Love this thread! There are definitely some creative and awe inspiring game rooms to drool over. Not sure mine is Anywhere in this league but I tried to use some of my access to technology (I sell OMAX waterjet systems) to make it My game room. While a basement I wanted the theme from floor to ceiling. Doing some creative (low cost) custom waterjet inlays helped make my mini family game room cave a themed destination. lol. Just thought I would share for those that have a smaller allotted space you still can bring the theme full circle. Literally! Armstrong tile inlay with polished aluminum in motion ball inlay. Just wanted to share this great topic!

Yeah, the technology is a bit pricey but the diversity it offers being able to cut Any material from wood to tool steel, from .001 shim stock to 10” thick plate all while holding tolerance in the thousandths of an inch comes at a cost. 20k won’t get you more then time on a machine. They usually start in the 100k range. The hobby ones you find on Kickstarter etc have minimum use other than roughing soft foam or plastic since they typically only run at 5-10 Ksi. A production Waterjet is running at 60,000 psi or more. A bit different. Fun toy though and I have thousands of extremely productive shops running them.

Nice setup Lefman! What slot do you have there? Have a few to keep mama happy myself. Can't have a pinball arcade without a Pinball Slot machine!! I even customized the front with custom cut face plate and inlaid real gold plated pinballs. To much time on my hands.....

Similar to Pinball I always suggest starting with the primary slot forum which would be NewLifegames. Start with their classified adds or simply post a want to buy. Your mailbox will be full in 1 hour. lol Yes you can find these on the net (I have Every Bally and WMS game now) but buying from many of the dealers direct or Ebay will be Really pricy. If you run into trouble or have questions just PM and I can try to help. For me the digital games are the most fun especially with the misses. You can change out the game and bam, new machine. Who would have guessed the best slot games would come from none other that Bally and WMS! Sad......

Hangover is obtainable but a bit difficult as it was a Topper bonus game. Unlike pinball, many slots Require the use of a topper for its primary function. I have seen them though. Good luck!

Slots are Very much like Pinball. You can buy one arm bandits just like Vegas for $200 all the way up to 15K if you want the cool newest hot theme especially if its still in the casino. Example, a $200 standard old style slot machine no problem. If you want to find the same machine in a Pinball Barcrest link I showed that title is Hot and hard to find and pushes upward of 2k Plus. All depends on your tastes and wallet. lol If you let me know what type game you want I am sure I can point you in the right direction and make sure your looking at a fair deal anyway. Its an odd market like pinball.

Or a business opportunity for You! Why not printed backglass image 2x2 tiles. Print over stock Armstrong and let the buyer pick all the premium title examples they want! Add and move tiles as the home arcade changes. Use an all black rail system and only place a few tiles in randomly like the newer modern office areas. Get to work, no more drywalling! lol

Not necessarily. The playfield ceiling represents an Awesome $5,000 solution. Printing an image to a $3.00 ceiling tile would be an affordable, obtainable concept. Backglasses themselves are pure art in my opinion. Wish I had that many awesome playfields though.... Get to work and remember I am a silent partner! lol

What makes them fun is my wife can play with Our money, have the same thrill, yet not walk away with that horrible looser feeling. For us its an inhouse 401K. Money goes in but does not leave. Stack-O-Cash. True, slots Can grow boring and we just get the itch on occasion. An old school 3 spinner will grow old quick but If you go with the Bally Alpha 2 or WMS Bluebird 2 type setups you can Easily swap out the games via software compact flash card to keep it fresh for a Long time. I have Hundreds of titles and it is always an attraction to guests visiting. My only rule is (since I set the internal odds...) if you play with YOUR money I will gladly pay! If you are playing with My credits just have fun. lol

I love and hate this thread. Every time I think my basement arcade looks pretty ok I see the Amazing Home arcades in this thread and frown. Lol. This thread Does however prove with this addition you Really can’t have only one no matter How much space is available!! Some real creative minds in this hobby.

Now that’s commitment! Wouldn’t want to be your helper down those stairs though. I so hope you are looking to keep the look of those original stone walls. What a cool look that would be! Maybe a light dry ice bead blast and some mild touch up but wow that would be an original look. Must say this Is one of my favorite threads also. After several years my wife and I have finally taken the big bold step to Finally overhaul the full basement and make if an Official game room signs and all. From floor to ceiling! It did help having our last child finally move out which freed up room for 6 more machine! Thanks in part to the MANY contributors to this thread with incredible creativity and talent. I will always be envious of the amazing game rooms show here but after gathering a few unique tips and ideas from this thread we hope to have something worthy of calling Our Game Room! Thanks to all for sharing your amazing arcades!

Not to mention. Imagine owning an entire Arcade restored by Bryan Kelly! Crap that would be a fun place to play pinball granted you would be cleaning the glass continuously from all the drool....

Sorry to side rail thread but curious, are any of these game rooms in a condo or apartment? Seems like Pinball and the noises it makes would you would have to have some Really nice neighbors living above/below/aside from you? I remember bringing one into a hotel and setting it up for giggles after a pin show and that did not last long with all the calls. lol Just curious if many of these are shared dwelling arcades.

Or better yet No switches and a simple Alexa and staged names for different areas of the arcade. Way easier to me.

That’s how I have mine setup. Plus it makes it easy as you change things up or move them around. Alexa is just to cheap not to embrace technology.

Not sure I remember which one but there is an add on app in ITTT (if this then that) that allows power up groups to turn on in delayed sequence. Voice control is a really simple setup.

While collecting Many of the amazing ideas from this thread we decided to undergo (literally) a game room expansion Under the house via excavating the entire crawlspace. My hope is to end up with a game room half as nice as some of the ones shared here. Must say I love the commitment to getting that AFM topper to fit. Nice!

We are at 8 1/2 foot deep concrete no block and the man door access is a 12’ Wide opening to the other room. Should fit through well.

Looks amazing but I will Bet if you slide those over one more will fit!! We all started with a roomy pretty collection, then we got out the shoe horn and wedged them anyplace they fit! Looking good!

Looks awesome and great lineup!! Old guy experience, while pins are awesome enjoy Every minute of seeing your kids play with those toys on the floor. They grow up SO fast and you sadly never get those times back. You can find ANY pin Anytime but the your kids hanging out playing on the floor are a one time deal. I miss it honestly.

Amazing games you have there!!! Love the old stuff and mixing up the arcade with some good old fashion skill games. Rather impressive to me with the tools they had how amazing the mechs are in these games. We love the Scientific baseball but then again I love All things odd and unusual!! Oddly, We've been having lots of fun with the simple yet challenging All Star Hockey and Motorama lately lol. Not deep code games but fun to compete!

Just an opinion but aside from pool tables and tread mills shuffleboard tables gather dust faster then any game in my opinion. Fun yes but short lived.

I remember this process All to well!!! lol Best investment I ever made. What we won't do for the sake of pinball.........lol Have 45 machines now thanks to this Crazy commitment.

Not so sure some yes maybe. In general though an inspector simply wants to make sure you don't burn down, flood, or sewer gas your or your neighbors house. Nothing wrong with DIY but Some consideration to proper system function should be observed. The venting in that picture Below drain alone to that diameter make me suggest Don't close that wall anytime soon.....

Bottom line, this image only gives me a scare as (while a Great guy) he has noted several times that he is doing these types of renovations (many) as a side job around the area. IF doing so with this "inspectors slow me down" attitude more then likely this Will come back to haunt him and his family via liability. This is no longer a "they won't catch me" thing. They will!

Wow great find. Not easy as most of them were fully destroyed (especially the top unit) before leaving any casino. Had a guy in OH that was recreating these I almost bought but just didn't pull the trigger. Good find.

Head over to the NewLifeGames slot forum. Kind of an Underground hobby but you can find most anything from around $400 for mechanical to anything. I prefer the newer Bally or Williams slots as we can change out the games to keep it fresh.

We really like the Williams Wonka game currently. Also have all three LOTR games which have some great bonus games. Fun value of the newer slots is you simply swap out the software USB or card and you have a new game. The only old style reel game we still have is the Barcrest Pinball as it’s rare and fits the arcade theme. Others just get old in short order.

I was guessing he was referring to the awesome rum barrel wall paper. Still love that look.
