I spent the other week completely redoing my arcade room. The Blacklight paint took 5 coats! I was going for the retro wave 80s look. The UV color doesn't pop in photos. I thought the mural was good use for the 17 inches I had above the pins.

Next time, drill your holes farther away from the boxes. At least a good foot away.
Trust me, it'll be easier getting the wires in the boxes and stapling.

Is there a "Building a game room" thread? I think there's so much that people need to know about wiring, plumbing, painting and general construction. It's be nice to have a thread for asking questions, instead of finding out in this thread that they made a pile of mistakes once they post their pictures.

What type of paint did you use? Brand/colors? I always wonder about adding fluorescent pigments to existing latex paint.
Your gun game is not fun anymore since you ran out of tequila.

It was byob, someone left me the game box when they came to play music on my stereo

So glad you let us know the height of that stool. That would have been Quite the cliff hanger not knowing... Funny vid.

Good question, it was trial and error. The stuff from the craft store is a different color under blacklight. Invisible flourescent isn't strong enough. The best was this from amazon.

What can I say, I’m proud of my space 8-)
I found an old digital picture frame in the bottom of a drawer that I loaded up with a few hundred game flyer images and turned into a gameroom wall decoration. It wasn't designed to do portraits so I had to drill a vertical mounting hole and per-rotate the images. And the wood part of the frame was too chunky and "living room-looking" so I ripped it down and painted it. On the plus side it's smart enough automatically go to slideshow upon power up. It's plugged into a switched outlet and starts running with the rest of the room lighting. The slideshow runs for about 45 minutes before repeating.

At 3.5%, the ale isn't that wild! Guess you just make up for that by drinking more.

It's Mild not Wild. It is a mid strength beer.

Now I see it; must be an Australian thing. Still, just drink more!
Just picked this up at a Home Buy store my sis works at the day it came in. I got this for $248.00 bucks!! It was a floor model but it is in pristine condition, still has the blue film on it that protects the moldings. I was pumped and been playing it all day!

Luv it! But no way my girlfriend would have this in the house - she can't even watch a movie trailer with dolls in it!! Lol

Awesome video of your game room / workshop. Sweet setup.
Was that an Aerobie I saw? Nice find!

Thank you! the aerobie is our favorite way to keep the kids entertained, we throw it over the house in front of ours toward the park, then the kids try to find it. Last time it took a few days, kids would come back once in a while for a sandwich.
Quoted from weaverj:looks like my gameroom. machines all turned on; my son staring at what i assume is the tv.
hahaha same here. Usually on Fortnite

I'm sorry but this was the best thing I've seen in a while. It really made me smile.

I have a friend with an AMAZING collection of beautiful games that most of us would give an arm and a leg for. He tells me his kids only play Xbox in his gameroom

I know a guy who spent 20+ years building a model railroad down his basement. Awesome HO layout! And he said the same thing! His grand kids rather sit in a corner and play with their cell phones. This is truly disturbing to me!

LOL yep.
And I just bought a new LG OLED TV to (maybe) replace our Panasonic ZT65 plasma, which I've had for I think 8 years. The "Kuro Killer". The LG blows it away in terms of black levels, but there's a weird motion thing going on occasionally which is really distracting. Not Soap Opera motion, I've read it's because the OLED pixels light up SO fast it's unnatural to the eye.
Er, but anyway - we have a good collection of 4K movies, a PS4 Pro for 4K games, including Ghost of Tsushima and Shadow of the Colossus 4K... and all he plays is Fortnite. SMH. Although I have to say he was VERY excited to show me this week that they have "skins of the Street Fighter guys! You know, from the OLD game!" LOL

I get that one... Trains are boring as hell!

When I was a kid, that was the most awesome thing there was! And when I had a Grampa, I cherished my time with him! So sounds like there was issues! Sad.. I never had kids, and seeing what others are dealing with these days, I have to admit... I'm glad.
He should have built a cannon. Grandkids would never want to go home.
Specially if they could shoot their siblings out of it.

OMG! where did you get this? It is really awesome.

I got it from a local pinsider. Not sure where he got it though.
I'm going to build a new display case for it.

Maybe he should have gone with O guage and built the Addams Family layout complete with the "dynamite". Best part was when Gomez blew up the trains.

That looks great. It looks like it would be a very comfortable place to relax, have a drink, play some pinball, and socialize. You have interesting finishes on the walls, ceilings, etc; is it a historic home?
Except the fake slot machines; those need to be upgraded to real slot machines.

Thanks!!! Yes, it's a great place to relax! Me and the family as well as our friends enjoy coming down here regularly, and we find it hard to leave!
I agree, I would love to ultimately get some real slots up in there. I do have some vintage gas station condom machines coming that I'm going to put in that bathroom, and that'll add a little extra dimension to the bathroom and maybe take away from the fact that those slot machines, while they do take money, have working levers and spin, make noise and award jackpots, are nowhere near the real deal, hahaha...always fun and interesting to have a home bar bathroom where you can lose your money!

I'm no prude, but I can't really imagine my family hanging out looking at a rack of playboy magazines.
Quoted from yzfguy:I'm no prude, but I can't really imagine my family hanging out looking at a rack of playboy magazines.
Yup, we are collectors of vintage Playboy's, but suppose the argument would have been Heffs' as well, back in the day
In all sincerity, I do apologize if that picture of the bar with the the edge of a vintage magazine rack holding those magazines from the '60s and '70s offended you. I'm not being sarcastic, I suppose I probably should have thought about that before including that picture and not assume everyone would have appreciated that. Tell you what, as a proud supporter of this site, there may be others that might not like that either, so I'll go ahead and take that picture off.
But yeah man, we are a small adult family with eclectic tastes and of course, a large love for pinball
