Wait, back up the truck. How did you get your hands on a 3090 GPU?
You’re mining with that when you’re not gaming right? That thing should bring in about $210/month.

I bought an FE in November for msrp. At the time I felt like an idiot spending $1500 on a GPU, but now it seems like I got a deal lol.

    Quoted from ShrimpPimp:

When I was dreaming up ideas for the game room my wife kept saying I was going overboard. Then Covid hit and our house became the favorite local hangout for our friends and family. We have two beers on draft as well as a 12ft shuffleboard table to the left of the pins. I have yet to figure out where to put my Mandalorian LE and Iron Man Premium I have coming in the next few months.

    Absolutely beautiful!

Cool graffiti on the garage door! Are you the artist?

    No I wish, lol
I had it done by an artist, she did it by hand with a pic I gave her.

Totally a gaming computer. I paid a little over retail for the 3090. Computer is a bit old. I9-9900. 5tb of SSD storage (2tb +1tb M.2 pcie and 2tb ssd)

I am looking for art/mural for inside garage doors. Anyone have any examples or a good place to start looking?

    Thanks,

I like the giant vinyl fathead stickers. We had a bunch in our old house and they were cool.

Maybe look into photography backdrops. I used a couple in my golf sim to dress up the walls instead of paint. Just make sure the pic is HD and read reviews because some of the cheaper ones are a little washed out or blurry. They come in different sizes so you should be able to find something that will completely cover the door. Also it will bend with door when it opens.

When it’s sent out it has folds and creases that can be steamed out from the backside. Something I was too lazy to do as you can see in my sim, so you can see the folds

Chris at HEP has some cool-looking graphics. You can see some of it in this pic. I remember seeing other pics he posted where these are better shown, but there are more than 19,000 total pics in his thread so it will take a while to find them, but I found this one.

Hey Mike... I thought this post for BBB artwork was really cool. I tried to copy and paste it in here. So not sure if it will show correctly, tho.

Hire a graffiti artist. It's much cheaper than you think.

    #17714 2 years ago

I need the garage to be able to still open and close so I need something that will fit in the panels. I may looking into the graffiti artist kind of seems like my style.

    Thanks

The local artist i use has a studio and takes on large shows etc and he still only charges about the same as having the walls painted white.

They can do textures just fine.

One of my 'pandemic crazy' projects was building a driving sim, still trying to figure out how to rearrange some of the stuff it displaced. The corner with the Neo Geo cab and dual monitors is definitely a work in progress.

This is my setup in an apartment. The neighbours’ bedroom backs my machines, so I have some good sound absorption panels on the way. My building is generally pretty quiet, so I don’t foresee any issues.

I had to move things around when I got Ripley’s last week. What is now the rec. room was once the dining room. The now dining room was once the sitting room, and the now sitting room had the Shadow on a 45 degree angle blocking half a window. I think it looks so much better now, and wouldn’t you know it, there’s space for one more machine with the new arrangement…

Looks great, but I’d be worried about direct sunlight on that Ripley’s. It doesn’t take much to fade these machines. Otherwise congratulations. You have a very nice pair of games and an incredible view.

    #17734 2 years ago

It’s a pretty gross day today, but if it’s nice you can see Vancouver Island in the distance.

I’m super diligent about having the blinds down when the sun is in the right spot for fading. Definitely thinking about some sort of UV film on the window.

I actually haven’t tried anything Elvira, but I’ll keep it in mind. I’ve only been into pinball during COVID, so as places open up I’m beyond excited to start playing more machines, and playing in leagues and tournaments.

You need to get aurich's alternate shadow translite

You need to get aurich's alternate shadow translite

It's actually funny to me to see the original now, I'm so used to mine not only on my machine but basically every other one I ever see in person at this point. Nothing wrong with it if you prefer staying original though.

Not trying to advertise in this thread, but I'm organizing a run right now, and once it's over I never know when/if I'll do another. So if you'll pardon the self promotion this is what it looks like aFineMoose since you're newer to Pinside and maybe not familiar. No biggie if you prefer Baldwin.

Myself I prefer original of everything, the issue with the original 'Baldwin' is that it's not! Lol some other guy's face - guessing they never had the license from the actor back then? Wouldn't know..

But let's call the original the duck-billed version from now on

    #17738 2 years ago

I really don't have a problem with Baldwin himself, I just thought that The Shadow game should feature ... The Shadow. Not a guy in a tux. I made the translite for myself and thought maybe 10 other people might like one.

Your alternate art package for The Shadow is fantastic! I already have one on my Shadow, but if mine is scratched I’m adding my name to the list for a new one! So cool you are doing another run. Your Star Trek translite is incredible.

I believe the operator I got Ripley’s from owned the machines that were at Pub 340. I also think Pub 340 is no more, but don’t quote me on it. Anyways, said op opened a temporary arcade a few minutes from my home and it’s been amazing getting the chance to play all these machines I’ve only read about.

My verdict from spending time at that arcade? I absolutely love Funhouse because it 100% feels like the most advanced children’s toy ever made.

Oh yeah, brackets. The bar and column have hidden countertop heavy duty brackets, so they aren't visible unless you get low to the ground and look underneath the overhang. The back game room granite has has fairly standard brackets mounted to the wall.

7 standard body pins is 5.5m with carpet. On concrete or vinyl you may want to widen it a little for the sliders.

How deep into arcade machines are you? Do you wanna stick with the well-known classic 80s titles, or maybe get a little more obscure? Looks like you've got a multicade setup already. If I were you I would get a dedicated cabinet of something I really like. Also consider this FPGA Jamma board called the Bitkit which is great. Has some more obscure but very fun titles on it:
