My girlfriend is sleeping so I don't want to turn on my modest pinball collection, but I'm sitting at my bar right now, to which I just added LED lighting behind the bottles, as learned from the almighty John Taffer, and I thought I'd share.
The bar was made with leftover wood from the living room floor.
Also on display is a vintage peanut machine given by a friend of mine which I semi-restored, and my Surf Champ Arduino clock project.

    Quoted from Pugsley:

    Neat clock!
Could you send me the sketch and wire up so some day I can build my own?

    Sure thing man: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/gottlieb-score-reel-clock-project
I still have the code somewhere when you get there.

    #5747 8 years ago
    Quoted from jawjaw:

PhilGreg - you have the bar thing nailed. Love it. Best clock ever!

    Thank you!

    #5754 8 years ago

Nah... As discussed in the other thread, I don't see how I could make it worthwhile with time and money I put into it, plus score reels are too hard to find and too expensive.
I'll think about it some more in a few weeks, maybe I can think of something...

    Quoted from Brazy:

Nice set up. .a friend of mine is releasing a cd this week with a guy that toured with hank lll playing fiddle. .David Mcelfresh . I got to play some tracks on it also . Just thought that was a cool coincidence seeing your pics.

Nice! I'm a huge Hank fan, I've listened to David a whole lot over the last few years as he seems to be the one that played on his last 2 albums... What's the name of the guy putting out the album? What do you play on it?
I have a band too, just beer leaguers, but played a lot of shows locally over the years. We're recording a new album a month from now. The first one's here (https://damntheluck.bandcamp.com), we've upped our game a whole lot since then.
We have a song about pinball that I'll pitch here when it comes out

    Quoted from hooch333:

I was looking for an easy and interesting way for my kids to be able to turn on the games in the arcade......made this from old gun case.......9 circuits...3 contactors energized from liw voltage antique frankenstein switches.....each circuot has edison bulb for power indication and amprage meters.

    20160123_111435_(resized).jpg20160123_111600_(resized).jpg20160123_111445_(resized).jpg20160123_111323_(resized).jpg20160123_111257_(resized).jpg

Looks awesome. Not sure what liw means, but basically it's low voltage going through the Frankenstein switches that activates another switch that the 110v goes through?

Love the light! Nice clean looking place!
I see a neon to the right, I'd like to see what this place looks like all lit up at night...

    Quoted from Cam:

It's been a few year since I posted in this thread. Things have definitely changed and gotten tighter in the basement since then!
Welcome to my Pinball Arcade & Game Worn Hockey Collection (No Flames fans allowed)

    Nice! A Slap Shot!
Got one of those myself, I'm currently recreating the marquee from a scan of the side. I don't have the topper, did it come stock with it? Do you know if they're all supposed to have it?
Also working on a BOPP resto.
I'd like to add an Ice Fever to the collection eventually.

Wow, the Oilers stuff is crazy too. Were you involved with the team in any way or just a huge fan?

    #7469 7 years ago
    Quoted from Cam:

Yeah one I found out about Slapshot I had to find one.

Are you the one who posted about looking for one on the Canadian forums this winter?

    #7472 7 years ago
    Quoted from Cam:

Thank you! Haha, yes it's true.
Yeah it's a nice touch, a little over the top but fun and functionable! I always say if you're not having fun, you're doing it wrong
Next up: full size rink with boards and glass in the backyard! Our 33'x50' is too small for the kids now.

Yes I did post a wanted thread on maaca sometime last winter. I ended up finding one in BC and had it shipped.

Nice! I got the one from the Ontario guy who was looking for a trade. How about that topper, does that look stock? What does it do? Light up each time you score?

    #7475 7 years ago
    Quoted from Cam:

So it was you that scooped it from me! It actually worked out better that that one got away from me....
No it's just a goal light that lights up from a button. It just looked good up there. However the original brochure for Slap Shot shows a goal light topper that I assume was functional....

nothing personal, I had my eye on that one too ever since I saw it at the NW expo a few years back. I had to trade a DMD for it (plus got some cash back). It's hard to put a value on the Slap Shot since it's so rare, but I figure it's pretty unique and given the small footprint, fun gameplay and how cool the theme is it was worth it.
Glad it worked out for you too!

    #7479 7 years ago

I guess you're inferring that it's not that rare... hey I don't know, I'd never seen one before the NW show and the one I got and couldn't find much info about it either, might be more common than I thought.
Either way, cool machine and nice to have for hockey fans such as myself and my buddy over in Edmonton!

    #7482 7 years ago

One of them is listed at 650 not working, the other 1800. I was valuing it at about 1500$. Yeah traded my FT for it and got cash back too.
The guys came to make the switch in my basement with their escalera , and I talked their ear off about pinball as is the unwritten rule Nice chaps, too!

While I'm at it, I'd been meaning to post a couple of pics of the ol' man cave...
I've been working on a new marquee for the Slap Shot, and obviously the North Star needs to be repainted and needs a new backglass...

A little art, Zombie Yeti and Mondo

    Quoted from Bendit:

I am loving the retro-vibe and the soft lighting. It really works with all the wood. Awesome. It feels comfortable. Cool games too!

    Wood panelling!
When I moved in I was thinking of remodeling the whole basement, but I decided to roll with it instead and I'm pretty happy about it.

Had some visit from my litte buddies yesterday (and I tried some "natural" white LEDs in King Pin... I'll be rolling that back )

    Quoted from FtrMech:

When I finished my basement I wanted a European Pub/Stube theme...so lots of oak...Pub on one side, pinball on the other...pinball is gradually encroaching on the pub

    Quoted from Goronic:

Awesome place! Not many things beat beer and pinball!

Thanks! I'm not even that big of a beer drinker, but I do like the bar / beer memorabilia look.

    Quoted from nightsearcher:

Awesome job on your BOPP restoration PhilGreg

    Thank you!

It's not actually inside the game room, but just a few feet away on the other side of the wall

I like pinballs and whiskey. My house had a carport that I never parked in. Three walls plus much funding, and voila, the Barport![quoted image]

    Beautiful.
