Having an open door to my workshop didn’t fit the look of the arcade, so I dusted off the sewing machine and banged out some Japanese-style noren curtains.

Where did you get your speaker light kits from? It looks really good on Mando, and I am going to be getting one soon.

    #18308 2 years ago

Thanks for all the positive comments on my basement. The Mario brothers art I did myself after seeing someone else do it. I got obsessed with LEGO as I was a huge fan as a kid just couldn’t ever afford the bigger sets so now I just buy every set I want. Also built the custom arcade and decked it out with LEGO accents.

I have the same Pachinko game. The fourth reel is the best feature.

I added a lifter to the inside from a user on pachitalk. They 3d printed a mechanism and it works pretty well.

I spent some time last weekend rearranging the basement so I could finally lug DDR in there after spending the past two years living in the garage. It's awesome to have everything in the same place now! The previous owner of the house turned the basement into an apartment, so DDR is in the kitchen portion that pretty much never gets used. We baked rolls in the oven last Thanksgiving but that's kind of it.

Hey it's me, your new best friend!

Nice game room - i'm just starting on mine! What is that cube game thing?

Hello best friend! It's Jubeat, a really cool rhythm game, here's a video of some guy playing it who is way better than me:

I'm a huge fan of rhythm games. Probably going to grab a Groovecoaster next.

    #18316 2 years ago

I'd love a DDR or a stepmaniax. Fun way to work up a sweat and would be great at party's. They look like heavy/awkward beasts though

Love the Stepmaniax and DDR too, only problem with these games at least DDR is the music sucks on them. Is there anyway to put current music on these machines or old school 90's hip hop?

At first I didn’t recognize any of the songs on stepmaniax. There are hundreds to choose from but I have about 10-15 that I always play and really enjoy. They release new songs every month but I also enjoy dance songs. You do get used to them and start enjoying them the more you play just like some pinball machines . I also have a pc hooked up to it and you can put custom songs on it as long as you can find them online. When using the pc I have to use a keyboard etc so not an arcade feel but it gets the job done. They also sell the pads separately and you can hook up a pc to it and have your custom songs and not use their software.

The pads are surprisingly easy to move if you take the bar off of them. The cab was much less fun to move though

Is that a DDR in the kitchen lol
    Make it happen!

    #18322 2 years ago

I really, really, really want a Sega Flashbeats.

If anyone has a working one for sale, let me know.

Love the combo tween the beats and the fluro style tubes.

The oven door fully opens without issue, so the next time we use that oven (probably Thanksgiving) we'll just have to not play ddr

You can't load any songs onto the StepManiaX directly using their software. What they include is what you get, and can't change it. It's not normally my kind of music, but with the huge variety I find myself surprised at what I like and haven't really felt the need to switch over.

As Medic indicated, you CAN hook up a PC to the StepmaniaX hardware. I have a KVM switch which I use to switch between the included hardware and my external PC which uses the cabinets amp, touch screen monitor, and pads. The PC could emulate other dance games (i.e., DDR, etc.) or you can use StepMania (different from StepManiaX) to either make your own steps to any song you want, or download stuff others have made to run on your cabinet. StepMania is an open source (free) dance software which is really easy to use to make your own custom stuff using any MP3 file. No programming required.

I just heard of that machine about 10 minutes ago on a old episode (48) of the Slam Tilt pinball podcast.

Added a multicade yesterday. Now you guys have me looking for a rhythm game locally. This is becoming an expensive thread to follow.

It’s been 5 months since post#17306. Here’s an update. Construction in the home stretch. Hopefully a December move in.
Lower pics will be my game room. Game rooms are like sheds, they can never be big enough..

Well, after going through 10 machines (on and off) during late Spring and Summer, it's time
to concentrate once again on the latest game room.
The Pellet Stove's in position, and next will be a little fabrication for a (hopefully semi-camouflage)
stand for the little rotating Merry-go-Round that I picked up over the Summer which will be sitting
    above the Pellet Stove..

I immediately thought back to the fraternity days.. until you said the bottle was empty.
Back then, If someone “accidentally” put a hole in the wall, a full bottle went in and was patched in. Anybody else experience this?

Been looking a few yrs on and off for this.
Pins too expensive... now to round out the cave...

Finally found, illuminated with couple boxes of letters.

Help me make it say something cool.

Very cool I like the Coke theming.
Since it has 3 areas to it and you have 3 games I would put the title of each game on it and below that the current high scores with initials

I know I've posted a few static pictures already, but I finally finished installing the blacklight projectors and getting the other finishing touches in place. I think the arcade is finally done enough to give you all the video tour:

I found one years ago at a farm auction for $25 except it had coke, diet coke and sprite signs. Cleaned up good and worked but it was too big for my 9'x10' gameroom so I sold/traded it to my mechanic for a few hours labor. Looks better in his large shop with high ceilings

Over the weekend I built a stand and put a revolving Merry-go-Round (that I picked
up over the Summer) above the pellet stove. I'm 100% EM and know nothing about
sound components but the 1956 "Peppy the Clown" I have has a modern sound device
    to play its music..
I'm sure this is a ridiculous question to many, but what's an easy inexpensive way to
record and add Carousel music to the Merry-go-Round? Thanks for any suggestions.. (T)

Not plug-and-play but fairly easy to setup.
