Awesome, one of the most tastefully done game rooms I’ve seen in this thread!

The word dolls sure is a sore point in the united states of North America, i know that now.

    #20103 1 year ago
    Quoted from punkin:

Why would you differentiate between a doll for a girl or a doll for a boy? Have their pushbikes got different nomenclature there? What other toys are called different things depending who plays with them?
And why would people think it's disrespectful to call something what it is. It's like people there don't want to be associated with the word dolls, so made up an entirely new mane for them and no i'm a bastard for using a generic term.
I understand well there are regional differences, but maybe some of you people should reciprocate. Dolls are dolls here as far as i have ever known

I don’t know man, I was just explaining what I think happened. You’ll have to ask some American language experts

We are on a forum where people pay tens of thousands of dollars for wood boxes with marbles inside. To most of my friends this is nuts. Some people also have star wars, gi joe, wrestlers and transformers action figures. And they also have a gun collection in the other room or even a garage full of collectible vintage muscle cars. To each their own but calling them dolls to collectors and ask if you play them is denigrating their hobby. It like asking a guy with a gun collection how often do you use you guns to shot something for fun.

Just to get this thread back on track. My current gameroom is a bit of a mess. Tomorrow I'll tackle it

blah blah, it's been explained. I still think the demarcation of labels is ridiculous, but i get it after the tenth person explained.

I understand that people with 'action figures' think dolls are denigrating, they are different to girls who have dolls.

At least you all have something to be outraged about today.

    Scenario;

You're with a guy you haven't seen for a few years. He drops and you say 'Do you want to play some pinball?'.

Or you say 'Do you want to play action figures?'.

Thanks man. Won it at a auction for $50. Had a couple breaks and they broke another spot on shipping. Thought it was a lost cause but found a neon repair guy in Edmonton who quoted me $300 to fix. Ended up only costing me $200 with other sign repairs. My wife's a Ford girl and absolutely loves it

If she tires of it, that will look nice in my garage above my Mustang

It goes without saying that whenever you run into anyone you haven’t seen in a long time, you invite them to play action figures. It’s just polite.

Someday I'll have a Mustang. My dad bought the first 66 off the line in Canada when he graduated his heavyduty apprenticeship. Sold it in 69 when my parents moved overseas. There's a 91 or 92 5.0 sitting in a garage a couple houses over. Been trying since I discovered it to buy it.

You've just made me want to buy dolls just so i can do that! Truly great idea with a no sarcasm smilie thingo.

Bought a 2005 Mustang. Huge mistake! On my part..... first year of new model had electrical problems and water leaks under the dashboard that where never fixed. Only after a few months of ownership. I even called Ford who said " sorry but we cant do anything for you" ....

Over the past 6 months I've completely refreshed my collection. It started with GNR in December, then a HUO CV and AC/DC. In the past month I've added Godzilla premium, Rush premium, and Deadpool premium all NIB. It was difficult selling some of the games I had, but it was time to freshen up the gameroom.

    #20120 1 year ago

I’ll post an update picture tomorrow after DP is delivered.

I reconfigured my lineup and managed to up my max capacity by 1. I’ll be at 14 pins with a free space for 3 more, the only caveat is that the last 2 will interfere with the removal of PF glass, IOW I’ll have to play Tetris and move a pin when I need to remove the PF glass on a few machines.

    #20121 1 year ago
    Quoted from ramegoom:

Hosted a friendly "Slot Competition" game with the neighborhood. Six people per set, 8 slot machines to choose from. Several 10 minute sets, two pounds of tokens per ten-buck buy-in, and in the end, 1st, 2nd. and 3rd place winners split the kitty.
I have a variety of different machines there so you won't get bored. Then there are the bar-flies...
70 people piled into the game room. Nice crowd, so we do this a few times throughout the year.

My game room is primarily Bally EM slots. I like to have people over to play them but never thought of running a slot competition instead of just giving them rolls of coins. That would give people an incentive to play them more which would be great; the more use the better.

Every time I see a video of your game room, I try to identify your machines but although I can see some EMs and some digital, I can't specifically identify them because you pan too fast.

how do you like the Megatouch? I'm thinking of getting one sometime soon due to nostalgia , but haven't looked into whether I could just play everything on there on an ipad easily enough.

That's poppycock, lol! No we are not. I'm Canadian, proud of it! I like having our great friends south of our border (and upper left Alaska, lol), it's not always perfect, but that's expected between friends. And the US probably prefer having us there (longest undefended border in the world) than having some other less desirable neighbor, imho.

Mike, Track & Field is a very addictive game. It’s hard on the wrists after a while, however.

Mine gets a ton of play. Something for everyone when the family is over (and is the hands-down favorite among the grandma crowd).

Yes, you can get a lot of those types of games on an iPad, but for ease-of-use and approachability, it can't be beat. And compared to the price of a pin...priced right! (~$500 for a late model LCD version)

I have the replica mini Dragons Lair and kept playing until I reached the end. Even so, I’m not able to get very far without lots of lives. I know about 1/3 of the rooms by heart and can navigate them. But the game can reverse the rooms so that the moves are also reversed, which adds a wrinkle. I love the animation and story, but I do wish the game was a little more about making decisions than simply lightning fast reflexes. Maybe more like a touch of Zelda RPG somehow. Still, a classic quarter eater!

Thanks, ST has really grown on me, I hadn't played it for a long time with all the newer pins I had but just started to play it a lot more.

I was trying to go with hardware eras, all the Stern LCDs together and the other wall Stern SAM games, eventually I will move Metallica over to the SAM lineup when I add another LCD game.
