    Quoted from punkin:

Kitchen/bathroom and entrance to my container house.

Okay. You are living my dream. I need to put some focus on creating a space like this to exist in.

Not sure what kind of zoning regulations exist down under, but people get weird here in the USA when you take a commercial space and start to do fun things in it like you have done.

You either own the building, or your landlord is super cool. Or you might be super cool yourself and folks just turn a blind eye to what you have created and go "O it's just punkin!"

Anyway...............aside from the nice lineup of games you have a jacuzzi, washer dryer, full kitchen, and park your boat, cars, and motorcycles in your living space?

Living the dream. Good job man.

Thanks, yes technically illegal, but pretty common. The landlord lives down the back and there's three girls live in units upstairs. Nearly all the sheds round here have someone or other living in them. Up until you start having clothes on a washing line and kids toys in the yard you are alright, just keep it cool and it's all good.

Wait, wait, wait.... About these three girls....

I remember when I was stopping at 5...the "denial phase" as they say in psychology. You'll be doubled up and in "acceptance" with the rest of us soon enough. Looks great in your space!

I forced myself to stop at 5 for 13ish years...then the bug hit me again and promptly bought 1 used and 3 more NiB.

Two of them are together and the other one is waiting for another girl in her life.

So the three are "working girls" and he's their manager?

Been a long time coming but finally ready to put my game room together. More pics to follow once I get everything set up. Been waiting almost 4 years to get this done. The house we bought has a barn style garage with an upstairs. Building is basically 20 X 40. Usable space upstairs is smaller but it will work fine for 5-10 games. Still finishing up a few details (touch up paint and such) but put UV tint on the windows yesterday and will be adding blinds for sure. Lights are on a dimmer so will be perfect for the games. AC/heat upstairs and downstairs. Gonna be great to work on projects and not sweat my ass off.

    Quoted from moat-pin:

Are there other hobbies where this happens so prolifically? It’s literally same story for 90% of people. Person buys one pinball. Person says that is enough. Person quickly reneges and says will get a second one (for some reason like variety, or in case one breaks, or this one is for my kid). Then 2 becomes 4-30. I know this been said before many times but just fascinating.

I bought my first pin at an arcade auction, and I almost sold the pin I won (Working Super Mario Bros for $625) at the end of the day at the auction site because I thought it was a mistake to buy a pinball machine.
Many years later I am happy I didn’t!

Cervelle home? We almost bought a home there. Bought in League City instead. Nice job on the build out looks great! I only finished out the upstairs. Didn’t do the garage or stairwell.

    #19019 2 years ago

Yes it’s Cervelle. It was a tough decision to do the downstairs but I had to gut up and downstairs as the previous owner had it finished out but it was all rustic…..rusty tin on the ceilings, uneven wood floors and had small air units for AC upstairs….best option was to finish it out correctly. Could have gone with a mini split but weighed options and for not much more I just put a full unit in and can cool downstairs as well. The worst part was had to upgrade electrical to the house….main panel was only 100 amps and only 30 amps to the garage. The house was already pulling about 70 so had to upgrade to a 200 amp for the house and then was able to get 100 amp ran to the garage….even to run a mini split I would have had to do the same thing. Don’t understand with these new big houses why a 200 amp main panel is not standard. It is what it is….it’s an awkward space but enough for a game room so the wife can have the house back LOL!

Yours looks to be pretty similar layout as mine….would like to check it out sometime.

    #19020 2 years ago

Yeah, sounds like a plan. I went with a full a/c unit too. I had a 200 amp breaker so I didn’t have to upgrade. I’m gonna have to put another circuit in because of the growing collection. Mine is 20x60 but I cut out a section for a storage and game repair closet.

My basement. Still in progress, I need to do some artistic things done to the walls but it served quite a few game evenings with friends.

Outrun is done, TZ is fully restored, Whirlwind needs to be restored (whenever I can find some time for that).
Those posters Pixels, Bad Boys and Sonic are illuminated movie posters and I love them.

The banner above the black wall is a custom made pac-man sticker. It contains all characters in every position, all the bonus sprites, the absolute max highscore (3.333.360) and the kill screen on the right.

I also added almost all of the kong off marquees except for kong off 1. Also there all the originial donkey kong (repro) marquees mounted and one custom halloween one.

The MsPacman, Track and Field are original and are restore projects. The cocktail table will be converted to a 60 in 1 table.

Oh man, a battle pod would be awesome to have! That thing looks super difficult to move.

Actually the pod has heavy duty casters which makes it very easy to move around. Not easy to transport though!

Quite impressed, the thought of getting machines up a few flights of stairs is now out of the question for me! I shutter at the prospect when I'm pinned between the railing and wall with a 250lb game waiting for an inspirational push up!

    #19043 2 years ago

An escalara is your BEST FRIEND if you have to deal with stairs regularly. You still need at least 2 experienced people as things can go wrong even with an escalara. This is a new space for me so I haven’t had to deal with stairs at my house. Luckily I have a close friend with an escalara……will probably get one. Once you get used to them it’s not as daunting. Sucks to spend the money on one but worth it.

I have dealt with tight spots where the only option is to go up and over the rail…need 3-4 people for those situations. Worst case is having bought a game not knowing it was upstairs and no help. Pull the playfield then move the cabinet, and the head and then put it back together. Not a big deal really but can be a pain.

I love that you've got space for drinks, but you don't waste room with an actual bar. Nicely done.

Ill second this! Rarely do you sit at a gameroom bar. A nice barback is a good option.

Agree, as long as you have room for the liquid you are good

Before I started getting my own pins I had a bar between the beam and wall and it was a waste of space. Basement flooded in 2014 and when I rebuilt I knew I wanted to eventually get pins down there so I built the bar on the wall. Much better allocation of space, and still plenty of room for whiskey!
