My other game room. Available for rent!

IMG_20200517_134204 (resized).jpgIMG_20200517_134209 (resized).jpgQuoted from uphamj:is that an apb arcade, i remember putting many quarters into one of those at bump n tilt growing up.
You got it!
My uncle's friend bought it from a mall in the early '90s. My uncle then bought it from him. Then my other uncle got it from my first uncle. Then I got it from my other uncle.
I recently restored it, but it's actually in fabulous shape.
Could use a capacitor kit for the monitor, but everything actually works no problem. And it's a pretty fun game to boot.
Well I gotta start somewhere.
Having a new house built now, only the footers are in so far.
But I figure about 25 machines (shown by the gray boxes) could fit in the rec room, more in the bedroom and unfinished basement of course!
Bonus feature is a cargo lift that goes to the garage on the first floor.
Will post pics in a year when it's all settled in.
Quoted from littlecammi:Currently owns six pins and plans space for 25+ in the new house. That's thinking ahead.
("But honey, now I have to buy another 20 pins or it will look really empty in that room.")
Haha yes for sure.
Fortunately my dad is overflowing with pins and that'll add some to my space!
Currently my collection is in my former dining room.
I'm currently building a custom home. Hopefully the drop ceiling here was done right! This will all be the pinball area.

My house is finally done and we are moved in!
I was smart and had a cargo-lift built in from that goes from the garage to the basement - this allowed me to move 4 pinball machines in one day, all with the legs on with pin-skates to help maneuver.
I need to decorate quite a bit still...

Quoted from big-c66:Wow that’s sweet Man U are blessed n I would love to to have willi wonka one day.
Thank you, I feel very blessed!
Willy Wonka is my favorite
I hope you get yours too.
Quoted from mark532011:Haha, I love that it looks like the first thing you moved in was the pins!
What else do you need?
Quoted from ImNotNorm:New digs = New game room

Ha! You've got the crazy art of the woman coming out of the painting from Friends
Quoted from ramegoom:Six minute walk-thru of my favorite hangout.
Wow! I really love seeing all the creativity and effort that you put into that space.
Well it took a while to get here!
We were fortunate enough to be able to design a custom home with enough pinball in mind.
Well... I had pinball in mind, my wife doesn't care for basements

Everyone needs a workstation:

And, since I couldn't do a walk-out basement, guess where these doors lead:
PXL_20220912_164037183 (resized).jpg
They lead to a cargo lift which goes straight to the garage!
This guy allowed me to move 4 machines from the first level to the basement in an hour.

I'm super happy with the game room, just need to find some more local pinheads to enjoy it with!
Quoted from Thor-NL:Perhaps because he has an cargo lift, easier as any staircase
Exactly!
I hated even moving a machine up 3 stairs at my old house so I'm skipping the stairs altogether.
Here's the lift in action:
Quoted from CaptainNeo:Superb!. They expensive?
I thought it was very reasonable.
About $6k for the custom design.
Then another $6k for delivery and installation (I'm in Ohio and they make them in Texas).
The technicians delivering and installing were just about the nicest people I've met.
If you're capable and willing, you can save on delivery and installation.
Got it from GalaxyLifts.
Quoted from SNES:I have talked about doing one of these for a long time. Looks great! What kind of weight capacity does it have?
1000lbs. They have options for higher weight capacity and dimensions as well, like if you want to move motorcycles and such. I went with the cheaper option because that's what I needed.
Quoted from amxfc3s:Been going after the driving games lately
[quoted image][quoted image]
Can you play them multiplayer?
I loved San Francisco Rush on the N64
Quoted from briyau15:Ok, so currently getting the old storage room finished. Here’s some pics but the question I’d like to pose is regarding the placement of the recess lights.
I’ve seen pics in this thread where there is one row of lights behind the pins and that’s what I told my contractor (where the row would be the blue line in the one pic). I don’t think the message conveyed to the electrician who did the work today including placing the recess lights where instead of one line there are two sets of two. One light is about 30 inches from the wall, which means it would be right above 2 potential pins.
I have been going back and forth debating if this is a pinball dedicated room vs a more multi purpose room where I can switch between housing pins and have it be a lounge or even a small theater room so I don’t mind the current placement.
Assuming I keep the light placement as-is, would anti glare glass solve my problem if I play with the lights on? I’ve only recently started playing with them off (and just created a poll out of curiosity to which is more common) but have previously played with the lights on.
I do plan to speak with my contractor as maybe there can be a different switch to control the lights closer to the wall separately to keep those off and the ones behind the pins (in the middle of the room) on.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Even with anti-glare glass you'll probably still see some reflection from the light, and maybe some glare on the playfield as well. I'd move the lights if you're worried about reflection at all, but if you like playing lights off then don't worry about it.
Quoted from gandamack:First world problem here, but here goes:
A few years ago I laid down some spendy carpet throughout our upstairs in all the rooms and hallway. One of the upstair rooms has become the pinball room. I got the machines now on this carpet and I cannot stand it. Am thinking of tearing up the carpet in that particualr room so the pins have a solid even surface to sit on. Maybe just some faux wood floors or something. Is it dumb to rip up the expensive carpet in said room for the sake of the pinball machines?
Carpet also helps greatly reduce the noise if that's an issue for others in the house.
Quoted from blimpey:[quoted image]
Holy crap that ceiling!
What do you have, 40ft??
Looks beautiful.
Quoted from xsvtoys:Absolutely fantastic lineup. What is mounted on the wall next to Godzilla?
Nest thermostat?
Quoted from gandamack:Got a contractor coming out this week to talk about constructing a gameroom. When you constructed your room was there anything that you wished you had done before it was completed?
1 20amp circuit per 10 machines so you don't have to worry about tripping it.
Make sure if they add HVAC ducts above the ceiling that it doesn't drop the ceiling too much (in case you care about toppers).
Quoted from AMartin56:I bought a small house when my first wife divorced me in 2020 and it now houses my second wife and our two daughters from our previous marriages. With interest rates so high we aren't moving anytime soon. So my pinball room is VERY small....
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
That's a really cool JP topper!
Quoted from blainerunner:Pinball with a 14th floor view of Manhattan's City Hall and the Brooklyn Bridge in the distance. But I bought a fourth machine (Maiden). Now, AFM lives in the living room.
I included a pic of my Shadow's alternate translite.
[quoted image]
[quoted image][quoted image]
I was so confused. I thought your light fixture was an AFM UFO topper.
Quoted from blainerunner:Just curious. Why did you put a Wh2O translite on a TOM?
I think you're seeing the alternate translate from flyland designs?
