Why am I the only one freakin' out over the fact that someone has a real live The Big Lebowski sitting in a private collection???

I saw that too and was really confused....

I'm afraid your four pins are going to get lost in that space. What else are you planning to add to your line up? A twelve lane bowling alley, water park, or a full size Terminator 2 3-D ride from Universal Studios?

That would be a good home for Galaxian 3.

I think one of these would go nicely down there.

HAHA, not anymore! Plus, I already reported myself to the head of the company for leaking images of the machine.

Took the first step to building my game room this weekend. I'm starting with a 2900 sq. ft. basement, 9 ft. ceilings and a mountain view on one end. This weekend, I got serious and started painting the ceiling with "Black Magic" paint, made an incredible mess, but it all swept up nicely. Here are the results of the first 16 gallons of paint (ran out, need about 8 more gallons). Need to add a bath room, two bedrooms and a bar.

What a great space to start with. About double mine. Jealous.

Congrats on starting your project. Just don't be surprised when it takes longer and costs more than you planned for, because it will ...

    #3664 4 years ago
    Quoted from toyotaboy:

His basement is twice as big as my living space. That much space could be very dangerous for a collector.

4.3x bigger than my whole house. Inadequacy achieved!

    #3665 4 years ago
    Quoted from mof:

Does anyone have any rough figures for "sq ft./pin" (for narrow bodies)
For example: 2.6 ft * 8 ft = ~21 sq ft? (to allow for minimal walking distance behind the player)
A guy with 2900 sq. ft "could" hold...
    138 pins.

My basement is about 1400 SF with a utility and storage areas, bar, theater, bath, game area and arcade. I have room for 20 pins without jamming them in or making it difficult to play. Two rows of 11 and 4 in the main arcade (solid states) and a row of 5 EMs along a wall in the game room.

I was originally in Chicago and came across a storage unit full of old 80's slot machines - 45 of them. Most are Jennings 400 series and about 20 of them are Bally E2000 series machines. The price was right, and it was "all or nothing at all" so I went for all of them. Went thru most of them and they work beautifully.

    So.

That big room will definitely have a "casino" flavor to it, plus my 1958 Gandy pool table and several arcade machines including a sit-down Cruis'n USA. I got a feeling it'll fill up pretty quickly.

My wife tells me I'm sick.

I would guess you have about 400-500 sq ft. for 20 pins, and 900-1000 sq. ft. for all the other stuff u mentioned.

That's also an interesting number. What % of sq. ft. of a space do you like to dedicate to pins? In my opinion you really want the "work area" nearby so you are not wheeling pins around to work on them.

That number didn't include about 200 sq ft storage / work area. I'll have to pull out the blue prints and figure out the dedicated space. The original plan was to have pretty much all pins, but we decided that a one dimensional basement would get old fast, so we changed the plan to have more than pins and I think that was a smart move.

I wanted to wait until everything was perfect but really, will that ever happen? I collect alittle bit of everything, lol. Starting from the stairs, though you can't see anything from the main floor. keep in mind I have 2 young girls and a girly girl wife while your looking at the pictures.

You've got a really collection of different things there.

Plenty of room there. Did you move the pool table because the 3 picture looks like you have about 10ft. on that side but in the 2nd picture it looks like only about 4ft. from that wall.

What do you mean meager, that looks great and just look at that high ceiling. WOW And you dog you is that a T3 arcade game I spy. That is one of the BEST arcade games out there. Does the recoil on the guns work? Your very lucky to have one. Wish I did.

    My meager offering...

nothing meager about it. Sometimes quality is better than quantity

    #3686 4 years ago

    Thanks.

The T2 Game works perfectly, including the recoil. I restored it to like new condition. My wife (at the time my girl friend) could not walk past one of these (when they were new) without dropping $20 bucks into it. This was one of the first adds to the game room and will be a permanent feature because of the memories.

    #3687 4 years ago

Oups T2. Yes you better keep it, you just can't find one these days. Where did ya get the parts for it?

    #3688 4 years ago

I scored an extra unit for $300 with a bad monitor (red gun was bad) but everything else was good. I also scoured ebay for spares and arcadefixit.com had some parts. I really think my timing was good because I think I found all the remaining spares for this game before they were totally gone, e.g., LED boards for the guns, gun pivot bushings, pots, NOS control panel, etc... Since then, the market seems to have dried up so I do consider myself very lucky.

Painted it myself, using wall paint samples from Lowes! When all finished, it will look like the side of a b-24, in homage to my grandfather.

Aside from the 'Last Call' art (which does give it character), that is one of the sharpest game rooms I have seen to date. Very Well Done!

Thanks! I did the basement by myself, pretty much from ground up. When we built our home the builder ended up taking off with about 80k bucks, and left us with a shell of house and whole lot of lawsuits from sub contractors. So, it was either file for bankruptcy, or learn to build a house ourselves. We learned pretty quick!
