Quoted from Skyemont:Does anyone have black carpet in their game room?
Lots of us do. They’re well worth the cost.

Solid black plush.
Quoted from yaksplat:Have them put a larger beam in and that column isn't necessary. I hate when architects skimp on beams. The additional cost for steel is less than the cost/labor of installing a column in such a short span.
ooohhhh.... they started construction a few weeks ago. This is already up. You're right though, that would be such a huge boost for the room... ugh...
Quoted from Skyemont:Does anyone have black carpet in their game room?
Oh yea. Black light carpet is awesome for an arcade.

Very nice but I need solid black. I have gray walls, white trim and black carpet would kick ass. I have checked everywhere. No luck.

It's like the old Simpsons episode where Marge tries to order coffee in a bar when they visit Australia. These folks are gonna get you blacklight carpet!

Have you called the black light carpet dealers? I believe mine was custom made and it started out as plain black carpet.

I bought a house in the mid 90s that had baby blue carpet, very nice but baby blue. I had someone come in and dye it a forest green to match our decor. Surprisingly not that expensive, and it looked pretty good. It is possible to do as a DYI too. Here is a youtube video. The key is you can only go from light to dark, but of course that is what you want to do.

LOVE your place Waldo.
Thanks for the tips guys on Black carpet. Looks like I found a local company but it’s a special order. Only $2 sq ft.
Quoted from ReadyPO:Ceiling drywall up, that's a major milestone
Yes, and 12 footers. 90% of the walls finished also.
The pellet stove will get ceramic tile, but still deciding on
the rest of the floor..
Quoted from Skyemont:Solid black plush.
My bad. I read that as black light carpet.
Quoted from blimpey:Fireplaces are overrated.
I think your wife is even cooler than my wife
-As for the black carpet I would love to see how it looks? I prefer plush carpet for gamerooms, I notice a huge difference playing in my rooms with plush carpet v.s. concrete. After 15 minutes playing on concrete-I can start to feel it in my back and feet. Go with a good carpet pad as well-you get what you pay for. Please post pics if you do black, I have seen dark gray and it looks good as well.
Quoted from Tigger:This forum has been very motivating for me. Greatly appreciate the inspiration. About 90% done.

Wouldn’t it look better with the pin and skeeball swapped? Then you’d have room for another pin too
Quoted from Luckydogg420:Wouldn’t it look better with the pin and skeeball swapped? Then you’d have room for another pin too
Great idea! I wanted to originally get rid of skeeball to make room for a pin but the kids love it. Now I can get a pin and keep kids and wife happy!
Quoted from Tigger:Now I can get a pin and keep kids
I'd have to sell the kids to get another pin.
I would be fearful of a skeeball through the backglass though.
I’ve had problems with kids throwing skeeballs overhand. You have to watch where the pinballs are in relation to the skeeball.

how high up is your ceiling there??
Quoted from rai:Love your collection, I should get some older pins.
we're at the point where a lineup of Addams, TOTAN, Twilight Zone looks very much like classic older pins.
It was a slowly encroaching feeling, but wow do DMD machines really now feel like a full generation ago.

Ya, when you look at what you can buy for $5k, $7k, or $10k; a lot of these titles that were a no-brainer 5 years ago now get a second guess.

It's all relative. I'd have to sell almost everything in the gameroom to get one of those JJP games. Like you though I am still grateful for what I have.

Haha never. It's for dolby atmos, so it sure as hell isn't coming down.

Well our tastes are very similar, as I'd love to have a twd and star trek!
I'd be putting a pointed cover on that speaker to stop people leaning on it or putting drinks on it.
Man, you all have these big basements... you should be lucky guys.
I have no space for more than 4 Pinballs... maybe if I would do some improvements, but not without loosing needed workspace.
So I have to leave it as it is... and I'm happy, too.
But to be honest, I have prepared the room on the other side where currently the sauna is.
If I get fed up of the sauna someday there's space for 5 more Pinballs.

Are the sauna and shower in the same room as the games? I'd be worried about how they'd affect the games...humidity, etc.
Quoted from cait001:how high up is your ceiling there??
I think it’s about 22’. I’ve been tempted to build a 2nd floor.

I wonder how people in the tropics are ever allowed to have pinballs?
Someone once said they thought it was terrible because i had pinballs near my spa bath....
I live a stones throw from the ocean, salt air is doing more to my machines than humidity.

No offense intended. I was just wondering because I also live very close to salt water and I've had some issues over the years because of it. Back in 2004 I bought Elvis NIB and within a month the metal ramps started developing black spots. I contacted the distributor (who happened to be Jersey Jack at the time), told him and he arranged to have Stern make some specially coated ramps for me. I still have those ramps in the game today with no corrosion. So, anyway, I'm just wondering about the effects of a sauna and nearby shower on your games. That's all.
No offence taken mate, it's not even my game room. I just see these comments often and wonder what people must think is all. Now i understand where you're coming from.

Are these pics showing a sauna and pins in the same room? Are you saying I can soft-boil my eggs while I watch someone reach wizard mode on IJ?
You win this thread. I won't see another setup like this one.
Yes, it's all in the same room and there's no issue with humidity or else.
I use my Pinballs in this room for more than 5 years without any problems, the room is ventilated and has perfect conditions.
And it's really true, you can use the sauna and watch someone playing pinball.
But I have a rule, everybody that breaks my records while I'm using the sauna, will be banned from the house.
Quoted from Indypin:Why would anyone downvote your gameroom? I think it looks awesome.
Probably because of the thin blue line flag. I served 25 years in law enforcement so sorry no apologies for it.
