Thank you! Yeah it probably is, I think I grabbed it at Walmart or Target for $10-$20

    Cool.....super super cool.

    Beautiful looking room.
    Thanks for sharing.

    Quoted from herbertbsharp:

Tore out 1/2 the 2nd floor of this old addition on my house and turned the whole thing into a game room with a loft. My favorite addition is the animated neon kung-fu sign hanging from the loft. Picked up a bunch of new games for the line-up in the last couple weeks and I'm really liking where I'm at with it right now. BTW this is the main entrance to my house LOL

Love it! As a fellow "lofter" I appreciate your space AND the fact that you can walk around up there. Beautifully done!

First time poster here. These game rooms are amazing! We have an established room that has grown quite a bit over the pandemic. My husband's birthday is coming up and I'd love to surprise him a neon sign but don't even know where to begin! We have mostly pinball. Was thinking Pinball Alley or something like that. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

    #18705 2 years ago

    Pinball Ally seems more popular.

I haven't bought one, but a while ago I was looking for a pinball themed neon sign and found plenty of them on Amazon as well as Ebay. Some came from China, which I would not recommend buying, but many were also from America. I'm sure you can find one you want at either site.

I think that if you search the topics that you will find a neon sign thread. There are many ideas and tips on it.

Also, if you want to see something awesome, here is Ryan Claytor's game room remodel thread with the awesome Neon sign he designed for it -

I am sure your husband would love a custom neon sign like this designed by Ryan - I know I would!

Been awhile since I updated the game room picks. Mando will go where taxi is if it ever ships. Will be good to have three games again.

Was out of the hobby for a few years and came back with a vengeance in 2021 (thanks COVID). My humble game room, have room for 2 more without to much re-organizing - will most likely be a Deadpool in the next run and perhaps a Godzilla (just love modern sterns). Insider connected kits on order, can’t wait to try out the system and start collecting achievements. Opposite the gaming area is our home theatre space (100 inch screen running off a 4K projector), I spend many a chilly winter evening watching hockey and playing pinball! This winter project will be building a bar and food prep space in the hallway at the entrance to the room.

Not as big as a lot of game rooms but coming together nonetheless. I'm blessed to have a girlfriend who doesn't mind and in fact supports the machines being in the main area of the house.

Nothing wrong with the room size it's how you work it to get the maximum fun out of it.

Finally showing off the room! You did an amazing job and you should be proud of it, dude!

I’d like to take some credit for hounding him to get rid the “all LCD” lineup (minus W2O) and add in some classics! LCD’s are great but we rarely played. Now with all these bomb ass classics we play hours on end! It rekindles the passion, good for the soul!

After denting the bar fridge a few times we changed ends for breaks. I also figured out how to break without sending the cue airborne.

My parents have that exact same pool table with the exception of the lower legs! If our pool table could talk about some of the parties it has seen through the 70's and 80's......

Same here. My dad installed a pool table he bought from a bar for a couple hundred bucks in the mid 70’s. That thing weighed hundreds of pounds and had coin mechs and the wood channels to return the balls. I can still hear that echo. When he died in 2019 and I sold the house, the table stayed. In the 90’s I had dozens of parties and all-night games listening to Primus, 311, Alice In Chains, Led Zep, Pink Floyd and more while smoking and drinking and sinking bank shots. Good times. That table has seen some things.

    #18725 2 years ago

I have to say, I'm glad a have the pool table and dart board. When the crew comes over to play pinball, it's nice to take a break and play some pool and darts to break things up. I too plan to sell it with the house as I don't want to move it again!

    #18726 2 years ago

Got given one a few years ago, swapped it to a mate for a carton of beer.

it's been waiting here ever since on the roof of my spare house for him to pick up and i rang him last night and said i'm going to put it on the street because i want to put a spare boat on the roof. No interest in pool.

if you like the idea of pool-- the social aspect, the dexterity, the satisfaction-- but don't like the huge amount of real estate it takes up, might I suggest Bar Billiards? http://pinballnovice.blogspot.com/2021/07/a-note-on-bar-billiards.html

here's the video from my link:

Bar billiards is very popular where I live with almost every pub having a team. I played league in my teens and twenties and now I'm googling how much bar billards tables are so thanks for that! Ha-ha

I have more pics of Bar Billiards in this post: https://pinballnovice.blogspot.com/2021/10/bagatelle-notes-pigeon-hole-trou-madam.html
    (scroll halfway down)
and if you want more context on how bar billiards actually has a common ancestor with pinball, here's a broader overview I did on 'things that get called bagatelle': http://pinballnovice.blogspot.com/2021/10/on-naming-bagatelles.html

If you put bar billiards in a line-up you might want to leave room for you to shimmy up one side to set the skittles and clear any errant balls, but really you could just lean over and clear any balls with a billiards bridge (used like a rake) and using one of those claw-hand tools to set the skittles (those wooden mushroom-looking things) up from the front.

I found this listing and it says the table is approx 72"x 36" https://www.antiques-atlas.com/antique/e_j_riley_bar_billiard_table_slate_bed_solid_oak/as932a006
so it's about 7" wider than a pinball machine, and 21" longer, but would probably fit neatly in most people's lineups.
(table dimensions can vary per manufacturer, but not wildly)
some tables (like the one I just linked) have a score board along the back that you would need to physically access, but most tables I've seen don't have a mounted scoreboard like that, and a bar would typically have a separated scoreboard elsewhere. You can keep tabs on your phone or a piece of paper.

this one is also 72": https://www.mastersofgames.com/cat/pub/bar-billiards-tables-new.htm
    separate scoreboard: https://www.mastersofgames.com/cat/pub/bar-billiards-scoreboards.htm

You can check out masterofgames.com for parts to build your own. Looks like they sold nice oak, coin op tables for roughly 3000 pounds.

I found a few table top ones for $700 pounds but think a full size table would be the way to go. I think I could build one for around a grand. Maybe a 2022 project? Still have a old bank shuffle board to restore first.

Changed and added some stuff to the game room over the last 5 months. Not much more wall space to fill.
