I'm in the process of adding some black light posters to my room as well. Other than Dirty Donny Couple questions, where's a great place to source them? What type of frame are you using? Any glare issues?

    Thanks, nice collection.

So jumping into the Ringer discussion has inspired me to finally post my game room. I’ve been in this hobby since I was a little kid. My father collected Jukeboxes and I would help him work on them, and as I got older growing up in the 80’s and 90’s, I started to gravitate more towards the pinball and arcade games. When I bought my first home in 2002, I finally had a place to build up my own collection (instead of fighting my father for space in his house lol). I had a nice game room in my unfinished basement there… But my wife and I only ever intended it to be a starter home, so I never really did much with the space beside set up the games I owned. Life changed and we stayed in our “starter home” until 2018 when we finally moved. I again set up a basement game room. As I was setting up my games after the move, I was starting to really bring myself down looking at the prices of games and thinking about how I always thought I would own a Funhouse, or an Addam’s Family or a Monster Bash…. And as I stood there in my little game room of amazing pieces I finally looked around and just appreciated all these games I spent my twenties and thirties accumulating and realized I have an amazing collection, and if I can no longer afford to buy machines, the least I could do was to make this space the best little arcade I could. It's not quite finished yet, there are a bunch of attention to details I need to address and I'm still planning on painting some stripes on the wall and a few other arcade inspired decorations. But I finally feel like it's to a point where I'm proud to show it off a little, so I present to Pinside.... Rolling Meadows Arcade:

Holy smokes! What a great room! You have a collection that I'm certain a good number of people here would be jealous of. I would just about kill for that Coke machine.

Funhouse or not, your house looks great and a lot of "fun"! Thanks for sharing!!

    Quoted from MrMikeman:

Who gives a shit that someone else has the same artwork as another? Decorate your game room in a way that it means something to you, not for the sake of being different.
Reminds me of teens. “I’m going Goth to be different”. Yeaaaaah. Like all the other teens doing the same. Trying too hard to be unique & different is a waste of time. Everyone IS unique in some way. Just be you.

Having a hard time understanding this one. If you’re putting together a really expensive game room, what’s wrong with wanting to have unique stuff?

… also.. just how many goth kids did you HAVE in your high school?!

Awesome collection! I need to learn more about those Haunted House and Invaders machines.

No issue with being unique at all. It's a personal preference/choice thing.

I prefer to focus on what makes me happy and nostalgic as opposed to having something nobody else has. I accept that there are different opinions and that's fine. It doesn't mean I think I am right and they are wrong. We don't all have to think alike. To each their own. Whatever floats your boat!

Don't want that fade from the sun, thats the reason the blankets are on, because the window is always open for the dogs.

    Thanks, nice collection.

I use cheap frames when hobby lobby has 50% off every other week. Blunt Graffix is another source for black light and then I usually collect mostly 90’s concert flyer art. Yes there is glare issues from floor and pictures across from each other but not really any from direct blacklight.

Love your space! I gravitate towards gamrooms that try to replicate a real arcade feel. Mission accomplished, love the ticket redemption prize wall. Midway Haunted House is prolly the best rifle game out there. Lots of unique games other than pinball to make it really interesting.

Thanks! I am really trying to get that authentic arcade feel and think I’ve done a pretty decent job doing it… adding the change machine really took it to the next level. I removed the bill validator and installed a button in its place, I have it set to give out $2 in quarters each time you press it. I love when I have people over and they are playing games and I hear the sound of the coins falling into the scoop. It's also great when someone is getting really far in Ninja Turtles and they run out of quarters and have to run over to the machine to grab more while the timer is running out… just like when I was a kid lol

A few of the other “Authentic” arcade detail I tried to recreate were my custom arcade LED sign, which I had the “arcade” letters designed to look like the Dream Machine logo at the mall arcade ai went to as a kid.

And another local arcade I took inspiration from is Joe’s Playland on Salisbury Beach… they have the carnival style chase lights on the walls around the arcade, I built my own for my Pinball Row.

There is no hate mate, except for your rude comment. Other people are allowed to say what they think or thought was cool. I liked them when i first saw them. I haven't seen them since then until now. That is all. Nothing hateful.

Go back to trolling someone else. Nobody cares what you think about other peoples comments.

I have a good mate who swears that music should have stopped developing at the end of the 80's.

I think arcades (and blacklights in them, especially carpets) are cool as hell. This whole thread is dedicated to creating an experience of when we were young. I thought what punkin wrote was just absurd and I was responding to it. When I was 14, the year was 1987, and arcades were awesome. Fucking crazy what that dude punkin wrote in a thread about gamerooms lol.

What's funny is while I've been posting the last few minutes, I've been unboxing a few blacklights I recently ordered to put under my machines to better highlight the blacklight effects of my carpet lol. Inspired by recent posts in this thread, thank you very much! 14 all over again, baby!

Giddyup! Sounds like a good idea!

My game room at home hasn't changed recently, but I was in Sarasota, Florida last week and checked out a showroom at the UTC mall and also the Arcade Monsters on St. Armand's circle. Pretty much entirely new Sterns at Arcade Monsters and they apparently got a Foo Fighters the next day... D'oh!! Missed it by that much!

That space is bitchin! Way to go, I actually want to experience that, great use of space and awesome variety, and wonderful aesthetics and decor. You hit the mark. You should be very proud

I feel that if I had blacklights in my basement they would see too much.

The Token sign came from a Vendor that had an arcade that they closed in the early 2000's. It was their only location that used tokens and they tossed the sign aside and forgot about it until they were moving to a new building in 2019. It was in a pile to go to the dump so I offered the 20 bucks.

The chase lights were quite a project and there was probably a better way to do it than what I did.

I bought the Lenses, Covers, and mount form Action Lighting. They are Cabochon E14 MIDWAY U90 Turbo Lights.

I mounted the black bases to a piece of wood I painted silver by drilling two small holes in then and mounting them with small screws, then drilled out a hole in the middle (where the real bulb mount is supposed to go) and ran a set of LED Christmas lights through each hole. It’s 4 sets of Christmas lights, every 4th lens is the same set of lights, I have Red, Yellow, and Orange lenses, witch match the Red, Orange, and Yellow I picked for the Arcade in my sign. When I finally paint the stripes on the wall they will be those same colors to match as well.

Those 4 sets of lights are then plugged into a 4 channel sequencer for Christmas lights I bought off Amazon.

A lot of splicing and a lot of soldering, but I’m thrilled with the end results so it was worth it.

Let’s drown out the bickering with lots of game room photos to get back on track.

A bunch of old bastards who liked blacklight posters when they were 14 lambasting another old bastard for liking blacklight posters when he was 14.

Nothing more than a bucket full of crabs.

I created the poster. Each of the images were sourced from the US patent database, cleaned up digitally, and annotated with sources. I'm considering selling prints.

I would be interested in one or two also
