Ok so I have posted previously but have some updates. Space next to the Star Wars is for my BKSOR LE. I then put up room divider curtains on the unfinished side, wires up some recessed lighting and made myself a little pinball annex off of the main area.

I need to finish up the electrical to move the ceiling outlet and then get to painting the ceiling black. I’ll need to pull all the curtains and games out to paint without ruining anything but I’ll get to that eventually.

Right now I am just flipping!

OTRChief, now THAT'S a game room. All about variety.

Cowboy slot machine for the win!

    #13164 1 year ago

It’s funny, I was thinking the same thing. I mean this awesome place has it all...pinballs everywhere, cool signs, beer signs, a bowler, girls in bikinis, a great bar, jukebox...

But, Cowboy Slot Machine!? Cowboy. Slot. Machine. Daaaaaaaaaaaammmmmnnn.

    I want one.

Many people here confuse a "pinball room" with a game room. If you have 60 pins in your room, it's a pinball room, not a game room.

Game rooms require variety. Arcade games, bowlers, crane games, signs, and so on.

So we can now draw a distinction between the two. Hope this helps.

Didn't know there were requirements to a game room. Honestly, who cares? Love seeing all the game rooms here! Always something cool whether a small collection or big. I'm not really into slot machines but want that cowboy one!

So i did some research on the Cowboy Slot Machines.

Originally designed in the 1940s by Frank Polk. Made 92 of them. Hand carved wood with Mills High-Tops.
1979 Mannie Sanchez made 15 of them. Again hand carved with Mills High-Tops slots in them.

Very rare. The pic is of the ones Sanchez made. I want the devil one!

Cowboy slots are not as rare as you might think. I've seen many different ones over the years in different places from game rooms to auctions to shows..... Prices probably average less then $2K on certain ones..., it just depends. They are neat though.

I found a few selling/sold in the $1500 - $2500 range with not much research. There's only 107 total made so rare enough.

    But pinball is a game?

Arguably, you can call a pinball machine a game...but you can't call an arcade game a pinball. In fact, you can't call ANY other game room machine a pinball unless it's a pinball machine.

So pinball has its own designation, rightly so, and shouldn't be categorized as a game.

Does any of this make any sense?

    #13177 1 year ago

While I impatiently wait for my battle pod, I bought one of these today.

Seems pretty cool. I am sure the kids will love it! Lol

Pinball is the single greatest GAME ever devised barrrrr none! Every single game played is absolutely unique to the moment, can't say that for arcade games.

This thread is among the few that is consistently positive and doesn’t degenerate into semantic nonsense. After 13k posts it doesn’t seem like anyone is in need of rules about what should and shouldn’t be posted here.

Well it was a long time coming. And didn't get started on time. Was supposed to be done around Oct 2018. Because I got diagnosed with MS. But it's coming along now. And I'm feeling fantastic.

The picture you posted was used by Bill Harris / Royal Bell LTD as part of their sales effort. Possibly Sanchez carved the originals however Royal Bell sold many more than 15. I purchased my miner from them in 1981. The carving shipped was $1524 and I added my own Mills Jewel Hightop.

Can not name them all but what I see is:

    - Earthshaker (love that pin, got rid of it a while ago but I am missing this one)
    - Funhouse (got one)
    - Space station (got one, but sold it)
    - Wizard of Oz
    - Bride of pinbot (got one)
    - Attack from mars.

    6 out of 14. That's bad

I like all what I see here, just some guys building their dream rooms, with only pins, or arcades or anything, I do not care. Just build those dreams and share it. If you like and love it, that is all that matters. I am always getting great ideas in this thread.

You're right. That's what this hobby is all about, to feel good and enjoy the journey. Occasionally share it with friends.
For me personally I like a good mix between pins, arcades and goodies to dress up the gameroom. Finish that off with some proper lighting and a place to sit and drink and you've got yourself a winning combo.

Yeah must be. Repops I'm going to assume were the ones I was seeing in those price ranges. I guess anything that has value you have to assume someone is trying to fake it.

One of the manufacturers that has not been mentioned is Richard DeLong. He passed away last year but produced carvings for 30+ years.
