to replace them both

That was last years project for us too. You don't realize how many windows you have until you have to replace them. The joys of a 23 year old builders' grade house. Roof is next year. No now pins next year a guess. LOL

Just replaced all of our windows and new ac unit, about 20k total. I feel your pain.

Question for you guys that have black, open, ceilings and exposed joists and ductwork in your basement game rooms. How did you paint that stuff black?

Rented a sprayer from Home Depot, $99 for 4 hours. I was done w with my 1800sq.ft. ceiling unless than 2 hours.

Pittsburg Paint, two 5 gallon pails of dryfall, had a bit left over for future touchups.

    Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

I’m thinking of doing my game room as an Egyptian temple using panels from this company:
    https://www.ncvcreative.com/
They kind of lean toward haunted house stuff, but I originally considered doing their Space theme (and I just got an Alien so I may still…) Anyway, I’ve seen them in person and not only are they inexpensive, but they look GREAT up close.

I would have expected those to be way more expensive -

I might order some of those for my mad scientist themed bar -

    Quoted from TheNecromancer:

Hopefully it's not taboo to post your room twice but I've changed up some games and added more decor since posting a year ago.
Congo makes a 3rd pin, Dragons Lair along with Ridge Racer make for a new pair of cabinets. It's nice having a driving game.
The mast and sail is all hand made by myself minus the Pirates sign in the canter. The rope tied around the lower mast actually passes through the wall so as to appear wrapped tight around the mast. Added more pirate paraphernalia as well.
Changed out the second Hobbit poster for a LOTR at the entrance to the theater and also upgraded the display to a 98" screen.

Got new Wallside windows, old ones were original to the home (1999). Unbelievable difference.

The old insulation in the frames had dry rotted and cracked, the new ones are polarized and way more efficient. I dont turn the air on until I get home at 4pm, if needed. The house will be at 68 or so when I leave at 7am, and if it's 85 outside, it will be maybe 75 in the house (74 is where i set the a/c).

Even if it gets warmer in the house, it cools off very quickly and we usually shut the air off when we go to bed. Utility bills have been very manageable.

That's a pretty impressive collection. I can't help but notice that only one guest was playing the EM games; do guests play them much or do they gravitate to the more modern pins?

Most of them gravitate to the newer ones first then some head to the SS ones......Ems last usually.

Fall cleaning to make room underneath so i can bring in some firewood. Still have to fold up a pin for the winter so I can move my one armed bandit to its spot. A little too close to the woodstove come heating season...

The Blues Brothers in the bumper car on the wall is cool - the likeness isn't very good, they almost look like the Beatles but still cool.
