    Quoted from NickBuffaloPinball:

Today is my 10th anniversary of the first pin I ever bought, a NIB IM. I did a vid over the weekend to show where I'm at right now, especially since our viewers tend to like these videos. Happy to share here and looking forward to many more decades of collecting:

I’m in Muskoka and with three kids zooming all day my wifi is precious so I won’t get to enjoy your video until I get back home. Where do you buy your NIB pins from?

    Quoted from Coolpinballdino:

Took another video of the collection. Had a couple line up changes since the last one. First vid is the basement, second video is the games I have at my dad's machine shop.

    That’s incredible!

Of your entire collection. List your 5 favorites.

    #16820 3 years ago
    Quoted from Coolpinballdino:

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Top five favorites in the collection are 1 JJP GNR, 2 Iron Maiden, 3 Walking Dead, 4 AC DC, and 5 X Files.

    Awesome!

    Noob question.

Why the outlets in the ceiling?

    #16859 3 years ago
    Quoted from yaksplat:

How do you get power to a group of 6 machines away from the walls and not have an outlet in the floor?

    Ah... makes sense.

    #16862 3 years ago
    Quoted from Dayhuff:

Why not? Trust me, the more outlets the better. I have installed well over two hundred in my basment and I'm probably only using 2/3's of them at the most but the rest are there if I need them.
    John

I’m in the process of building a house and I bought my first pin a month ago. I currently own 3. Maybe I should think about future pin collection expansion. Lol

    Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

Soliciting suggestions on how to get my contractor to get his ass in gear. We have been living in 3 tiny rooms in a 4,000 sq ft house for exactly 1 YEAR as of this coming Wednesday. How do I flog this guy legally

That’s horrible. What’s the hold up? I’m assuming it’s a reno and not new construction. I’m in the process of building a new house that’s significantly larger and we are on the construction process will be 14months.

I would definitely get in touch with a lawyer and see what your options are but it will all come down to your contract with your builder. Your in a tricky situation because he needs to finish the work and if you legally force him to get his ass moving I would be concerned about the quality of his work. I hate hearing stories like that. I hope it works out soon.

    #17119 3 years ago

    Man I fee your pain.

Not a terrible idea to get a quote from another contractor and see how long it would take him to finish.

Talk to your current contractor, hey may be willing to mutually part ways. One guy every couple days is unacceptable.

Update, pictures of work room, storage area and game room.

Looks epic! Feel your construction pain though. I’m working on finishing my home which includes a 4500sqft basement. Material Prices are astounding.

    Quoted from ZooDude:

So I actually am quite curious if you guys with large custom game rooms are including a urinal in your bathroom. I'm on the fence about adding one to my bathroom rebuild/ theme out.
I know spots like Berkeley Mac's have one tucked behind games, but I wanna do a really nice one if I do, just not sure it'll be worth the effort and cash.
So who's got one? Or decided against it?
    Thanks.
    B

I’m in the process of building a home and my basement bar washroom will have a urinal. The cost is not that expensive on new construction, if you have the room near a toilet, the coat should be manageable. I finished the basement of my current house and my only regret was building a large shower and no urinal. 8 years later and I used the shower once. Would have used the urinal many many times. Urinal keeps everything else clean.

    #18475 2 years ago

Lmao what do you mean almost? I always pee in the shower.

Long time lurker in this thread… 2 more months until our home is finished. But I have some progress on what was supposed to be the kids room. It’s now the family arcade. 4 pins, Chexx, table top arcade and a multicade. Led lights in the trays. Carpet was installed today.

This room is under my garage and the concrete slab is heated so I needed a compatible carpet/underpad.

    Quoted from DarthPaul:

Has anyone here done the ping pong table top over a pool table? All the things said about a pool table being a waste of space and not being used very often is true in my case as well. I have modified my Table to reflect the Star Wars theme going on in my Basment, so getting rid of it is a no go, I worked too hard on it and I like the way it looks. If anyone has, which one did you get?

I have done it for years and it works fantastic. Spend money on a good net and buy a table cart for the ping ping table. Load the sections on a cart/caddy and roll to storage.

The table height is higher than normal (2”) but for us it’s good enough. I’m moving in January and buying another pool table. I have lost of open space for a ping pong table too but I will go back to the conversion top. Just watch the beer pong spills between the crack of the party is getting crazy.

Let’s see the Star Wars table.

It’s been a while since my carpet update. This will be the last one until I get my humble collection in the room. Was supposed to be a playroom but it’s now turned into a multi room which will be an arcade and kids Lego/hangout room. Put some lights up today…

Plastic is down while the house is still under construction. There’s a bit of an American Psycho feeling in there.

Walls and ceiling are black, tray ceiling is white.

    Quoted from ChipScott:

I have these in several of these in the recess can lights in my bar/gameroom.
They don't get hot, they last a long time, they offer a really nice blacklight effect ( as well as offer a nice subtle light to the area below). They're not uncomfortable or harsh to look at, and actually they look rather neat.
    I found them on Amazon.com.
    [quoted image]

Sorry for the delay, just moved and finally settling in. I have seen these but they wont work for my room. I have led pot lights that don’t have a removable bulb. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Quoted from orlandu81:

    I used these - amazon.com link »
4 pack, two attached together on each side of the ceiling.
    [quoted image]

This might work for me, I have a 4 tray ceilings in my room where I ran LED lights and there is an outlet in each tray. Thanks for the recommendation.

    Quoted from semicolin:

Almost all of the ebay stuff is garbage. It's important to use 365nm instead of 395nm, because the latter throw off a whole lot of visible light and it ruins the effect. Even the ones claiming 365nm are usually fake, so be prepared to occasionally send back a dud.
I buy mine from http://spiderwebman.net/ - guy has an old-school operation but he's picky about what he sells. I have two of the 12W ones and my goodness does it ever make things pop.

Very good to know. I had no idea there was a difference between them. Do yours get hot? I looked on his website and he’s sold out for now but I’m going to reach out. Thank you!

Does anyone have experience with Blacklight paint? I have a large wall and my daughter/wife we’re going to make a massive mural.

The only thing I can find for pint are tiny little bottles. I went to Benjamin Moore and they said Goodluck.

    Thanks in advance.

Thank you both for the great suggestions and paint recommendations.

    Quoted from RyanStl:

Here is my modest game / arcade room. It's our formal dining room. When we moved to our new house my wife and decided we never use a formal dining room, ever so why not use it as a game room. I have room for one pin, a couple Arcade1Ups, our boardgame / DnD mini fig and prop shelf, and boardgame table (It's a Game Topper, LLC). I know, I need to get UV filter on that window ASAP. My Baywatch is already faded though.

How is Big Buck? I have a friend that likes the arcade game but can't afford one. I though of picking one of those up for him. Thx

    Quoted from RyanStl:

We like it. I did the Dell 19" upgrade with the Tulsa Arcades bezel, which makes it better. The screen is small, but my kids don't care. Not sure if I would put the money in the upgrade if given the choice again. Other have modified the cabinet to add much bigger screens. The guns are definitely not as robust as the arcade. All in all for the faction of the cost of a real cabinet you get pretty much the same game, just smaller.

    Thank you!

I’m a bit of a videophile and I could have bought a handful of nib pins for why I paid for it.

I would start with a budget, and buy one 2-4 years old.

Your room has high ambient light but that’s fine.

Projector central will allow you to compare models and let you know exactly how they will perform for your screen size and light conditions.

    Thanks - come play sometime!

I do have an Aimtrak gun for the Atgames - it's not bad. I just got the yoke and driving box from Buystuff Arcades for it also, really good.

Thanks for the offer. I will take you up on that sometime. I haven’t played any of those pins yet.

I like the gun idea for Legends. I have one as well. No gun though.

    #20717 1 year ago

I used to be an avid Foosball player I prefer the tornado tables. I have a Favi for home and never play it. Only really play when the kids have games going and I will ply doubles with the worse player. Other than that unless you have good competition it’s not great.

Get Fabi if your concerned about kids.

Have a super chexx as well, that’s seems more fun when your not trying. You can miss the net on purpose etc.

I would say they both get used the same amount when we have some kids over. Lots of pre-owned foos around for ? the price of chexx.

Good thing about the Fabi is you can take it apart and make your own custom playfield.

Stay away from junk Foosball tables they don’t last.

Debated sharing but here it goes. Built a home. Revolved the layout around my theater. Im a big movie guy. Excavated under the covered porch for the theater and Excavated under the garage for what was supposed to be a playroom but I took that over with the arcade.

There’s a Gym down there that doesn’t get used as much as it should and a spare bedroom where my friends can crash but the pub is a fun spot. Urinal was top of my list.

Happy to report beer on tap is dangerous but also very inviting.

Big stranger things fans here and that’s where the arcade logo on the door comes from.

Love pinball but 5 pins seem to be my sweet spot.

    Yessir!

    Quoted from Mike_M:

Love your space- very clean look which I really prefer!
Where did you get the Dumb and Dumber wall art?
Would love to hear more about what was involved in creating a basement space underneath an existing garage.

The movie prints are from Legendary Wall Art. You can get any art print in many different panel designs.

As for the excavating under the garage. It was done with original construction. It’s simple to do but there’s some cost to it. It’s essentially a concrete bunker. Behind my dry walled ceiling is concrete. And it’s extra thick with lots of rebar to support the weight of 3 cars.

It is possible to do it to an existing home. We’re going to renovate our old house and do it but the cost to do it didn’t make sense. It would involve complete demolition of exhausting garage. Feel free send me a pm and I would be happy to share more insight.

Also beer on tap and a golf simulator for the win

    The beer tap is dangerous!

    Quoted from blastbeat:

Following up after the last room will be tough . Here's my lineup in the basement. I didn't think I'd have more than like 1 or 2 pins when I moved in. Next house will be different. More space for storage and gaming but these take up half of it.

Nice collection!! Being new to the hobby I haven't had a chance to play a wide body yet and I had no idea they are that wide. Wowzers!! Looks great!

    Quoted from AlexRogan84:

If you are ever through Guelph, they have a Twilight Zone on location at The Western Hotel Restaurant downtown. It is a wide body. There is also an Addam's Family there too for side by side comparison.
Your basement looks really great, btw! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you x2. It so close. I need to get to Kitchener and try that bar out too.

Maple has an absolutely great collection - I played at their open house and sale in the spring and fall.
I'm probably not ready for competition yet - I totally suck.

    Fell the same way. Lol

    Quoted from GorillaBiscuits:

I moved to Buffalo a couple years ago and have been slowly stuffing my basement with games. I was planning on finishing it, but the ceilings are kind of low and also I spent my renovation budget on pinball so it is what it is
Alas BBH was too tall to fit down there, so it now classes up my office.
    Anyhoo, here's my present setup!

    Lol Dave Grohl.

I like Foo and hope they make the pin. But Dave is no great and he would be the first to tell ya. Incredible musician though.

I’m proud to share pics of my finally finished gameroom. I started this project the last weekend in May when I rented a dumpster to clean out several years of junk, boxes, bugs, cobwebs and debris…7 months or so later and a new roof, siding, insulation, ceiling, etc. etc.…I’m finally finished, except for adding another couple pins, if I can! Thanks for looking!

Love seeing all of these pictures of everyone’s Game rooms. Certainly got a lot of inspiration from all of them. Finally wrapped up getting our basement finished. Still have some more artwork to get framed and hung, but this is pretty much the final product. Have a TV area, game room, bar, home gym and 1/2 bath. Here are some pictures!

Room turned out perfect. Great taste in gig posters too. Nice to see another Pearl Jam fan here. I have a 20+ PJ and could other bands framed on my walls as well.

I went with the Uneekor Eyexo and their swing optix cameras. I like that this unit is mounted to the ceiling and out of the way. I'm running them with the GSpro sotware. I'm happy to answer any questions about the setup. Feel free to shoot me a message.

Nice setup. I have the Uneekor Eyexo as well. It's ideal for right and left hand golfers. I see your using GSPro too. Great program.

and a shot of the hall leading to my room. 80's blacklight themed [quoted image]

I'm in the process of adding some black light posters to my room as well. Other than Dirty Donny Couple questions, where's a great place to source them? What type of frame are you using? Any glare issues?

    Thanks, nice collection.

Those are Bryan Kellys pin footies that he used to make.

They are just there to have something between the carpet and the legs so the carpet doesn't get snagged.

Interesting. I have the rubber shoes Uber mine but I can’t nudge my pins much on carpet. Seems like a great idea.

    #22584 8 months ago
    Quoted from Spitfiren8:

Rip the pads off carpet sliders and put them under the rubber footies and nudge away. Makes the games slide like butter on carpet, easy repositioning of games.

Thank you! Got it locally but found it online. Everyone loves it, I wish I would have went with one that was activated by black light.

    Quoted from JBtheAVguy:

Your game room is very slick...I like it!

    Thank you!

    Quoted from Meadows22:

Damn, that's a kickass game room. I love the rug and black wall color. I've been debating on picking up that sign. It's been in my cart for like 3 weeks lol.

I thought about it for a while too. Basically the cost of some pins. Really happy with it, build quality definitely makes me feel better about the price. The animation is awesome too.

    Quoted from Luckydogg420:

Is that a Godard print? I’ve never seen that one before. I’ve got a couple cheap copies of his work. Prayin for seven is one of my favourites
    [quoted image]

Good eye… it’s a Goddard. Over a span of 3 years I went to the Goddard shop in Vegas and I would usually have a couple drinks in me. He was there the one time and signed the back of a few and did some enhancements to the front. I like his work. Have a couple others…

    Quoted from briyau15:

Current picture of the lineup after recently acquiring The Hobbit. Is it blasphemous to not put it right next to LOTR? I do love having Zeppelin next to the LOTR due to the many references in their songs.
My current order left to right reflects when I purchased them as these are all my first purchases. However, I’m now at max space so envision Godzilla and/or Star Wars to be moved in the next few months. Do I then take the opportunity to put LOTR and The Hobbit side by side? I kind of like the current order especially since JJPs have bigger screens so may not want to put that in the middle.
    Decisions, decisions…
    [quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Beauty lineup! Definitley have to move Simpsons and LOTR to the end of the row beside hobbit. lol

    Nice space!
