After more years than I like to think about moving boxes and stretching extention cords just to play a game, I finally have space to set up two games in their own place.
    P1040199 (resized).JPGP1040199 (resized).JPG
Small start I know, but after having years of setbacks setting up my shop, it's so satisfying to be able to simply power up a couple of games and play.
    P1040202 (resized).JPGP1040202 (resized).JPG
The actual game room is around 480 square feet, so still have a long way to go, but it's nice to finally be moving towards having a home arcade that isn't 1/6 scale.

The Titans are the way to go, the mats in general are great but the Titans are much better.

I’m still setting up, but the new game room is a vast improvement over the old one and I feel like I have plenty of space to grow!

    Quoted from TheNecromancer:

Hey folks, I finished up my arcade / theater and made some changes since posting a while back. The last change will be adding LOTR in place of High Speed but that won't be for a little while.
There's 4 movie themes throughout the arcade, Jurassic Park, Tolkien's Middle Earth, Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean. Pirates was my favorite ride at Disney as a child so lots of great memories for me in some of the props. Hope all enjoy and keep posting your rooms and progress pics. I love seeing all the cool ideas and designs!

Definitely one of my favorites on this thread. Only thing I am seeing now is Pirates Pinball: Check, Jurassic Park Pinball: Check, Middle Earth Pinball: Check, Star Wars Pinball: ???.

Seriously though what a setup. I really like the East Dock JP sign but the X-Wing and Tie Fighter wall mounts might be my favorite. I just gotta know though, are the hugemongous movie poster signs secret sliding doors or something?

I suppose there's always room for one more (would still like to fine a nice Road Kings someday), but maybe I'm done. The space is about as crowded as I'd like to see it and I have about as much to maintain as I'm interested in maintaining. I ran out of space in the main room so I had to turn the weight room into a side gameroom. Kinda wish I would have finished it before filling it.

My "must have" pins filled up my game room, so my three "opportunity buys" are stuck in the unfinished side of the basement.
I still need to install the big ColorDMD I already have for Baywatch, to go with the colorful alternate translite. X-files was purchased NIB in 1997 (still have the box). I've owned Baywatch since 1996 and Barb Wire since 1997.

The US distributor (now gone) used to send me the kits because I'd make a webpage about them. This was a long time ago before they had much in the way of their own promotion. Looks like the kits can be had on Amazon.

    Nice line up!
What is the height and also the distance of the walls of your gameroom?
Am building mine but haven't yet moved the pinball machine inside, but i think it will be more or less the same height. ( 7.21ft / 2,20m )
and for the walls i have 4,20m / 13.77ft wide so it will be ok to remove the glass from the pinball machine

yes, you want at least 14ft across from each other, so people can walk through when playing across from each other. it's tight even at 14 ft. 16ft is better if you can do it.

    Well done! Carpet is killer.

    Quoted from drewbo81:

Its filling up fast...I still need to make a small portable bar and some seating!
    [quoted image][quoted image]

Looks good. For seating I highly recommend keeping it "bar" height (not counter). This will be super easy for people to rest, sit, stand and have a drink without having to muscle up and down from traditional (or counter) height seating. Seems to flow better at this height vs game rooms/arcades I've been to where seating was an after thought and people put in lower seats and people just don't want to "get up" when its their turn.

    #21032 1 year ago

Jaeg I really like the carpet in your game room. The black lights make it pop. Very cool. You have some great machines too. I would like an Asteroids one day if I could find one reasonably priced. Or a Pole Position or Tempest.

I have a stern lit frame and was wondering if there are any places where I can get custom artwork for it? It doesn’t have to be pinball related just not sure what the artwork is called. Should I be looking for translites or is there another name for it? Thanks

Seven of my 17 pins were purchased NIB (from X-files in 1997 to Elvira's HoH in 2019). X-files was an "opportunity buy" so I kept all the packaging and stuck the box in my home's crawlspace in case I ever sold the game. Then I kept sticking other boxes from NIB pins in there even though the games were keepers that I knew I'd never sell. I recently ran out of room and pulled the pin boxes out so I could store other stuff in the crawlspace. That's when I came up with a diabolical plan in which I'd pay one month's rental on a storage unit and line up the completely intact (but empty) pin boxes along the back wall, never pay any further storage charges, and wait for the contents of the defaulted storage unit to be auctioned off (like they do on television on Storage Wars). Since bidders do not get to enter the unit or touch the contents before bidding, I thought bids might get to be substantial, and the winning bidder would get a real surprise.

But it turns out I'm just not that evil. So instead I've been putting one pin box (full of its corrugated packing materials) out each week next to my recycling bin. The last two to go were EHoH LE (last week) and X-files (just today).

d I've been putting one pin box (full of its corrugated packing materials) out each week next to my recycling bin.

For safety, I would break those down and fold the labeling inside. I would not want to advertise to every baddie passing through that I have a collection of new pins.

Congrats on getting rid of the clutter!

    #21042 1 year ago

I always thought it wise to fold or cut down the box and save it in case a future owner would want it. Plus it backs up the home use only claim

    #21043 1 year ago

I don’t know the home use only matters at all. There is really never any proof of HUO unless you can show video of it sitting in your basement since you got it.

I started out with that goal, but after a few years, I found it was more important to have games I really liked over games that showed the history.
But I did enjoy the history route for a while.

Ah, I see it now... Prospector... Will check it in the IPDB... I see lots if pics there... I see it's a payout machine... so the player gets 1 to 5 bucks for landing in the Big Strike hole, which has to be done by bouncing off one of the lower leaf springs!

I spy some Lego just off to the side... you still have your sets from back then too???[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Damn, you got a DeLorean?! Best I could do was this guy:

And, yes, Lego is probably my #1 hobby right now. I teach middle school Technology and my Robotics classes are all based on Lego Mindstorm and Lego Spike Prime, so my classroom is all Lego themed. Which is cool because everything I can’t display at home I just bring to school and display it there (like the 10k piece Eiffel Tower I just got).
