Just got approval from the wife to extend another room to a Pin room next year!!!

Currently have the plans set up with 4(5) pins and a possible Super Chexx Pro option, Plans include JP Premium (on order), MBrLE or CGC#4, Next Spooky Pin ??, WOZ, Next Stern Cornerstone(s) ???

Outside of the pin room flows to the Billiard/Cocktail Game Room, then around the corner to the Theater "lobby" where SW Premium is located (wife may reclaim this space ), and into the Theater/Media/Console Game room

Will update when the pin room is finished

(edited : Changed pin plan to reflect new dimension clearances for glass removal, and barn door closet clearance -- had to lose a pin or two

    Quoted from ramegoom:

Just remember one thing; if your aisle is less than about 3.5 to 4 feet, you won't be able to slide the glass out of the machine. Service nightmare and you'll find out the hard way.
Always consider the side clearance and end clearance with pins.

Very good point, I'll have to come up with something else, my quest for maxing out the pincount somehow completely overlooked this. (Smacks forehead with a Homer Simpson, Doh!)

    Quoted from Fezmid:

Here's what mine looks like. It's in the back of my home theater, and I have room for one more pin if I squeeze 'em in pretty tight. For now, I like the extra room between the machines because it's easier to get back and work on them, so we'll see if I go up to five or not... The bank account won't let me right now, so it's not a question I have to answer quite yet.
Including a picture of the tiered seating in the theater too - it's an older pic, before I had pins back there, but you can see they all go against that back wall.
And finally, a shot from the (dry) bar (which acts as third row of seating), and the movie screen at the front. The perspective is a little off - the screen is 135", 16x9 ratio. A fun place to hang out. [quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Love it...Now just squeeze in a Jurassic Park LOL

    Quoted from CPanther95:

Grandkids, but they are old enough not to worry about the walls. My problem with eggshell is touchups never seem to go well. They stick out like a sore thumb. Not sure if sheen level is much harder to keep consistent - or if they even try from brand to brand.

eggshell. satin...anything besides flat will flash the paint and allow touchups to be seen...

I used to paint my wall satin with little kids, but touchups required entire sections of wall to be repainted and color matching is always harder then...

Go flat, if your touching up anyways later, might as well use a paint that touches up well..

I Swear by Sherwinn Williams Superpaint or Emerald or Pro Classic...not the crap in Home Depot or Lowes or even the cheaper SW stuff at Lowes but the stuff right from the SW store

    Quoted from yaksplat:

Run conduit everywhere. Then you don't need to run every type of wire, you can just fish it later.

I would add to make it large enough also, some of that conduit they sell in the big boxes just isn't large enough for the task of pulling multiple wires especially largeer like HDMI. PVC will go a long way here and you won't have to grease any cables to get it through long runs

I'm all for DIY, but I guess I'd be nervous not of the wiring and plumbing physically working, but of the off chance something did happen (small fire/flood damage) and insurance company sent out an inspector post mishap but refused the claim based on work that wasn't code.

    Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

I was going to ask this - surely there is some sort of window covering (not shades, hardy har) that significantly reduces UV light

We have triple pane argon gas injected glass windows that were put in our new construction home in Texas 3 years ago. They block about 97% of UV light into the home. There is a slight, and by slight I mean very slight green hue to them when viewed from the outside. Double pane argon block about 80%...

    #17331 3 years ago
    Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

Argon leaks out after a couple of years (at least on double pane), so keep in mind to check every so often!

Good point as well, on that note just had ours inspected after 5 years with a meter, still going strong and no seal leaks yet. I'm OCD about preventative home MX

    #17345 3 years ago
    Quoted from Nazz26:

Thank you for your concern. I did view many model homes down here in Florida and some had the same 1x7 window in the master bedroom and that window combined with the 93” sliding patio doors to the backyard pool area (lanai) let in more then enough light. As of resale your are right about picky buyers, when I put my house for sale in NY a potential buyer was complaining to their agent that my couch was to big for the living room and that discourage them from buying the house. Haha. My furniture..really? To that...Move on and let the next potential buyer view the house.

I say build it how you want it, screw resale, someone will always buy it..

When you're racking your brain how your going to add another 12/2 line for a dedicate circuit in your 3 year old home..and then scouring build pics, you realize the builder/electrician added an ENT conduit raceway for future work. It's the little things

    Quoted from JayDee:

It’s amazing to me how codes change from state to state. I cringe at the sight of that. Not knocking you at all. Just used to EVERYTHING having to be in metallic conduit

Yeah, we do things a little different down here in Texas... The rule is usually, what can we get away with ... I think that box is just an access panel to pull romex, I'm of the belief the electrician would have to cut into the drywall to access the breakout tabs and most likely hole through the stud to wire up to the main breaker panel

How many circuits are you running to that room? Just curious as I'm in the process of turning a bedroom into a pinball room... And it's only got one circuit running to it I was going to have an electrician come out and run another line

Moved some pins to son's old room, awaiting Godzilla so will have to adjust soon and can fit 2 more in there, JP and GnR running solo. After GZ comes, I have room for 3 more and then at max capacity. Threw the theater in for XBOX etc gaming...Have to be selective going forward as all of these are keepers for me right now, unless I pull the theater back row and make room for 3 in there lol...I think the wife would strangle me at that point

That’s my dream theatre! Amazing house!

Thank you much! Only took 49 years of hard work

    #19717 2 years ago
    Quoted from ExSquid:

Sick rooms! Let me ask you since you have both. I keep going back and forth wanting to trade my DP Premium for a JP or something else on my wish list. JP is a great game and I like the theme a LOT better than DP. What do you think? Stupid or no?

I think the ruleset in JP is hands down the king of my collection right now, most likely to take second to Godzilla soon. Wth DP, TWD, GnR, SW to follow in that order. While DP is really fun and has more flow than JP, JP is the leader of those two choices. If I had to pick JP or DP Premium it would definitely be JP Premium (Premium a must for the Trex Mech, the Raptor Cage, and the helo spinner)

    #19723 2 years ago
    Quoted from d0n:

Unless you're in love with it, I'd ditch the pool table and put 2 rows of 4 or 5 pinball games, back to back down the center of the room.
I bought and restored a 1970s table but it ended up being used for a laundry folding table. It was fun for about a week. I got rid of it. [quoted image][quoted image]

Nah, lol…fun mixing it up…love pinball, but love billiards as well. One day a couple more rooms in the house will open up…
