I never updated my pic after adding a second game and having the basement painted. Now all I need is a STTNG to sit in the middle.

    Wow...wow

    Quoted from Ed209:

My game room is above the garage. Pretty good spot since it has a separate upstairs from the rest of the house but a major pain to lug pins in and out of. Once we're done with the major house renovations have plans to do an extension with easier access.

Now that's the floor is down I can finally start getting the pool table up. Did a little organizing too. It's coming together slowly.

Annoyingly I sold a couple a couple of years back and now I'm looking to pick up some new pins but prices seem to have risen in that short a time.

Do you mean the lowboy arcade cab? It's just an empty cab I've used for mame, their common here and the size is good but I do miss the artwork you get on the dedicated cabs but their hard to find here.

That's not too bad then. I missed my 7ft slate when I took it out for more pins so I'm gonna put it in the garage when I'm done finishing the inside.

How much does each piece of slate weigh?

    #3978 5 years ago
    Quoted from gweempose:

How much does each piece of slate weigh?

On an 8ft 3 piece slate, each piece is 250lbs or thereabouts.

    Quoted from gweempose:

How much does each piece of slate weigh?

    About 300lbs

    #3980 5 years ago

So how does one go about leveling something that weighs half a ton?

    #3981 5 years ago
    Quoted from gweempose:

So how does one go about leveling something that weighs half a ton?

You level each piece of slate as you put it on using wooden shims.

I didn't think I could want to go through the trouble of getting a pool table less until I read the past 5-6 posts. haha.

LOL!! Its not so bad. Thank god i dont collect pool tables cause pins are much easier to move.

It isn't that bad. I bought a Brunswick Hawthorne model out of someone's basement. Transported to an apt we were due to move out of (2nd floor). Let it sit in parts for two months and then moved it to the new apt (also 2nd floor). It wasn't the worst thing we ever carried up though stairs (60's Dr Pepper Machine)

The nice thing with pool tables is that they are a nice looking piece of furniture. They can be had cheap if you are smart. 4k table for 200 dollars and unlike pinball it was a 15 minute drive. Downside is that it did not get that much play.

Yeah. And it is almost a natural thing to get when the type of setup I will have in my game room will be all the walls lined in pinball machines with nothing in the middle. Trying to decide what my options are outside of pool table and all I have come up with is some hightop bar tables.

    Air Hockey or bubble Hockey!

Both easier to move than a pool table and cheaper (well the Air Hockey anyway). Or Ping-Pong that can be folded up/moved out when you want?

Good ideas. I have air hockey (not sure if that will make the move as it doesn't get used anymore) I was thinking possibly something that could be moved away if I wanted to, so Ping-Pong might be the way to go. I guess I might just wait until the room is finished and see for sure what kind of space I am dealing with.

    #3988 5 years ago

Get an air hockey used. People can't give those things away. Mine new was over $900, picked it up barely used for $200. C list is littered with them.

I'd do video games. Something like 4 War Final Assaults in the center of the room in a square pattern. The novelty and use would depend on how often you have folks over though.

Yup...loud, space issues...same as a pool table to me. First thing I got rid of when I moved.

kind of agree with this one. They are cheap though. I got a basic one from what looks like the 80s for $50.

Foosball is another good option with the capability to get 4 players involved. Always had a Foos till I recently moved. Everyone keeps asking when I'm getting another

Great call. A nice Tornado would help tie the room together. I miss my foos table as well.

Or if you really want a pool table look at the Valley commercial tables. You could probably hit up your local op and they have rows of them sitting in their warehouse. They are 7' and you just pull the feel off of them and the top moves as 1 piece since the top is plywood.
