Me, personally I prefer tile to be in certain areas such as kitchens and bathrooms because there's not a whole lot of noise sources a person would want to pay attention to. I am not sure if a room full of pins in a highly acoustically reflective room would be versus a lesser one regarding someone who may be sensitive to the noise. I only have two pins and they are EM. If I had a choice in designing a game/entertainment room it would most surely have flooring of thick carpet and I'll do some kind of sound absorbing wall treatment. An acoustically "dead" room naturally sounds warmer and more inviting than its opposite.

I have been sim racing competitively for over 10 years now. It even led to me and my brother buying a SCCA racecar and racing for real. We have been doing that sparingly over the last few years. I also built my steering wheel interface and my hydraulic pedals.

There's a soffit running the length of the room and I found I could mount lights on the sides of the soffit without causing glare on any pinball playfield glass or backglass. Shorter people see a bit of glare at the top of the backglasses, but it's not too bad. Altogether I have three eight-bulb light bars on each side of the soffit for a total of 48 bulbs in red, yellow, green and blue. I don't know how to get decent pictures of the effect. In real life the color and shape of the bulbs are plainly visible and there's a neat alternating color effect down the center of the room. Yet the colors combine to light the games in a more even white. I like it.

My little getaway from wife and kids, even though my eldest (6yr old) is currently loving the mame setup.
It's a single garage in my house. Gets bloody hot in the summer and nice and cold in the winter. No insulation makes for these types of room temps.
The consoles that are with the TV are a NES, Segamega Drive and Xbox. It's cool that I can sit down and have a bash of these while my girls sit on the stools playing my mame. Good to share my obsession with them. Gives us something in common at such a young age.

Monopoly (kids love this one - I'm indifferent)
Fish Tales (love it but needs to be cleaned)
Data East Hook (Only seen 1 on this thread. Just shopped. Like more than the ratings would imply I would)
Valley Cougar Darts (This gets a LOT of play and I love it.)

Parties are the most fun! As you can see in the last part of the video, there's a complete music and light show system built in the rear part of the game room with laser, fogger, etc. I have used over 160 feet of multicolor LED tape and we have not one but two bars. As you can imagine, some parties end well after midnight...
As for the fun line-up: there are currently 23 pinball machines, a 3 lane slot race track, 2 MAME arcade systems, an air hockey table and a beamer system with TV tuner, PS3 and XBOX360 hooked to it.

I haven't updated the gameroom, but I did do a little decorating in the laundry/bathroom and got a custom bathroom sign since we're sticking with the alien/sci-fi theme with "Area 42 Arcade." Also added a cool decal on the door to the second pinball room. That room has Frankenstein, Jurassic Park, and soon Predator, so I thought the warning was appropriate.

I ordered the airlock based on your previous post. Finishing off the area below the stairs to the basement as a "pirate Space Ship" for my little guys.
