I'm sure this is a ridiculous question to many, but what's an easy inexpensive way to
record and add Carousel music to the Merry-go-Round? Thanks for any suggestions.. (T)
    [quoted image]

Stuff a hockey puck Alexa inside it, then just say "Alexa, play carousel music".

Over the weekend I built a stand and put a revolving Merry-go-Round (that I picked
up over the Summer) above the pellet stove. I'm 100% EM and know nothing about
sound components but the 1956 "Peppy the Clown" I have has a modern sound device
    to play its music..

if you need any I have some recordings of old mechanical music machines that might be a good thematic fit

More of a video than a picture but it's a tour of a private games room/pinball collection.

A bit of pinball talk first then we tour the machines after 26mins

This will be an ongoing series hopefully.

    Thanks

Not plug-and-play but fairly easy to setup.

Thanks. I'll be checking that out..

Sounds good. Thanks. I'll 100% be keeping that in mind..

Good thought , but I must say, my first request will be "Where can I locate a Ski-Bowlette!"

    Quoted from atrainn:

I spent some time last weekend rearranging the basement so I could finally lug DDR in there after spending the past two years living in the garage. It's awesome to have everything in the same place now! The previous owner of the house turned the basement into an apartment, so DDR is in the kitchen portion that pretty much never gets used. We baked rolls in the oven last Thanksgiving but that's kind of it.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

This collection is AWESOME! I love the mix of pinball, arcade, candy cabs, and motion type games. Great job

    #18357 2 years ago
    Quoted from semicolin:

I think the arcade is finally done enough to give you all the video tour:

Excellent hang-out! Love those 80's games!!

It looks like your stove is very close to the wall, also where I come from, you should have at least 18"of fireproof flooring in front of it. It could get very warm above the stove for that carousel, I wouldn't place it there.

We Had another outdoor movie night last night, and the game room was pretty popular beforehand. It’s getting pretty crowded in there since making space for mando, I guess it’s time to start finishing some other space in the basement for some future expansion…

Finally got my father in law’s games set up n his new house after 6 months in storage. Had to wait for a bedroom to be built in the unfinished portion of the basement so the gameroom space could be reclaimed.

Pellet Stoves have different restrictions. The forced air heat exits from the front. While in operation, the one
in the lower game room I can place my hand on the sides for a while. On the top, as long as I want.. This one's
the exact same make and model..

They are indeed the nanoleaf panels. You can light them up any way you would like. I also like that I can turn them all on bright white, so the whole game room it nice and bright when I’m working on the machines

Haha, couldn’t agree more. More than jealousy it just makes me wish we all lived closer and could rotate around each other’s game rooms! Most people with these awesome game rooms are super friendly and welcoming…I just can’t drive 15 hours to hang out.

How did you mount those Nanoleaf things? I bought some for my son’s room and they come with these awful sticker mounts that I do not want to use on the walls I just painted.

    Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

How did you mount those Nanoleaf things? I bought some for my son’s room and they come with these awful sticker mounts that I do not want to use on the walls I just painted.

I used 3m industrial velcro: Scotch 3M SJ4570 Dual Lock Low Profile Adhesive Fastener 5/8" Wide SKU: Length: 50FT Total: ebay.com link: itm

But I wanted to make sure they would hold tight to the ceiling and not come down. I prepped them with adhesive promoter and wiped the wall area with isopropyl alcohol and they have been holding good for about a year.

I have hear of people using command strips with good success. place a strip at the three tips and leave the pull tab out enough to pull and release the tile if you want to take them down in the future without damaging the wall. that might be a good option. but I those can get pretty pricey quick.

I have purchased over 100 nanoleafs and have found the ones that come with it do a good job if you are sticking them vertically to the wall. If you want ceiling action, I went with the large command strips. And yes it gets pricey, but still cheap compared to how much you paid for each panel.

    #18380 2 years ago

Thanks guys, sounds like command strips are the way to go

Wow great find. Not easy as most of them were fully destroyed (especially the top unit) before leaving any casino. Had a guy in OH that was recreating these I almost bought but just didn't pull the trigger. Good find.

Dumb question but why were they destroyed before leaving the casinos?

    #18388 2 years ago
    Quoted from bintzknocker:

They are leased to the casino. The casino has a contract to destroy them when they are done using them. They either need to be built from scratch or parted together or possibly hot to get one for personal use.

I was actually willing to pay quite a bit more for a newer one but they are basically unattainable.

Yeah everyone is different and that is what is so cool about collecting. I appreciate the slots posted above but they would would look outta of place in the game house.

Growing up in the 80’s/90’s WOF is the grail for us and was my dad’s dream acquisition.

The game house is 90’s arcade/unta club/bar and has a very distinct feel. If you are ever in the area let me know and really anyone can check it out.

I’ll blame it on age, although I don’t yet know if I’m too old to know or too young.
