"What's that on top of the table?"

    "Looks like a penguin..."

    #13852 36 days ago
    Quoted from brenna98:

Not a bad idea. I was considering doing a mural on each end with some UV paint, kinda like what I did with the Fathom cabinet.
I have lots of other plans for decorations and lighting (probably not as crazy as you Paul ) that i'll do in the next few months. I gotta get the priority stuff done first, like bathroom and shop.

Yeah a giant infinity mirror. You think you room is big now. LOL

I just finished cleaning up down here! Half the space is a kids play area and another section is a room for my son’s Legos, but this portion is all mine!

Panoramic pics to try and capture the layout.

Are those mats in front of the pins matching? I thought about having mats made for mine that match the BG's.

Some match games I have or have had, some don’t.

I don’t think they need to match the game they are in front of per say, but they can!

Yeah I totally agree, they don't have to match, actually there are more than a few BG's I like to have on a mat. Seeing yours though makes me want to get some for mine.

Finally got around to hanging some playfields!

Built this room in my garage which is pretty big, was built for a huge Winnebago. Still plenty of room in garage.
Still have the ac to fit but that can wait until next year now, fan heater and dehumidifier will do for now.
The led bay lights are dimmable and go cool white to warm white, no reflection on glass as they are offset. True kegerator is nice, top end Pioneer cdj’s and mixer which sound great.

Okay, it’s not technically a “game room” but it’s where my MBR LE resides. I remodeled this unused room late last year and turned it into a ‘teen lounge’ for my two kids. It originally featured a sit down Multicade until it was replaced with MBR a few weeks ago.

All gray walls/ceiling, 30” carpet squares, small gray couch, TV stand with faux fireplace, PS3, 65” TCL 6 series 4K TV, mini fridge, lots of candy jars, custom made corner piece to house the fridge, small bar height table and stools, lots of blue LED lighting, and weathered planks on one wall. I attached old PS2 and Wii game cases to the rectangular piece of wall above the sitting area - just couldn’t decide what else to do with that space... Super cozy room.

Well he's the (little) I know and how I came to own it:

From what I could figure out via google, these were designed in the early 1970's to hang in bars, and there was obviously this dart version but I've seen some pictures of a football version, and heard that there was a "shooting" one also - but have never seen it. There is a coin mech/box that runs to it on a long wire designed to sit on a bar, and a remote with one button. When you coin up, you take turns passing the remote and it is a game of timing - one press starts the arm moving and the next press throws the dart. You get 2,4,6,8, or 10 (bullseye) points based on the timing of your second press and the animation. It's all PCB controlled with lights behind the "screen" that create the animation and scoring (just #47 bulbs). This is not my video, but here it is in action for an idea:

I had never seen one before, and don't see much if anything on them online, KLOV, here, etc; I'm assuming they didn't make a ton of them but no real idea honestly.

To make a long story short (or longer), me and my buddy bought out a basement of games this summer, around 12 pins and a ball bowler and a shuffle bowler. The couple selling the games had this in their basement and I loved how it looked (I am a huge fan of 60s-70s Christmas décor so I love this era/kind of stuff to hang up). It didn't work and they wanted $250 for it so I passed. The next day they offered it to me for $100, but I couldn't turn up any info on it, so I passed as I couldn't find any schematic/troubleshooting info. My buddy ended up going back to pull the last few games out alone that he was keeping from the buy and they ended up giving it to him for free as we had helped them move a few other things out of their basement with my escalara when we were there as they were an older couple.

I got the thing home and started looking at it and inside the remote the batteries (9V) had leaked, and luckily only corroded the leads. I soldered some new ones in and got some life back in the game and it sort of worked. There is a huge connector between the screens that was pretty corroded from sitting for years. I blasted it with Deoxit a few times and bam, it fired up. I replaced all the bulbs with new ones and it's pretty fun and unique to have (and just looks cool turned on).

If anyone else has info on these things that would be great. I've seen a few on ebay for a few hundred bucks, so I don't think they are too valuable, but I thought it was cool and can't beat the price.

    The end!

Just going to take a little furniture/game Tetris. One suggestion I would have is cut a piece of paper out scale to the room (1:12 is pretty easy) then pieces out for games and the couch. Then you can arrange and re-arrange without breaking your back. Just plan on room to get around and remove glass.

    #13895 31 days ago
    Quoted from ReadyPO:

Looks like a pretty big space. How many games are going to fit?

It's 500 sq ft. With the landing outside the door just under 600.
I only have 3 pins at the moment but in my old room that was less than 1/2 the size. I had 5. And 2 arcades a pachinko. Also I have a bunch of display cases. But sold some of those pins to help fund this addition. See old pics.

Hoping I can have 8-10 pins and 4 arcades eventually. But it's also going to have an area for retro and modern console gaming.

But the pins are going to be a long time from now. And only if I find deals to good to pass up.
    Or cheap project pins

I've been working on another custom pin, and 2 arcade cabs as well. But those are on hold as construction is happening. Glad I have this, and tons of other hobbies. With me not being able to work anymore. Fixing and playing machines keeps me busy and active.
But with the cost of this addition. Money is tight.
So no more NIB pins in my immediate future.

    #13896 31 days ago

Sounds like plenty of space for now with some room to grow, which is very nice!

This is NOT my game room and does NOT have any pinball machines, but think it still qualifies for this thread. The owner calls it a 'Turn of the Century Penny Arcade', but really it's a stunning collection of museum quality pieces. He started out 35+ years ago collecting EMs, but turned to antique arcade machines shortly afterward. Thought a few here might enjoy it.
