I put them where they fit mainly. I like having the 2 newer machines in the centre of the the line up. Just because most people like the look of them the most.

    Quoted from AlexRogan84:

How does everyone do their "order" of games? Age? Manufacturer? Theme?
My main four are in the order I remembered / loved them as a kid... Getaway, Funhouse, Diner, Party Zone.

Has anyone done a cool painters tape wall design, graffiti work, or blacklight paint in their arcade?

There's 207 pages of images and I got through 30 and decided to ask year.

    Looking for some inspiration.

There is a really cool one a couple of pages back! I’m not great at art but would love to do what he did.

I put the bigger wide bodies on one end, and then the games that need subs (shared) next to each other. Then the rest don't matter.

Thanks! I'm on the hunt for those chasing lights they would have in arcades in the 80's. You know the ones, about every 80's movie had them. Left over from the disco era.

Kids loved it. I had some parts of the LOTR movies (with the Witch King) playing on a loud speaker which amped up the intensity. Some kids were a bit intimidated but nothing too bad. A couple parents commented how cool it was.

When we used to throw Studio 54 parties we built our own using something like this.
    https://www.amazon.com/Elation-T4-Four-Channel-Chase-Controller/dp/B0002DNW5A

Basically plug in whatever lights you want and it cycles through them. We built our own awning/pergola with globe lights mounted to it above the entrance.

Ask and you shall receive I guess, this is awesome! Great way to build an extension for a game room and a great setup.

    #20924 1 year ago

    Thanks for the kind words....
That little gameroom and shop full of Arcades keeps all my lowd beer drinking buddies out of my house! Probably saved my marriage... the wife retreats back to the house and can do her own thing.....

I spend most of my time out there even if I'm just watching TV.... There is a bunch more Arcades and a Pool table in the big shop but it also holds my Jetboat and NSX.... Dual Purpose

    #20925 1 year ago

That’s a sweet space. I really miss my ICB and TBL and would love to find a Dragons Lair and Marble Madness.

Question for you guys that have black, open, ceilings and exposed joists and ductwork in your basement game rooms. How did you paint that stuff black?

    Harbor Freight purple spray gun?

I set a small fire in the corner and let it smoke for a few days. Zero effort and the basement has tonnes of character now.

Sprayed mine with this. Harbor Freight I'm sure sells a version as well, they can also be rented.

Sherwin Williams. Not sure every store does this, but they rented me a sprayer for free when I bought paint. I used dryfall paint (even though my ceilings aren't quite high enough to take advantage of the "dry fall"), it adheres very well and finished very flat. I signed up for a contractor account and it made my paint ultra cheap, highly recommend looking into that. I mean it took dryfall paint down like 70% in price or something absurd. The sprayer made very quick work of the process. Two notes: 1) seal off every crevice in your unfinished area, the overspray will get EVERYWHERE. 2) have a 2nd pair of hands to wipe off your safety glasses every few minutes. 3)rd bonus tip, if you're wanting a little flair, cover some of your ductwork or light fixtures with plastic so some silver remains in the ceiling

Rented a sprayer from Home Depot, $99 for 4 hours. I was done w with my 1800sq.ft. ceiling unless than 2 hours.

Pittsburg Paint, two 5 gallon pails of dryfall, had a bit left over for future touchups.

About the same, but I prefer Robotron. I have that cab upgraded with a perfect crt and some really nice joysticks, so it’s fairly fun to play.

This forum has consistently been the most supportive and positive stream of all that I follow on Pinside. I've seen so many absolutely magnificent game rooms, 10+ on the 1-10 scale and just as many fun, aspirational single game set ups.

After attending my brother-in-law's super pinball bash birthday party (and securing 2 of 6 high-scores ), I was reminded how great a game room ultimately is defined, by the joy it brings and the people it binds together!

Hope all pinheads enjoy their game rooms with their besties, family and neighbors!

Yes, each set-up brings joy to the owner. I do not have company over often. But I look forward to that time that I can share it with them.

Robotron is definitely my favorite of my arcades. Original CRT and joysticks, and I play the hell out of it and yet it keeps on ticking.

As for my pins, Pinball Magic was my favorite...until last week's addition.

Love the Gorf and the Williams machines. 3 of my favorite 80's games.

    Quoted from kool1:

I had a nicely working Defender for a while, but it was so damned difficult and I never could get past the first 4-5 waves. I eventually sold it, but now wish I'd kept it as it would have rounded out a nice trio of Williams games (to go along with the Road Show).

Gorf was one of my favorites when I was a kid, but it doesn't get much play these days compared to the others. I'm actually getting ready to sell it to make room for something else, probably another pin.

Defender is a fantastic game. I'm terrible at it also but it's an absolute classic.
