Set up is starting to look good. Had the Brother-in-laws 50th Birthday yesterday (yep, 25 Dec the poor thing), but was a great day for all ages. The Woz took a beating and held up perfectly!Cave panorama.jpgCave panorama 2.jpg

Finished insulating my garage and filling it with games recently. One game will likely be added to each wall before long.

When Richie Knucklez had Kong Off 1, this was the actual machine Steve Wiebe played on. When setting up the Kong Off, Billy Mitchell put special stickers to commemorate each machine...see below. There were 12 machines in total. This is #1 of 12. Some people think it's dumb that I kept the print out of Wiebe's name, famed it, and put it on the cab, but I just wanted to keep everything original as it was on the day of the competition. Wiebe also signed the marquee. Pretty cool machine with a bit of history to it.

Lastly, I sight you don't see everyday in NYC...My doorman still thinks I'm crazy every time a new game arrives. People walking down the street are just confused and exited.

True story...while on the sidewalk, a little kid goes, "Look dad, Fix it Felix Jr...." The day is trying to explain to the kid what an arcade machine is and he goes..."It's like a big iPad." I wanted to strangle that man.

Awesome stuff, kaneda. Get a few pins to compliment that awesome collection!

    Quoted from spfxted:

Bought it off a friend, who in turn bought a Batman Returns banner that was equally huge on eBay. Have not seen many memorabilia sites with the really large banners for sale, usually just theatrical posters (from varying regions/countries). Checking eBay from time to time is probably your best bet.

Awesome room. You've put a lot of work into it. When I saw your games on the street in NYC I immediately thought of this:

You need a transformers pinball to go with all these!!! That would be epic!!!

Is Transformers pinball a good game? Was thinking that or a Tron LE...what do you think?

Tron LE, but its a 10k swing between the two pins cost wise to consider.

    #2077 6 years ago

Tron LE is 10K more than Transformers? What's an LE going for these days with mods?

Fantastic space as is. Once you add a pin you know you'll want more.

My Tron cabinet is arcade original and covered in grafitti/carvings, but works perfect. If you ever sell yours I'd be interested. Not sure I want to commit the time to restore it.

Kiwi $ but maybe not quite a 10k usd swing but will be double the price of Transformers LE at least. I see you have a WTB thread going already, good luck and awesome game room btw.

    #2080 6 years ago

You might want to consider a Tron Pro and TFLE for the price of TRON LE.

I'll definitely consider that. Mine is all original, but I did swap out some of the plastics with new ones from Phoenix Arcade...makes a world of difference. The original plastics all get faded over time.

Tron is the world's coolest arcade cabinet, even if the game is a bit repetitive, it's still loads of fun.

I have a hunch that TRON LE pinball prices will come down...I've seen this happen before in the collector market place. People start over paying, new buyers get anxious and drive the price up even higher...but when the dust settles, there will be more than enough machines looking for new homes.

Jnauman, I really like your big ball bowler. If I had the room, I'd get one. Nice pin collection too.

I posted a few pictures a while back, but now I finally settled on a lighting scheme after a few years of tinkering. I use chrome bathroom light bars fitted with colored compact spiral fluorescents. The bulbs have an interesting shape and provide some mellow color. I found racks of these bathroom fixtures for $5 to $15 at Habitat for Humanity stores. There's a soffit running the length of the room and I found I could mount lights on the sides of the soffit without causing glare on any pinball playfield glass or backglass. Shorter people see a bit of glare at the top of the backglasses, but it's not too bad. Altogether I have three eight-bulb light bars on each side of the soffit for a total of 48 bulbs in red, yellow, green and blue. I don't know how to get decent pictures of the effect. In real life the color and shape of the bulbs are plainly visible and there's a neat alternating color effect down the center of the room. Yet the colors combine to light the games in a more even white. I like it.

    I love it

That's a great Idea. Now if you put black light bulbs in that would be 480 watts per bar and with 6 bars that would be 2880 watts of black light. That room would really GLOW.

My game room is pretty limited in size but I can't complain since I didn't have one just a few months ago. STTNG is my only pin so far and I am hoping to pickup a couple more this year. The Mame machine is temporary, once I am finished sorting the rom library down to a nice small selection then it will go for sale to fund more projects including a custom built mame more to my liking. The bartop in the pictures is currently a mame cabinet but that is going to get changed this week to a dedicated NES cabinet. Both desktop PCs and the desk are on their way out I think. The wife only uses her laptop now and since I don't really PC game anymore I think its time for a laptop for myself. Then those PCs will go to mame cabs or jukeboxes. Last is the English Mark darts I just picked up. I last had one over 10 years ago and it stopped being played, we will see how this one does. If I am the only one playing it then it will probably leave like the last one did.

Meph: You could fit a LOT of pins in there.

    #2091 6 years ago

I could but one wall has a large bank of windows and the back door to my patio, the opposite has the heat run. The wall you cant see has the back door opening into it and the door to the laundry room. Its a decent sized room but its a little tougher to configure unless I just want to make a wall of pins and cover the windows. I don't really want to do that. The house itself is too small for our family of 4 so we are currently looking. A LARGE gameroom is a prerequisite so I can wait.

I sat and looked at this whole thread! Really nice rooms here.. IM jealous! I thought I was the only one infatuated with the '80's. LOL

It's tough taking a photo where one thing is so much brighter than everything else. If your camera will let you, you will need to manually adjust the exposure.
