    Quoted from gandamack:

First world problem here, but here goes:
A few years ago I laid down some spendy carpet throughout our upstairs in all the rooms and hallway. One of the upstair rooms has become the pinball room. I got the machines now on this carpet and I cannot stand it. Am thinking of tearing up the carpet in that particualr room so the pins have a solid even surface to sit on. Maybe just some faux wood floors or something. Is it dumb to rip up the expensive carpet in said room for the sake of the pinball machines?

It would be nice to know what bothers you about the carpet, because as stated above, except for moving the pinball machines, and potentially keeping the carpet clean, carpet, grips the legs nicely for a solid connection and can be sound dampening, which is really pretty nice. It also cushions your footing so if you’re standing there for a long period of time it’s a little easier on your body.

How big is the room? Joy Carpets makes pretty big rugs. I did a 12x18 rug on top of thin carpet.

It‘s unfortunate that of all the rooms in this thread, that’s the one you’ve been to. I mean, there’s not a whiskey barrel in sight, so what’s the point really?

Next time ill bring the whisky with me... just in time for high noon!

    Me, I'd second that also.
The game room with pins was built out of a two-car garage space: so years ago, I wanted a mixed beige/dark accent shag type carpet - the kind you can really sink your toes into - ala 1975. The main bedroom is just above the game room, and my wife goes to sleep much earlier than I - so it has really helped with the sound deadening.

I put BBQ sauce on $120 steaks.

Not everyone likes the taste of food.

That's how ketchup and bbq sauce found it's way from the kitchen to the table. It was to make all the food taste the same so children would eat it.

Extremely expensive steak houses where the chef's make their own dipping sauces for the tables , I doubt children are their number one customers. But hey what do I know.

If the chef put's it on the table it's the opposite to what i was talking about. It's supposed to be there.

But hey, you don't have to say that in the first place.

Love seeing all of these pictures of everyone’s Game rooms. Certainly got a lot of inspiration from all of them. Finally wrapped up getting our basement finished. Still have some more artwork to get framed and hung, but this is pretty much the final product. Have a TV area, game room, bar, home gym and 1/2 bath. Here are some pictures!

absolutely amazing! love the fitness center too; a place to get work done, then to the pins for fun! great bar; i don't think ive ever seen one quite as professional and extensive in a private area before.

Damn! That’s a fancy piece of meat! I’ve had huge steaks at Ruth Chris and Charlie’s, both in FL, and both were very good and around $40 I think. It’s been awhile. I do like Omaha Steaks and burgers, I admit. But since my son was born in 2018, combined with the pandemic, I never leave the house or eat steak. I eat whatever is easy and I make for him. So fish sticks, Mac n cheese, PBJ, cereal, pizza. Steak sounds really good, come to think of it. With some good bourbon.

A few current pics of my space, showing the "shrine" that's allocated for the Godfather CE when it arrives in June. After a bit of adjustment, I managed to find extra room.

I had been collecting arcade cabs and pinballs for last 25 years, i used to have a big collection of Williams Pinballs 20 years ago, but when i started with arcade i ended selling most of my pinball machines.

Some years ago i started again collecting pinballs, but now i'm more focused on Stern Spike 2 machines.

Converted a storage room in the basement to now hold pins. I figure there’s room for one more where the lamp is currently. Was able to get a Murphy bookcase door installed (to replace the main door).

Also was able to get another door installed between that room and this small room I converted into a throwback 90s arcade. Also figured might as well hang up those action figures collected years ago that have been sitting in boxes.

Was thinking on doing a Murphy door, but thought it would really add to the effort of getting a wrapped pin through the door. Now I'm thinking of doing glass french doors so I can get that alluring glow.

Did you do the Murphy door install yourself? If so, did you buy a kit?

No, I didn’t do it myself but my contractor did. Believe he purchased it from Murphydoor.com.

I do anticipate a potential issue moving a pin through that door, although I was told the door can “easily” come off and can be put back on. Instead if I need to move a pin in or out I’ll probably look to go through the other room’s door.

Frogman Your set-up seems great. So many great machines in your basement there. I would be happy to have any of them and there is at least 6 I would love to own one day. I really like the carpeting and the LED lighting along the ceiling. My pinball room has open joists like that, but it's all spray painted flat black. I want to run some LED strip lights in one of the ceiling joist bays to provide a neon lighting effect, so that will be a fun project.

I created the poster. Each of the images were sourced from the US patent database, cleaned up digitally, and annotated with sources. I'm considering selling prints.
