Starting to design my game room basement under the new addition. Any feedback is welcome. Ceiling is 10' plenty of room and a blank canvas. The wife gets her rooms and I get mine.

Wow, that's awesome. Your gonna need a few more Comets!

Layout looks pretty good. Lots of room!

I would just say the Shuffle Board and darts area may need a tweak. Based upon how it looks, you can't play both at the same time unless the right shuffleboarder is willing to get hit by an errant dart. I may be looking at it wrong though.

Love the massage room. Are they 24 hours on site?

Is that a circular stair and a straight flight of stairs too?

    Quoted from ReadyPO:

Circular from the family room above, and straight from the garage and outside.

My wife's friend is a massage therapist so she's here often enough. I'll get that whole Zen atmosphere going in there.

The shuffle board is a future build that I'll do at some point. I'm sure once things are down there everything will change.

    #15806 3 years ago

So the red stairs lead outside for loading, or is there a way through the garage?

    #15807 3 years ago
    Quoted from jaytrem:

Both. The stairs act as an egress exit from the basement and lead directly outside without needing to enter the garage, but then also have garage access. Gotta work in the first floor shop too.

Edit, ah you said red stairs... Those are the steps between the existing 7' foundation and the new 10' foundation. The 45 degree angle between the bases of each footer pushes the two foundations about 4' apart.

We have a similar situation - Circular Stairs from Great room down to the game room with a walkout basement - since there is no way carrying pins or anything else big up those steps. Its makes a cool entrance to the game room though ...

I’ll bet the first thing everyone does is count how many pins will fit!

Put some music into my game room.
Pioneer SX-980 reciever 80 watts per channel
    Pioneer CS-G303 speakers
    Ohm Acustics K2 speakers
    Sony 5 disc changer
Pioneer PL-530 turntable is out for repair.

step 3 replace main motor control board I bought one of those too.

step 4 adjust tone arm return, I have the manual, yep another ebarf purchase

step 5 get the JVC QLA5 repaired wont power up.

Looks like a great space. With that ceiling height you can fit a golf sim. Some people have actually integrated them in their home theater areas. That obviously would only be something you'd want to do if you're a golfer.... but the costs aren't as high as you might expect (less than a stern pro for something decent).

That's the only thing I'm missing from my game room I'd really like. I have one in the garage, but integrated into the basement would be amazing.

I really like your layout as it is. I'm not entirely clear on how you get into the home theater. I may consider moving the pool table to the bar area, particularly if you can leave that glorious row of pins at the top and only move the other 6. Maybe those 6 could be moved to the area of the current pool table. Maybe even face 2 to the left, 2 to the right, and 2 sandwiched facing up and down. Probably not the most efficient use of space, but could be a really cool look. I assume outlets may also be a problem there.

Been a while! Stuff has moved in, out, and around...but this lineup should be stable for a while!

    More progress!
More painting done, and the glass and monitor are working! (Fittingly, the glass is a sheet of wide body playfield glass).
Still need to fill in the ceiling and add more flair...

Ah, I'm not a golfer. I've tried a few simulators, but I've never really gotten into them. I do want to add a skeeball somewhere in there though. I'm sure I'll find other things that I want to incorporate into the design that I haven't even though of yet.

Moving the pool table is a possibility as it does fit there perfectly as well. I'm going to have to figure out what I want in my bar area and how much space it'll actually take up. I'm hoping to be able to break ground on this project in the spring, which would put the basement work into next fall, so 2021 is going to be quite a busy year.

I was going to build a whole new house on some land that I own, but it turns out that we just really like the area that we live in now. I've got enough room here to build a huge addition on to the house. I don't have to drive back and forth to the work site and worry about my tools. Since I work remotely normally, I can even do work during lunch. Not to mention that adding on has a much easier approval process compared to building a new house.

Tell us more about that Electro Dart, what is happening there? I've never seen something like that before.

    #15819 3 years ago

Here you go KevInBuffalo I would love to have one of these.

That's cool as hell. Is the timing of the throw based on how long you hold a button?

It is actually just a shower curtain I got from Amazon and hung up to cover the shelving on the side of my basement. I went to look and it's no longer sold there - sorry!

Yo! Love the show and videos man - keep em coming!

Not to be lazy on ya (ha!) but I did a bit of a write-up and history on how I got mine here:

    https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/lets-see-pic-of-games-rooms/page/278#post-5206030

There are other versions out there, my buddy timtim has one that's a baseball game.

    Quoted from KevInBuffalo:

It might vary from game to game. On mine you press once to start the throwing animation and then press again to release the dart.

I have one but it's at my mom's. It would look much better next to the Cyclone than the Roller Coaster does. Might have to swap.

First of all, allow me to post a shot of part of my own mancave. I've been in the movie business for about 25 years now, I run a popular movie fansite called JoBlo.com and we also have a pretty massive YouTube network for movie trailers/clips. I've only gotten into pinball for 2-3 years now but as you can see, I'm evolving quickly!!! (that's also the "Puffy Shirt" from Seinfeld on the far left) lol

Secondly, I'd like to say that I've been following this thread for over a year now and I LOOOOOVE looking at what everyone has done with their own stuff, it's very inspiring and as a life-long collector of all things, we recently developed and are now working on a new YouTube show called JOBLO'S COLLECTORS CORNER. Our first episode focuses on all things BATMAN (mostly '89) and we have a section in the show called "Show us your Sh*t!" where we feature cool stuff from other collectors. If you want to contribute to future episodes, please check out our call to action ( https://www.joblo.com/movie-news/are-you-a-collector-show-us-your-collection-for-our-latest-video-series ) or just PM me via Pinside, I'm here every other day. Thanks in advance and keep the creativeness going, folks!!

Very cool room, but my question is about the Puffy Shirt. It's arguably one of the most famous pieces of television wardrobe. I don't know how many of them there are, but assuming there is only 1 or a few, how did you get it? You must have some serious connections, or be willing to pay a fortune.

    #15831 3 years ago

I'm guessing he's got connections. He has a pretty big social media footprint, check it out, its cool. 2 million+ YouTube subscribers with >2 billion views is nothing to sneeze at.

I subscribed to add one more!

Thanks. I've purchased a few "collector's items" from this place in Las Vegas, in the Caesar Palace FORUM SHOPS called "Antiquities of Nevada". I believe they've been in business for over 25 years and they have all the top collectibles stuff, mostly having to do with music, but also TV and movies. You can check out their website here: https://antiquitieslv.business.site/. I purchased the "Puffy Shirt" a couple of years ago from them at a reasonable price. They told me that there were 4 in existence when they shot the episode but he wasn't sure how many were left. Mine is also autographed by the entire cast.

I kid you not - I ran into Larry David last week in the middle of nowhere when he happened to be walking by me with a lady friend in a parking lot of gated community where my father lives.

Initially I thought it was just a look-a-like. I called out to him as he walked by saying he looked like someone famous. When they stopped walking, his lady friend voluntarily spoke on his behalf, claiming it wasn't him but people always think that.

He just stared at me, never speaking. I stared back and realized it really was him. He had all the gestures, and mannerisms, and was dressed in his signature khakis, sneakers baseball cap and glasses.

He eventually just pulled his mask up over his nose and mouth while staring directly at me never speaking or acknowledging his identity.

The entire encounter was just like a scene from Curb Your Enthusiasm.

He hates these type of public encounters and behaved exactly as one would've expected.

Ha, I’ve seen your website before and def watched some videos off your YouTube page. Very cool that you’re one of us. For that you’re getting another sub.

Oh and awesome game room, love the pins and movie/TV memorabilia. My setup is like the generic “light” beer version of that.

Small world! I've followed JoBlo on tweeter for years now, from back when I used to go to SDCC in the mid 2000's (when there was a fraction of the people attending that do today) and stumbled upon your account when you'd post about the updates on the Con. Great knowing you're also now a pinhead! Movies, pop culture, and pins....my kind of people!

We're building this 80's style interactive golf to our escape rooms and in between we're doing this 80's 90's style themed game room. Not done yet but check out some of the murals and check out that wild carpet we picked out. The carpet is roller skates.

Check this out... for this interactive mini golf we're building we'll have a pinball hole. We took a very very very old super wide body and rebuilt it so it can shot golf balls instead of pinballs. We just finished retheming the cabinet. Once we get it all done it will have a real games beside for theming and I'll share some pics.

About time I post pics of my man-cave, which is a cross between an arcade and an izakaya. 2 pinball cabs, a girlie pachinko machine, and the newest addition: Microcenter 3/4 MAME cab.

Still waiting on my poster which is a pic of Akihabara.

    Quoted from punkin:

Just laid the dance floor in the hopes the landlord got all the leaks.

Another strip of carpet will go between the pinball area and the social area so i can wheel machines in and out easier. the wooden tables and seats will go on the edges of the dance floor until it's needed in full for a party or somesuch. The scorers desk will get a makeover with a nicer bench.
    Then i'm finished.

I'll be able to sit back in the hot tub and perview my domain.

I love this! Scuba tanks, motorcycles, pinball and a hot tub?! What more could anyone want?! Is that old school sportbike a yamaha seca? A honda interceptor or a suzuki GS?

    Quoted from drfrightner:

We're building this 80's style interactive golf to our escape rooms and in between we're doing this 80's 90's style themed game room. Not done yet but check out some of the murals and check out that wild carpet we picked out. The carpet is roller skates. AMAZING! Who's your artist?

Been a while! Stuff has moved in, out, and around...but this lineup should be stable for a while!

Love this! Mousin around! So cool. How are you cooling the place? It appears to be a basement with lowish ceilings so I'm guessing the heat builds up fast from all those sweet games?!

1400 sq ft. 21 pinball games and about 20 arcade games.

If that was my place, I'd ditch the space sucking mini golf and fill that place with high end pinball and arcade games. You would quickly create a vacation DESTINATION for arcade geeks like the galloping ghost and the fun spot has.

Its never been too bad actually, it's usually 10 degrees cooler down there than the rest of the house. The ceilings are annoyingly low for sure though ha!

The 'scuba tank' is a Co2 bottle to drive my keg setup, bar has 4 beers on tap (old pic).

The old sports bike is a Moto Guzzi MKVI LeMans 1000cc. Rode it for many years before i bought the Harley. Was looking at the for sale ads and it was worth 9k a few years ago, saw worse ones than mine for 19k a few weeks ago.
