Instead of asking if a pin has ever been routed, my new question will be if it's ever been 'bathroomed'.

    Awesome pic!

    Looks great!
If you don't mind sharing ....where did you get your Game Time machine from? And where did you buy your multi colored square rug?

Here is one of my secret entrances. It takes a special telephone number to unlock the 600lb pulling force magnet. This was taken almost a year old. The ante room is a little more decorated now. I just haven't had time to reshoot the video.

    Happy Father's Day!

    #15343 3 years ago
    Quoted from Waldo:

Love it! That’s a great entrance as well!

That's high praise coming from you!

    Thanks!

    Quoted from Burley9043:

Were you inspired by Get Smart?

    I loved Get Smart.

I am a big superhero guy. The Superman telephone booth was to balance out my Batpole on the other side of the room.

    #15348 3 years ago
    Quoted from Burley9043:

    That is too cool!

    Thanks!

With the modifications I have made to the house, I am not sure how "sellable" it will be in the future, but oh well. I sure am enjoying it now!

    #15352 3 years ago
    Quoted from Waldo:

I was curious as well so I had two realtors do a walkthru and estimate as to what they would price it. Both thought it added a lot of value to the home even though it’s unique. I think you would be in the same boat.

    Good to know!

    #15353 3 years ago
    Quoted from hlaj78:

Yes, but how do you get out?

If I understand your question correctly, there is another hidden door once you land on the mat to get out. It's about a 25 foot pole, and I hurt myself once for letting go too soon. Oops!

    #15359 3 years ago
    Quoted from xsvtoys:

    Is it 867-5309?
Actually its not all that secret, you can pretty much see the whole number he punches in if you watch closely.
This telephone booth is really cool, this post and video made my day.

We actually almost used the Jenny number, but we ended up going with a different phone number instead. Now you just got to figure out the first couple of digits and you are in!

Glad I could help make your day!

    Quoted from erak:

A little over a year in the making since construction began. But over 2 years with drawings and permits
Some pics already in this thread.

I know the pain. It took forever to get all my secret stuff in and working properly. Lots of tweaking and lots of learning.

Good luck! I am sure it will be fantastic!

    #15388 3 years ago
    Quoted from Pinwiz1985:

Now THAT is some impressive sh^&t! You should do a build video of the mechanics and how you integrated the key pad into the phone to unlock the magnet.

I wish I had all the knowledge to show you how it's done. I just had the idea and worked with someone to help build it for me.

Sourcing the phone booth took longer than the build. I really wanted an original 1970s-1980s phone booth- ala 1978 Superman. It took me forever to find one. A guy in Wisconsin contacted me and sent me a photo of it. It was sitting in the middle of nowhere with the cable still attached to the wooden telephone pole. I asked if it was his or on his property and he just responded with "do you want it or not?" I didn't ask any more questions after that.

Now you need to install one of these chompers too!

    Great movie.

I can't imagine the liability waivers I need people to sign just to get into my gameroom.

Here is a shot of the (released) games that I worked on.
Most of them I was the lead programmer on, some of them I was just one of several programmers, and a couple of them I just did some testing/bug fixing.[quoted image]

Beetle Adventure Racing was the best. I spent so many hours on that. I just played an emulated version last week! It brought back so many great memories. Great work!

Starting to design my game room basement under the new addition. Any feedback is welcome. Ceiling is 10' plenty of room and a blank canvas. The wife gets her rooms and I get mine.[quoted image]

Layout looks pretty good. Lots of room!

I would just say the Shuffle Board and darts area may need a tweak. Based upon how it looks, you can't play both at the same time unless the right shuffleboarder is willing to get hit by an errant dart. I may be looking at it wrong though.

Love the massage room. Are they 24 hours on site?

CHECK MATE! I finally got this to work!

In a nutshell, three special chess pieces need to be on certain spots on the board to automatically open the door. (check mate is optional) I thought it would be a cool way to get to my pins. I guess I watched too much Scooby Doo growing up!

    Merry Xmas!

    Quoted from ReadyPO:

Nice! I was thinking of doing something similar, but am worried about the items on the shelves. Do you have them attached? I noticed they are small and light, is that on purpose too to keep weight off the hinges? Thanks for sharing!

I don't have the items attached yet. They move around a little bit right now. I thought about using ticky tack putty to keep things in place if I needed to though. I am still trying to figure out what I want to place on it. It's a lot of shelving. I needed the opening to be wide enough to move pins through it.

In terms of weight, it was designed to hold 100 pounds of stuff on the shelves.

There is a spring that I can tweak to adjust how quickly the door opens depending on how much weight is placed on it. I keep it a little slower to 1) not have stuff fly off the shelves 2) I don't want to surprise anyone standing next to it and scaring/hitting them.

Now that is the Queens Gambit!

    Thanks! Excellent miniseries.

Use Museum Wax - will keep stuff in place firmly but is non-toxic, doesn’t slime up your stuff, and is reusable.
Very curious about the chess game. RFID tags in the pieces I assume? What’s the logic controller ?

Thanks for the heads up on using Museum Wax. Never heard of that before.

ReadyPO - you are correct. They are magnetic contact switches. Basically drilled and placed small magnets into the chess piece and put the switch under the chess board. When all three switches are engaged, the signal is sent to release the magnet that is holding the door shut.

Sorry about the mess... all work and no play.
I finally got my nanoleaf light panels up!
I’ll get better pictures once the mess is cleaned and the machines are on...
    [quoted image][quoted image]

Looks Awesome! I have been researching those. Couple of questions:

How many sets did you have to buy?
Did you find the adhesive good enough?
Was there any reason you went with the triangles vs the hexagons?

    Thanks!

    #16712 3 years ago
    Quoted from Spagano314:

I have 7 of the hexagons and they are really neat, but I need more of them to make a bigger statement. At $200 for just 7 panels, I don’t really know if I can’t do an entire wall out of them anymore. We went back and forth between the hexagons and triangles. They also make a square, but we didn’t like them. We went with the hexagons because they actually have rounded edges and look sort of like circle when they are lit. Either way, they all look amazing.

How well does the "touch" work on your hexagon panels? That is one of the reasons I am leaning towards them vs triangles. For me the triangles offer more versatility in design, but lack the ability to play "simon". I wish they were cheaper too!

    Quoted from Reznnate:

I have ~400 'favorites' setup on mine. One of my favorite experiences was flipping through all the different arcade games, 2600 carts, etc. Mind you, 95% are terrible games you'll never want to see or play them again, but finding that fun, unknown, great game was a blast.

Curious to know what unknown great games you have found. Mine has 8000+ and when I first got it I was thinking I would play every game to find great games I had never played ... I never made it through 'A'. Lol

    #16777 3 years ago
    Quoted from Reznnate:

There are lots of 'great, less popular' game lists on the internet. It depends on your controls and taste in games. But here is a short list of less 'famous' games I found:
    Rescue (2 joysticks, 1 button)
    Minefield (2 joysticks, 1 button)
    Motorace
    Trog
    Juno First
    Avalanche
    Uo Poko
    Timber
Mad Planets (Tron controls - spinner, joystick+button)
    Zoo Keeper
    Konami Ping Pong
On Atari 2600, some of the recent homebrew games blew me away. For OG carts, Tron Adventure was a nice surprise.

I have only tried Zoo keeper and Trog- great games! I need to try the others this weekend.

Here are some that I enjoy:
    Burning Force
    Cameltry
    Chicken Shift
    Caveman Ninja
    Combat School
    Clash Road
    Progear
    Recordbreaker
    Secret Agent
    Shock Trooper

How did you mount those Nanoleaf things? I bought some for my son’s room and they come with these awful sticker mounts that I do not want to use on the walls I just painted.

I have purchased over 100 nanoleafs and have found the ones that come with it do a good job if you are sticking them vertically to the wall. If you want ceiling action, I went with the large command strips. And yes it gets pricey, but still cheap compared to how much you paid for each panel.

    #18381 2 years ago
    Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

Thanks guys, sounds like command strips are the way to go

Make sure to post some pics after you are done. I would love to see it.

    Quoted from LargemouthAss:

Stupid Question: What is the point of a home slot machine? The fun of slot machines at a casino revolves around the chance to win money. Are you guys actually putting quarters in these and running them like a home casino where you are the house?

    Quoted from jorge5240:

Just for fun. The older demographic loves them. I gotta admit I play them quite a bit. Sometime nice to just zone out and hit the button or pull the handle.
Even without the pay out, there is something about them that is addicting.

Before my grandma passed, she would come over and we would have a "slot tourny". Everyone would pay $5 (for fun) and get 5 mins on the machine. Whoever won the most money in those 5 mins got to keep all the "tourny fee money". Eventually, she told me $5 wasn't enough. So she upped to $20 per tourny. I miss her so much.

Just got Yoda for the game room but not sure how I can make him better. It would be cool if I could make his light saber light up somehow, but I don’t want to damage him too much and don’t want to see individual led lights. I thought about putting mini spotlights behind the light saber or have it shine on him? Is there another forum where I can ask these questions? Thanks
    [quoted image][quoted image]

    Nice!
Where did you get the Yoda stand from? I am looking for something similar.
    Thanks!

    Quoted from TheBananaPeel69:

are slot machines even fun if you technically have infinite money and the ‘prize’ is just your own, limited money anyway?

    They can be.

We do slot machine tournaments. Everyone puts up $20 to 'freeplay' for 3 mins on it and the one who has the most money at the end wins the pot.
