Just got my project Pinball Pool up and running and back in the house, so thought I'd post up a shot of the the back side of the laundry room with my little collection and an even smaller vpcab and mame arcade machine. My first 3 pinballs, 6 months ago there was just the vp cab.

turned what was basement shop area at my cabin home into new pinball annex and movie area/additional guest sleeping. Currently only 3 pins there but will likely add a 4th soon unless the snow comes before I can get it there.

Might want to rethink dartboard location unless you don't mind holes in your doors!
I have same board and people shoot darts 2 feet off to the sides a lot... especially girls. LOL
I'm building one of these as we speak![quoted image]

    Those must be DartStadium™ lights!

could you put that on the top for ceiling or back wall viewing instead?

Another alternative that I did in my shop and part of my cabin basement is to put up 1/4" plywood. I found some with a nice grain pattern and just put some satin clear on and used black pocket hole screws. Fairly easy to put up, don't have to tape and mud, easy to pop a panel or two back off if needed and put back up when done. You can get OCD making sure all the screws line up if you like, and could use furring strips on the seams if you wanted that look, or even paint or stain dark if you wanted. You can kind of see it in this pic. I did add furring strips around the outside edge and against the duct to cover gaps afterward.

5/8" drywall will help a bit over 1/2" if that's what you were going with.

offer accepted, in a couple weeks this is the new forever pinball room, currently 15'x25'ish with possibility to take out a wall or two for minor expansion. a separate pinball workroom approx 12x12 just down the hall. straight shot half flight of stairs to basement from back door. fireplace currently not functional, will look into putting in gas insert at some point in time.

edit: ceiling height is 7'4", all my current machines easily fit, is there anything I'd have trouble with?

    Quoted from hlaj78:

Not too many outlets in there. Looks like you’ll be needing to add a couple of 20 amp circuits each controlled by a wall switch.

You noticed that did you Yes, already planning electric upgrades.

Not my game room per se, but started moving into the basement pinball workshop, 12'x16' with a 12'x3' workbench along one wall. It will never be this clean and uncluttered again. Still shelves to go on the wall, more lighting, etc. Should have room to work comfortably with 3 machines in there, and is adjacent to the new game room still being worked on.

Yeah built that as 3 separate ones all on wheels that fit under the pinball machines. Took the wheels off 2 of them and stacked and screwed together for the new space. Just 1" angle aluminum brackets to hold each container. I think I have too many parts.

    Quoted from MikeS:

Knowing how quickly I tend to fill up available space, I have a feeling I'll just be using the area for pins. Maybe a stool or two. I'm sure over time I could even spill out a few more games (maybe a Chexx or a vid or two) into the family room if needed. The area on the other side of the wall is storage and what would be my pinball work-room. It would be nice to have room to have a few project games in there with enough room to work on them. I don't want to take over too much of this storage/workroom space, but I think pushing the wall out another foot would probably be a good compromise.
    [quoted image]

hmmm, just trade spaces with the Family Room now, you'll get there eventually.

if you like the idea of pool-- the social aspect, the dexterity, the satisfaction-- but don't like the huge amount of real estate it takes up, might I suggest Bar Billiards? http://pinballnovice.blogspot.com/2021/07/a-note-on-bar-billiards.html
here's the video from my link:
It's only a bit more space than a pinball machine and fit nicely with a line of games

    Looks like fun.

Moved into our new construction home 2 weeks ago and finally getting to the point of setting up my new gameroom. Still have a lot to do but at least we can play some pinball! I still have to setup my Harlem which is at a buddy's place and have a GNRLE coming sometime in January.

Nice lineup! I see you have one of the Alien Stars with the skinny coin door, wonder how many of those there were.

Got the game room all gutted, wired, painted, most of the floor in, and finally have all the kids in the same room! Need to add the décor and stuff, but that will come in time. I have the string lights on when playing and you should be able to make out the 6 light fixtures on a seperate switch I can turn on to work on things and such.

    PXL_20220531_214020092 (resized).jpgPXL_20220531_214020092 (resized).jpg

I can fit at least 3 more to the right of TNA, especially once Star Light is back together and I squeeze things over.

    PXL_20220531_214132929 (resized).jpgPXL_20220531_214132929 (resized).jpg

and if I squeeze these together a little bit I can fit 2 more to the left of Jumping Jack, there is a bumpout in the wall and the door on that side.

    PXL_20220531_214140728 (resized).jpgPXL_20220531_214140728 (resized).jpg

Of course if I buy that many more machines the only place to sit will be on the fireplace hearth.

Amazing collection. Crazy screen size to fit so nicely into that wedgehead body?

42" screen portrait orientation, sticks about 9" down into the main cab. LG now makes a funky monitor that is almost perfectly sized for a wedgehead, https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-28mq780-b

How does everyone do their "order" of games? Age? Manufacturer? Theme?
My main four are in the order I remembered / loved them as a kid... Getaway, Funhouse, Diner, Party Zone.

I tried to do order by date of manufacture, but immediately messed with it because I wanted Hulk next to Spider-Man instead of having Buck Rogers in between, and then I got Stars and instead of putting it in the Gottlieb system1 row where it belongs chronologically, I decided it needed to be with Alien Star and Star Light to have all the Stars together. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sprayed mine with this. Harbor Freight I'm sure sells a version as well, they can also be rented.

    Quoted from briyau15:

Not sure this is the right forum but with all the different game rooms it seems appropriate. I’m moving my pins into another room where vinyl flooring was just installed. Unfortunately I just learned the hard way that it scratches easily.
Does anyone have any recommendations to leg pads to put underneath so it doesn’t scratch when pins are moved? They were previously on durable tile and carpet so I didn’t have this issue before. By default I’m thinking the furniture pads you can get on Amazon but recall I’ve seen pinball specific ones on various forums. Thanks in advance.

I use these, available in many colors if that's your thing. https://www.pinballlife.com/perfectplay-silicone-leg-leveler-casters-set-of-4.html

Hard to photograph, but a couple translites, some plexiglass and some scrap wood fill the basement windows just about right, and natural backlight!
