    Quoted from orlandu81:

Being from Paramus I would think you would be a Parkway guy...

Yeah, I went to HS in Paramus, but actually lived in Teaneck (closer to the Turnpike). Nothing beats the religion out of you better than Catholic school.

    Quoted from Nazz26:

After 14 long months of waiting for the house to be done. The day came and first room to be furnished of course the Game room. I angled them for now but will have to rearrange..Halloween CE on order.

    Lovely

    Quoted from orlandu81:

Really nice room. I was born and raised in NJ, and I think you have captured the essence quite well.
I was 153B, I assume you are right around there.

    Quoted from mbeardsley:

Not sure what exit that is on the Parkway - most people go by their Turnpike exit (18W for me).

    Glad you liked the room!

I'm technically off of 159, which is for I-80 in Saddle Brook, although when heading north, I always exit at 157 (US-46 East) in order to beat the now $2.00 toll.

    Quoted from mbeardsley:

He's in Saddle Brook, which is very close to where I went to High School (Paramus Catholic).

My son is currently attending Bergen Tech in Paramus for part of his school day; he's studying graphic design.

    Quoted from orlandu81:

In my experience it is quite the opposite, I guess it depends on where in NJ you are from. Everyone I know from NJ when they find out I'm from NJ they ask me what my parkway exit was. Same thing at my alma mater (Go Scarlet Knights)! Being from Paramus I would think you would be a Parkway guy...
I was 16W off of the Turnpike not that you were asking

For the first 35 years of my life, I lived in North Bergen, in Hudson County, so I was TP exit 16E. Now it's either 18W or 18E; they both merge together at the end, so it matters not.

Sorry for all of the Jersey talk everyone. You may now return to your regular programming, already in progress...

Ted has been successfully extracted and is ready for rebuild. Did a cleaning of the playfield and going to change rubbers while everything is apart.

why do people keep posting pics of their projects in this thread? This is a "show us your gameroom" thread... not a "what are you working on now" thread.

If you look at the gallery of this thread, there’s really not projects showcased... the projects are mostly in the club threads... put politely; show off the game in the room after you finish your fine fine work

Will post a pic in a couple hours of the new front four.

Lost World is coming back from a playfield swap in an hour or two. I'm standing waiting at the end of the driveway, jumping up and down and holding my dick.

We need to change the title of this thread to "what are you working on now".

Lovely house but I need you to put the pinball games up against the wall ASAP. That staggered diagonal look is just wrong. It's hurting my sensibilities. You'll still have room between the pins for the arcade game.

Your 100 percent right. If I move them against the wall I will be able to fit 3 or maybe 4 more machines. It’s temporary for now as I have a garage full of furniture and boxes that still need to be unpacked..

Yeah the cab was restored by the guy i bought it off. Was when i first started collecting and only had 2 machines.

I went with a mate on a 8hr drive so he could look at a Thunderbirds of all things to put on location.
The guy had a nice blacklit game room with 6 or 8 games there and i fell in love with this one and bought it then and there.

He did his best with the playfield, but it was a Lost Cause. CPR released a short run a few months ago and it was a no brainer.

He never bought the Thunderbirds, but i can't see myself ever selling this.

Gameroom construction. Anyone care to offer suggestions on how to save this disaster before I have it all ripped out? This is not how you box in duct work. Disgusted.

I'd work a horizontal piece across the bottom of either side, but then the cross pieces need to be cut shorter.

In that 1st pic it appears that the framing job is going to result in that electrical junction box/service panel being sealed in the wall. IIRC NEC doesn't allow that so you might want to have something done there as well.

I see it now. There’s actually a drop ceiling going in. Does that make a difference?

As for the soffit apparently he plans to do something called scabbing. I’m not familiar with the technique.

Do you mean the cable tv wires on the gray block of wood? That’s actually a storage area under the steps. There will be a door to get in there. If it’s something else please let me know. In the first picture that wire hanging down is actually the flex water line going upstairs to the ice maker. But I should move that now that I see how it is.

If you've got junction boxes in the ceiling and you've got a drop ceiling going in then you're good. It's about access.

So many things wrong with that framing job.

In the second pic, what's up with the framing in front of the window? Why is the opening so high?

    Is this being inspected?

    #19485 2 years ago

I think this could have a whole thread of its own.

    Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

The framing has already been inspected and it somehow passed. The window was boxed out because we thought the drop ceiling would partially cover the window. The ledge of the concrete block is tilted. The framing would just make the window sill level. I’ll take another look at that whole box. I may have that removed.

    #19487 2 years ago

This whole thing is stressing me out!

    #19488 2 years ago
    Quoted from phillyfan64:

This whole thing is stressing me out!

The fact it passed inspection kinda gives the framers an out. When I see soffit work like that, it just tells me how they do all their work.

Just in pics I can see cracked framing members and some locations have one nail and some two.

And the fact they tow nailed everything doesn't help. Walls and soffit pieces should be built in one piece then set in place.

I was never a framer but being a retired electrician, I saw my share of good and bad framing jobs.

    #19489 2 years ago
    Quoted from phillyfan64:

Gameroom construction. Anyone care to offer suggestions on how to save this disaster before I have it all ripped out? This is not how you box in duct work.

Does this help visualize what you need to do? I don't have a straight on picture, but it will help. You can see my soffit at the top left of the picture. You just need another 2 x 4 at the bottom to create essentially a ladder. One of those goes at each side of the duct work and then just connect them with a 2 x 4.

On a side note, you might want to start a build thread so people can offer assistance and it doesn't get jumbled up with the rest of the posts. My Dad and I finished my entire basement, so I'm more than happy to help.

Edit -> This guy does a great job of explaining things. I actually spent the $100 for his training videos before I started doing mine. It was worth 10x that amount. He does everything and shows you how to do it from start to finish assuming that you don't know anything. From he has on YouTube for free.

Basement framing inspections are a joke. There's nothing structural going on. Everything is done solely to have a place to nail up electrical boxes and drywall.

At least he's got pressure treated against the concrete.

Just picked up a nice Judge Dredd yesterday from fxdwg! Added some adjustable height bar stools from Amazon and cut down and raised my table to make more room for pins. Still have room left for 1 more! Tried a panoramic picture at the end to get the whole main gameroom in one shot.

Thanks! I would love an Indiana Jones, it’s one of my wife’s favorite games and I enjoy it as well. Unfortunately it’s going to be out of our price range. I’m hoping Jaws is released from Stern and I would add a pro in a year or two.
