Quoted from TimBoch:Game rooms are fun for the winter months, but my summers are shared with my backyard golf course.
Nice to see that someone is getting out of the house once in a while...
I really am in awe of the many game rooms that are on here; gosh, some of these look like full-time jobs!
Anyway, here is my somewhat modest entry:
Quoted from mrossman5:Wow. That room is amazing. Looks like an awesome hangout room. Throw many parties?
I used to run a once-per-month poker tournament, which rotated among the various member/players. The tourney would stop at my place four or five times a year, and I would also host the championship tournament. It was a great deal of fun to play cards, drink draft beer, and, of course, play pinball.
Quoted from albummydavis:Excellent. Another Tom Seaver fan. It's makes me a little sad how little he's remembered today, given how truly great he was with some horrible but lovable Mets and Reds teams. On of my favorite memories is going to Tom Seaver day at Shea in 1987
I wholeheartedly agree; truly one of the greats. Even though I am a Cubs fan, I always recognized how special Seaver was and respected his abilities.
I actually own 57 Mitchell & Ness jerseys, which I try to rotate out once a month. The only one that stays displayed at all times is the New York Giants one, as it has been autographed by Bobby Thomson.
Thanks for all of the nice comments!
Quoted from Spyderturbo007:My wife had a party last week with a bunch of her girlfriends. They all decided to play pinball so my wife sent me a picture while I was stuck at work.
My kind of pinball party too.
And popcorn, too!
Quoted from jawjaw:That's an unusual pic!
Agreed; that's something you don't see everyday.
Quoted from weaverj:"one hundred and eighty!" sorry, been watching a lot of premier league on bbc america.
You didn't say that correctly; it's "ooonnnnee huunnnndddrreeedddd aaaannnnn eeeiiiiiggghhhtttttyyyyyy!!!"
Quoted from gliebig:I really want one but don't have the ceiling height
Then I would suggest looking for new digs....
Quoted from ramegoom:Among other things, I have several old phones in my game room in various spots. They're all connected to a Western Electric 30 station switchboard which can link any or all of them together. Switchboard was removed from a motel back in the 60's and sat for years. I found it at an estate sale...took a bit of research, but I managed to get it up and running perfectly. Fun project.
Ah, a man after my own heart!
I, too, have several antique phones in my home. I have a three-coin slot payphone and a Dreyfus just like you, and a Western Electric 302 cradle with separate ringer box, along with a WE50AL, which has the separate ear and mouthpiece. These are great fun, and it's amazing that they all work, considering that some are approaching 100 years old.
Quoted from ramegoom:I just produced this dial tone generator, works on a 12 volt wall wart. If you attach it to your tip and ring wires on your phone, you get a dial tone. Something you might be interested in, for your display phones. Makes it sound like it should. You can even put it inside your phone and run a 12 volt supply to it.
[quoted image]
Very interesting, although I have all of my phones in use at the moment. I use a Dialgizmo, which will generate the proper push-button tone after counting the pulses when a number is dialed, along with a ring booster, which boosts the voltage to all of the phones when there's an incoming call. All are set up using an Ooma Telo. Works like a charm!
Quoted from Captain-Flint:I need more pins...
Personally, I think this room looks just about right...
Quoted from grantopia:Can you spot the difference?
The penguin on top of the table exploded?
Quoted from cait001:woah was that a mural of someone french-kissing pac-man? amazing!
Uh, that would be MS. Pac-man. THAT I can understand
Quoted from PinDeLaPin:Well if your going to have a small collection thats a damn fine collection to have.
Agreed! You would be hard pressed with something better than those three. Enjoy them!
Quoted from Spyderturbo007:Just out of curiosity, don't the slots get boring if you aren't winning any money? Unless some people actually use them to take their friends money.
Hey, the house ALWAYS wins!
I would just tell everyone that whatever coin they put in will be a "contribution" for maintenance and upkeep of all machines.
Quoted from Nikrox2:Getting there! And to think. This all started with one pinball machine! Lol
[quoted image][quoted image]
Ah, yes; that's how it begins for most of us!
Looks great so far; looking forward to the end result.
Quoted from ramegoom:Well, no. It actually starts with two pinball machines. Male and a female. And you didn't realize it when you bought them.
Somehow, they mate and reproduce. The collections you see here are products of offspring.
That's my story anyway.
Well, perhaps you should have kept the lights on...
Quoted from Nikrox2:I don’t have any of those fancy expensive new games ...
And you know what? You don't need any! That room looks perfect just the way it is. Very nice collection.
Thanks for sharing!
Quoted from Burley9043:When my daughter was in high school and we were together in the game room, I told her that one day all of these pinball machines will be hers and she said, "And they will be the first thing I sell." I think my daughter has a different vision.
Please be kind and let us all know when that happens, will you?
Quoted from heni1977:Is it to soon to start calling dibs?
I thought about that for a moment, but I didn't want to sound crass...
Quoted from mannymasy:a small space of the house is for relaxation[quoted image]
Ooooooh; I spy a Safecracker back there...Nice!
Quoted from bangerjay:[quoted image]
Well, that's certainly a pic of a game room. A rather unique perspective...
Quoted from Viggin900:Yeah, that pin "Really ties the room together"
Yeah, I was thinkin' the same thing!
Quoted from dirkdiggler:Cool first game. Don't see it very often. Go Pats!
... and take the Red Sox with you!
Quoted from Murphelman:It's a small slapce but made the best of it.[quoted image][quoted image]
I'd kill for a small space like that...Nice job!
Quoted from jorge5240:Wanted to add roku is amazing. Conventional TV companies such as direct TV and Comcast will be the way of the dinosaur in a couple years.
Yep; had mine for 4 years now, and never going back.
Quoted from Rensh:Small but I am happy and proud of it...
As well you should be. TBL more than makes up for any quantity (it REALLY ties the room together), and besides, you still have more pins than I do.
Nice room!
Quoted from PinBiz:I paid $500 for it 10 years ago on CL, I recommend you buy one with a nice variety of CD's already preloaded..it's a big PITA to load and set them up.
I have the same model jukebox, but with different glass. It's not all that difficult to change the discs; just need to practice a bit doing it. I always change out a few during the holidays. It's also nice to be able to customize it to your own musical tastes (I think I might be the only person who has a juke with Ella Fitzgerald, Mel Torme, Les Paul, and Chet Baker in it!). I also have a program that can make the selection cards for any disc.
Quoted from okgrak:how much does a jukebox like that run?
I've had mine for about 20 years, so I paid a bit more than PinBiz did, but not by much. I've seen others for sale; they're out there. You just have to dig a bit.
Quoted from cait001:Gives that feel of "I ain't got much, but I know how to use every inch of it"
That statement can be applied to a variety of things...
Quoted from 2000_Alum:I think I finally am at capacity[quoted image][quoted image]
No you're not. Get rid of those chairs; no one should be sitting down...
Well, I thought now would be a good time to put up some pics of my updated game room.
South Park and Monopoly are out; Twilight Zone and Batman '66 are in!
GR07 (resized).JPGGR08 (resized).JPG
Just finished a restoration on the GameKing poker machine; added it to the Dean Martin Wild Party:
GR02 (resized).JPGGR03 (resized).JPGGR09 (resized).JPGGR10 (resized).JPGGR11 (resized).JPGGR13 (resized).JPGGR15 (resized).JPG
Cocktail Pac-Man is also a resto; now it's a multicade:
GR17 (resized).JPG
Not a large room, but it's cozy.
Quoted from JonCBrand:Not much of a game room but the pins are right next to my recliner...[quoted image]
Now if we can just figure out a way to play the pins while in the recliner, and it would be damn near perfect!
Quoted from Farmboss:I love the Dean Martin slot. Loved playing it in Vegas. How does it hold up in a home? Any way to play it to make it interesting?
I really like it a lot. I got it for the wife as a gift this past Christmas. That was the first slot I've owned; I didn't even know it existed until I saw if on Craigslist. Did a little research and saw some Youtube game play, and thought it looked like fun and would make a nice addition.
It actually holds up well. Not much you have to do, as it is with most slots. Hit the button and watch the reels go around. Only decision you have to make is during the bonus round, and the animation during the bonus round is fun. Only modification I made to it was I gave it TITO ability (ticket in, ticket out), so it will print tickets when you want to cash out. Also, I set it so that when you press the "Service" button, it gives you $100 in credit. I did the same with the Game King (I just finished the restoration yesterday); tickets printed on one machine can be used on the other, just like in the casino.
I much prefer pinball, but the slots are a nice diversion sometimes.
Quoted from JonCBrand:Do you have a good info/supplier source for those style slots?
The Dean Martin I was lucky enough to get from an ad on Craigslist. The machine itself is a WMS (Williams!) Bluebird 1 (BB1). These are readily available if you do a search, and in all likelihood, the prices may start heading downward, as I understand that the BB2s are ending their useful life in casinos, so those will start flooding the market. GameKings are made by IGT, and are also readily available; I found mine on Ebay.
I'd suggest going to this website: http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php. It's kind of the Pinside for slot machines. People are always putting up ads for machines and parts and things, and there are a lot of links to vendors.
Good luck!
Quoted from scampcamp:My 1st memory of pinball was from a bowling alley so when I read in the paper a small local bowling alley was closing I went & picked 1 of these hand dryer/blowers.
I thought it may look nice hanging on the wall in the pinball room. Maybe I'll wire up the fan & lights for nostalgia.
[quoted image][quoted image]
Those old Brunswick ones were great; the fans were nice and strong.
Quoted from Esoteric_rt:Yeah don't get me wrong, I've been to Hong Kong, great place, friendly people. But pretty concerning with the new laws from the mainland
Yes; I too visited Hong Kong several years ago when I was touring with a band. It is a wonderful place.
I recall one of our guides apologizing to me for the odor that was coming off of the water, which she blamed on the pollution from the mainland. I said, "Listen, I'm from New Jersey. You guys have nothin' on us!"
Quoted from Mahoyvan:Just another case of Epic vs Reality.
Cuz I can tell you mine always looks like a dumpster fire between project pins, project floors, walls, lighting and so on and never enough cash to dedicate to finishing anything!
Who’s half cooked with me!?
[quoted image]
Well, you have to admit, that rug really ties the room together, does it not?
Quoted from pinwiztom:Making progress, slow but sure, had to pour some more thin set to level out a hump in original concrete basement floor.
[quoted image][quoted image]
Nice job!
I really like the retro look of that floor. I might have to go that route myself when it comes time to replace my floor.
Quoted from Kkoss24:I know ,just like a drive in with the stars above .I’m going to let it be for now maybe send her on vacation somewhere and just do it .I can take the heat after the fact
Yep, always better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission...
Quoted from dirkdiggler:That PBR neon is sweet!
As a saxophone player myself, I also approve.
Quoted from ramegoom:Ha! Ran out of room long ago. I have to remove a machine to add a new toy.
[quoted image]
Geez; talk about a first-world problem...
Quoted from egyptrus:Looks like Red had one too many
Ted's not looking all that hot, either!
Quoted from Run_dll:Only small but I love it!
[quoted image]
Three winners right there...
Quoted from pinballdork:'Special When Lit' goes to my wife, for playing along with the "Just One More Machine" fallacy.
I just announced to my wife that I just put down a deposit on TBL; she came back at me saying that she has started looking at getting another dog.
I really don't see a downside here...
Some updated pics of my modest gameroom...
DSC_0045 (resized).JPGDSC_0046 (resized).JPGDSC_0056 (resized).JPGDSC_0048 (resized).JPGDSC_0051 (resized).JPGDSC_0057 (resized).JPGDSC_0052 (resized).JPGDSC_0053 (resized).JPGDSC_0055 (resized).JPGDSC_0066 (resized).JPGDSC_0061 (resized).JPGDSC_0049 (resized).JPGQuoted from mbeardsley:Very nice, almost makes me miss NJ. Love the NJ Turnpike sign and blue Jersey license plate.
And you don't see many Senator's jerseys...
Thanks! There's also a Garden State Parkway sign that is partially obscured by the poker table.
I have 57 Mitchell & Ness jerseys; I rotate them in the frames usually about once a month (except for the Giants one, which was autographed by Bobby Thomson). The Senator's one is from 1959; #3 Harmon Killebrew.
Quoted from Trizel:That hidden batman style switch is awesome did you 3d print the statue?
Actually, a few years back, Diamond Select Toys made this full-sized replica Shakespeare bust out of vinyl as a piggy bank. I modified it by incorporating a remote control for infrared outlets, so it makes for things turning on and off much easier, and it looks cool to boot. I also added some weigh to it so it had some heft and wouldn't tip over.
The unfortunate thing is that I don't think that these are being produced anymore, and if you are lucky enough to find one you usually have to pay a premium for it:
Quoted from orlandu81:Really nice room. I was born and raised in NJ, and I think you have captured the essence quite well.
I was 153B, I assume you are right around there.
Quoted from mbeardsley:Not sure what exit that is on the Parkway - most people go by their Turnpike exit (18W for me).
Glad you liked the room!
I'm technically off of 159, which is for I-80 in Saddle Brook, although when heading north, I always exit at 157 (US-46 East) in order to beat the now $2.00 toll.
Quoted from mbeardsley:He's in Saddle Brook, which is very close to where I went to High School (Paramus Catholic).
My son is currently attending Bergen Tech in Paramus for part of his school day; he's studying graphic design.
Quoted from orlandu81:In my experience it is quite the opposite, I guess it depends on where in NJ you are from. Everyone I know from NJ when they find out I'm from NJ they ask me what my parkway exit was. Same thing at my alma mater (Go Scarlet Knights)! Being from Paramus I would think you would be a Parkway guy...
I was 16W off of the Turnpike not that you were asking
For the first 35 years of my life, I lived in North Bergen, in Hudson County, so I was TP exit 16E. Now it's either 18W or 18E; they both merge together at the end, so it matters not.
Sorry for all of the Jersey talk everyone. You may now return to your regular programming, already in progress...
Quoted from yaksplat:I've got planned space for 26 pins and a pool table. I think it'll take me a long time to get to 26.
That's certainly a nice problem to have!
Quoted from RyanStl:You guys crack me up. I have to replace my HVAC right now, it's the cost of a Stern Premium. Not only space, but life gets in the way of more pins. I'm cool with what I have.
Quoted from stavio:You cracked me up by doing the same pin price comparison to other costs like I do.
Kid smashed radiator on the car... That's an EM.
Need a new roof.... That's a Lord of the Rings, Fish Tales, and possibly a project.
I just arranged to have Anderson windows put in. I don't think there is enough room here to list all of the other things I could have gotten...
Well, if you guys are going to talk about drummers, I'm going to have to put my vote in for Buddy Rich.
He was the greatest of all time; you could just ask him!
Quoted from cookpins:I use these on vinyl floors. Makes it easy to slide them out for maintenance.
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-2-1-2-in-Brown-Metal-Furniture-Cups-with-Carpet-Base-for-Hard-Floors-4-Pack-49092/203661012
Thanks for posting this! I have these on a couple of my machines and I like them, and I needed more for the games that I have added, but I couldn't remember where I got them from. These work great for moving the game on my laminate.
I have some of the silicone feet, which are nice, but it makes it damn near impossible to move the game for maintenance; they grip the floor with a vengeance!
Quoted from Redfive05:So jumping into the Ringer discussion has inspired me to finally post my game room. I’ve been in this hobby since I was a little kid. My father collected Jukeboxes and I would help him work on them, and as I got older growing up in the 80’s and 90’s, I started to gravitate more towards the pinball and arcade games. When I bought my first home in 2002, I finally had a place to build up my own collection (instead of fighting my father for space in his house lol). I had a nice game room in my unfinished basement there… But my wife and I only ever intended it to be a starter home, so I never really did much with the space beside set up the games I owned. Life changed and we stayed in our “starter home” until 2018 when we finally moved. I again set up a basement game room. As I was setting up my games after the move, I was starting to really bring myself down looking at the prices of games and thinking about how I always thought I would own a Funhouse, or an Addam’s Family or a Monster Bash…. And as I stood there in my little game room of amazing pieces I finally looked around and just appreciated all these games I spent my twenties and thirties accumulating and realized I have an amazing collection, and if I can no longer afford to buy machines, the least I could do was to make this space the best little arcade I could. It's not quite finished yet, there are a bunch of attention to details I need to address and I'm still planning on painting some stripes on the wall and a few other arcade inspired decorations. But I finally feel like it's to a point where I'm proud to show it off a little, so I present to Pinside.... Rolling Meadows Arcade:
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Holy smokes! What a great room! You have a collection that I'm certain a good number of people here would be jealous of. I would just about kill for that Coke machine.
Pics of my updated little gameroom; TZ out, GZPre, AlienLV and TBL in:

Quoted from Zartan:I love the BTTF dashboard! You need to get some original stadium seats in your Baseball corner!
Thanks. The BTTF time circuits display "works", in that it keeps the correct time on the middle display. The top and bottom displays will rotate in time intervals showing times from the films. You can imput a new destination time using the keyboard, and then press the button and it will then "send" you to that time, now showing the destination as the present time, and keeping correct time after that; the former present time then moves to the last time departed.
I built it from a kit. It was a fun little project.
As an aside, you'll also see a HAL9000 on the same wall, between the TV and the lit beer sign. My wife gets really creeped out when he starts talking...
Quoted from scootss:Love it! Can you share any more info?
Can do better than that. Here's the website that I ordered it from:
https://circuitsetup.us/product/complete-time-circuits-display-kit/?v=7516fd43adaa
They have a neat video posted showing what it can do.
It looks to be out of stock at the moment, but from past experience the turn around time on these is fairly reasonable. There is a waiting list to get on (not too many).
Quoted from SantaEatsCheese:Ditto. I've actually looked at a few soldering kit clocks to practice soldering but have not pulled the trigger on one. That looks neat!
Interestingly, no solder necessary. All electronics are plug-n-play. The most time-consuming part for me was the prep and painting of the enclosures (3d printed ABS). However, they also have an aluminum option, but it costs a bit more.
Quoted from Groo:Love me some BTTF, but that HAL would be awesome.
No kit for that, I'm afraid. I scratch built that.
Quoted from billsfanmd:Game room coming together. Was thinking about brick wall paper or some other faux brick but I wen with the providence thin brick from lowes with mortar. Limited to 6 pins and once I finally find ES Ill be at capacity.
[quoted image]
[quoted image]
Love your game room!
I see you got your TZ
Quoted from big-c66:Oh by the way honey I’m looking for another one. [quoted image]
Another wife?
Quoted from SilverUnicorn:Didn't mean for an aside comment to derail this thread. Sorry if it did so.
Now, onto more gameroom photos!
Chris
Nor did I; just being a smart ass, and failing miserably.
And I agree; back to the gamerooms!
Quoted from stingray4me:Here's video of it too.
Absolutely LOVED that game as a kid! I think the only way you could get to 1st place was to floor it and not crash. The other thing that I remember was if you were lucky enough not to crash, you would move up through the places, but when you got to 2nd place, the next one was 2nd place, too! You then had to continue on in order to get to 1st, all the while that clock hand was spinning. I finally figured it out and was able to get to 1st consistently.
Quoted from stingray4me:where did you get this ?
If you are referring to the Back to the Future Time Circuits, there is a kit that can be purchased here:
https://circuitsetup.us/product/complete-time-circuits-display-kit/?v=7516fd43adaa
Quoted from lecter:Hi guys! I used to upload some pictures of my game room, but I've just made a new light board, put in more movie boards and a chess table
I wish my country were as rich as the US - I would be able to create such impressive game rooms as yours! Anyway, I am working hard and in the future.... who knows Best regards guys!!!
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
