Quoted from japespin:Wow. Amazing space. The pinball machines feel more like they are a part of the room, rather than dominating the room. Nicely done. Curious as to what you're doing to the room now.
I’ve got big plans for it and it’s going way way over budget but I think it’s gonna be spectacular when it’s done. Hopefully by Xmas.
Quoted from SDTMinSTL:Just wanted to give a huge thanks to those of you that made suggestions on how to scale out and diagram floor plans. I ended up using Floorplanner.com . I had to revert to the legacy version or "old" version because the pinball and gameroom objects haven't been added to the new version with its slicker graphics but I love the results. The screen shot render has some weird things going on like counter and tv height being only shown at default, but other wise it is a super useful and easy to use program.
How did you revert Floorplanner to the old version? Couldnt find that option
My basement is almost done. Here is the first part of the basement. It has a cocktail multicade, pool, darts, Tron Arcade Upright, a few TV’s, and the bar along with my what I’ve flown plane collection.

Then if you can figure out how to operate the secret door it reveals the rest of the Waldoplex.

Quoted from Spitfiren8:Now that is a big door...
Great use of the Tron Legacy Quote
Quoted from PACMAN:VERY NICE!!!
But does your ALIEN work?
I’ve actually never had a single problem with my Alien. It arrived same day as Dialed In and had way more small issues with Dialed In.
Thanks for all the kind words. I started calling it my “Field of Dreams” arcade cause it quite literally broke the bank and makes zero sense to do to your basement. But you only live once. Now excuse me but I have to get to work to pay it off (but really don’t want to leave ).
Thanks to MustangPaul for getting me those pincup and leg lights. They really make the room pop.
Quoted from imagamejunky:Waldo!
Damn that’s impressive. And I love all of the cool lighting. Great job
Thanks, the lighting is Hue and LED blacklights controlled through Crestron. Still have some final controlling to work on there. Wish my iPhone camera could really capture it. The guy who did the plans is having it professionally photographed to add to his portfolio. I’ll share those when I get them.
We are having our housewarming party soon - JJ is a buddy of mine and asked if he could bring Gary Stern as his date. But if any pinsiders end up around Denver feel free to stop by and check the place out. Bring at least one quarter. It will help you get in the room
Quoted from MustangPaul:Dang you flew all those? My nephew was a AWAC Comander now retired and now flies commercial and he's only 42.
Yep I’m the same age and also just retired from the Air Force. Thank your nephew for his service. We are finally showing our friends and family the basement during our combined Housewarming / AIr Force retirement party....
Quoted from beatmaster:damn that's very impressive, the only thing missing are my shooter housing light up.
Those are pretty cool as well.
Quoted from mbwalker:Waldo,
The 'Now Showing' sign...is that actually a flat screen TV mounted in the frame?
Both Now Showing and Coming Soon marquees are flat panel TV’s mounted in a frame.
Quoted from Spyderturbo007:15' x 20' isn't a bad size. I think mine is 11.5' x 23.5'. I have enough for 2 rows of seating which takes into account 2' of space behind the AT screen.
7.5' will work depending on what you do for soundproofing, but it will be close. Mine caps out at 6' 6" when standing on the riser. My tallest friend clocks in right around 6'4", so there is some space.
Keep in mind I lost ~ 2.5" for the clips / channel / DD, another ~2" for the subfloor and the ~10" for the riser. If you aren't doing all that, you won't lose as much space.
Ceiling Height is very important though. You will want to bounce any Atmos height speakers vs direct fire them from the ceiling at that height.
I spend way more time in the theater then I do in the arcade. Hard not to. It’s just so awesome for movies and games (PS4/Xbox)
Quoted from Roostking:Once again the thought put into this game house is insane. I'm in Colorado quite a bit, if you have a party, can I get an invite lol. I promise not be to obnoxious!
The GF after our housewarming party said no more parties
She’ll come around eventually
Quoted from lurch:Normally it wouldnt be an issue but with a $3400 mortgage...... Not as much "FU" money as I had previously. I'll get some cheap arcades over the next few months then consolidate them into a new pin or two as things progress.
I’d happily trade you mortgage payments.
Quoted from Spitfiren8:Been awhile since I moved and i guess its time to put up some pics of my current setup.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Nice game room. What did you do with Vipers and F-35’s?
Quoted from Spitfiren8:I was Aircraft Armament for 20yrs, worked Raptors and Pavehawks as well. Thanks man, you have the most impressive gameroom ive ever seen!
Thanks man.
I was F-16’s in ABQ. Thank you for your service.
Had the place all decked out for our annual Halloween party yesterday. Was quite the hit. Even had the element of real death as the night before a very large Mountain Lion that’s been here the last 3 nights, got within 10 yards of me and my new puppy as we were setting up outside. Turned around right in time before he had a chance to pounce on poor Nugget.
I went with a rings pattern for black light carpet. The pics can’t really do it justice. I thought the stars were too busy.

Very nice. Like the space!
Quoted from CPanther95:I tried to squeeze every square inch possible. In about a month, I'll know if it's too much or not.
[quoted image]
I did something similar with my game room. I can fit about 10 pinball machines and than various other types of games. I’m currently eyeing the gym which is right next door to the arcade. I could easily fit 6 more pinball machines and a few other arcades in there. Who needs to stay good looking once you’re married anyways.
The wife/GF isn’t sold on this idea quite yet.
Quoted from Calfdemon:Wait, you have both the wife and girlfriend living with you?? How did you pull that off not living in Utah?!?!
They have separate rooms in the house.
She’s technically the wife as we did the whole get married on paper but haven’t done our official ceremony yet. GF just sounds so much better
Quoted from jorge5240:Picked up this and so far love it.
Would love a full size version but man they are expensive!
[quoted image][quoted image]
Very cool. Ballpark - What are those things running?
Quoted from jorge5240:I got it for $500.
They were 5k new but just couldn’t make money in a bar scene for ops
also the one I got comes with bocci ball. Which is great for kids!
Man great find!!. Send em my way if you find another one!
Quoted from marioparty34:Here is one of my secret entrances. It's almost a year old. The ante room is a little more decorated now. I just haven't had time to reshoot the video.
Happy Father's Day!
Love it! That’s a great entrance as well!
Quoted from marioparty34:Thanks!
With the modifications I have made to the house, I am not sure how "sellable" it will be in the future, but oh well. I sure am enjoying it now!
I was curious as well so I had two realtors do a walkthru and estimate as to what they would price it. Both thought it added a lot of value to the home even though it’s unique. I think you would be in the same boat.
Few additions and subtractions to the lineup. Still waiting impatiently for my TBL to ship. That will be it on pins for awhile. Would love to find more true arcade games like an Off-Road, Super Mario Bros, Joust, BBH HD or many other ones but the Arcade1ups were cheap and kids seem to love them. The Valve Index VR machine is crazy fun. Also added the video poker and slot machine to the main bar area. I blame COVID for all this.

It’s fiber optic. It was way too bright at first. Had to take a permanent marker to the ends to tone it down.
Quoted from ToucanF16:Quite the set up waldo! How many square feet in your man cave?
The entire basement is around 3500 sq feet but also has a gym and a Jack n Jill type bathroom. But the basement is all mine. Wife gets the other two floors to do with as she pleases. Although I was trying to annex the gym to add machines and somehow that got shot down. Weird how that works.
Quoted from Spyderturbo007:Interesting idea lining the walls of the rack room with Linacoustic. I have a decent amount left from my theater build just taking up space. I didn't do drywall in the rack room, so I'm not sure how effective it would be just on the studs. I do like the idea though of knocking down some of the sound from the rack and the HVAC system.
Beautiful theater by the way. I'm embarrassed to show mine after seeing yours.
Did you build it yourself?
No I’m not that talented. My time was better served picking up extra work to pay someone good to do it right.
Quoted from RetroGamerJP:Its a custom build ... pretty involved but definitely worth it. Here is the tutorial I followed:
Way way beyond my abilities. You ever considered making more?
Quoted from drfrightner:Still working away on our game room but getting closer to getting it finished. Getting there. If you're ever in St Louis stop by www.StLouisEscape.com within the next month we're hoping to add JJP new game and Avengers.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
That’s a sweet space!
Updated video / pics. Will be adding a AIQ here shortly. Will have to decide if I sell a pin or move it to the main area of the basement. GoldenEye is on the hook.
Here is the video.
https://vimeo.com/458771532
Quoted from Chosen_S:Bro, you have one of the most amazing private setups in the world, and your putting arcade 1Up’s in there!? It made my soul hurt to see that.
I know but they are popular. We have been looking for some real arcade games locally but so far nothing on our list has shown up.
Quoted from ToucanF16:waldo , I always love seeing the video of your place. Incredible!
Thanks Toucan. Can’t wait to see yours when it’s done!
Quoted from shirkle:For those who have finished their own rooms- I’m about to drywall. Is ceiling insulation + drywalling the ceiling enough to dampen the sound coming up to the next floor?
I keep reading about double layer drywall with Green a Glue in between, but I think it’s overkill. I’m not looking for silent, just quieting it a little.
My theater has triple drywall green glue in between with a floating ceiling. You can blast the theater and still not hear it. Arcade just has single drywall and you can hear it on the floor above but it’s not too bad but it is an example of what you were asking.
Quoted from MT45:Thanks to the team at JOBLO - if anyone is considering doing this, it was super simple and easy to participate in
You may have a non-pinball collection to showcase as well - they are looking for anything unique really
They reached out to me to feature my game room for a future episode.
Quoted from Skyemont:Does anyone have black carpet in their game room?
Oh yea. Black light carpet is awesome for an arcade.
89139A7D-3D17-4256-A3CA-D7E7B167B638 (resized).jpegCBF5C722-6F6A-41F3-8100-1D95E3EF2616 (resized).jpegQuoted from Skyemont:Very nice but I need solid black. I have gray walls, white trim and black carpet would kick ass. I have checked everywhere. No luck.
Have you called the black light carpet dealers? I believe mine was custom made and it started out as plain black carpet.
Quoted from mcuzz:You have to turn them on
These needs to be a hard and fast rule for this thread!
We are meeting with builders tomorrow. Still don’t know whether to build a game room / theater as part of the house or a separate building.
Quoted from yaksplat:You're not alone. I'm looking at spending an extra 25k on the lumber for my addition.
Try building a full house. Horrible timing on our part.
Quoted from yaksplat:It's a 2500 sqft single floor addition, so it's pretty much a house. But yeah, the timing sucks. I'm replacing every LVL with steel where I can to save cash.
We’re trying to build similar size to what we had in CO (7,000sq ft). Ouch.
Get busy living, or get busy dying....We are finally tossing caution to the wind and gonna attempt to build in these crazy times....We are calling the project the ShawShack Redemption (last name and it literally feels like a scary murder shack). The place is a vintage Florida home on the intercoastal waterway in Cape Canaveral my wife found and talked me into leaving my dream place in Evergreen, CO. Might start its own thread of the build process if folks are interested...
IMG_4319 (1).jpgIMG_4333.jpgIMG_5028.jpgIMG_6207.jpgIMG_6208.jpgIMG_5188.jpg2nd Floor New.jpgQuoted from dirkdiggler:I'm usually pretty good with blueprints but is there no entrance to the theater room? The one door leads to a furnace room.
I have a different guy for the theater - not letting our builder build that out. Once we can afford to do it the theater entrance will come off the snack bar at the back of the theater....
Quoted from mooch:So where is the new designated area for bangin’ hookers?
Funny story with that sign - apparently since the property has sat vacant for so long, a few locals had been bringing ladies of the night back there for years....our agent caught one doing it and he said just that. Since the high tech security sign was added we havent had the issue again
Moved to its own topic. I will update with pics when something happens - it might be awhile - hear it takes 6 months to demo and break ground lately....
Quoted from Junkhauler:[quoted image]
That’s a sweet space. I really miss my ICB and TBL and would love to find a Dragons Lair and Marble Madness.
Quoted from briyau15:This is an absolute shot in the dark but would anyone happen to know what site or stores sell a poster frame that doubles as a hidden door like the one shown here?
[quoted image]
I know the guys that made that door personally. Reach out to Creative Home Engineering in the Phoenix area.
Quoted from billsfanmd:Game room coming together. Was thinking about brick wall paper or some other faux brick but I wen with the providence thin brick from lowes with mortar. Limited to 6 pins and once I finally find ES Ill be at capacity.
[quoted image]
[quoted image]
How was working with that Lowes Brick product? Considering the same stuff or Home Depot’s version.
Quoted from Willys45:Recently moved to a new house - basement game-room finally ready to go!
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Recognize the Heylen light from MOD lighting. Looks great. Used them for our external coach lights.
Shared on the other thread of the entire build of the ShawShack Redemption (last name Shaw and the lot we bought had a 1950’s dilapidated old shack on it) but this has always been my favorite Pinside thread, so felt I had to add to this as well.
Testing out the new arcade carpet with blacklights.
