    Quoted from brad808:

    It's essentially a normal touchscreen PC monitor with wires running through the wall under the stairs to a PC and amplifier for the inwall speakers above the pins and a subwoofer below. The PC is running a program called "albumplayer" with a theme that I modified to remove any type of admin and settings features, etc. This way it's fool proof and people can't accidentally screw things up. They can create playlists, search songs, change volume, things like that but all else is hidden and requires me to input key combination from a keyboard to show everything else. It's locked down on "party mode". All music is stored locally on an SSD. I think I have around 60,000 songs on it, bunch of albums, all different genres and I update it with the latest billboard charts because the girls like to dance to club beats. If it's playing and nobody has selected any new songs for a playlist it will auto dj from whatever folders, artists, genres, etc I allow. Easily one of the most used items in my game room and fairly cheap to get setup, just requires a bit of time setting it all up and keeping it updated every few months. Not everyone that comes over is a gamer but everyone loves music and there is something on there for everyone.

    I have that software also with a 42" touchscreen monitor that is fantastic and Bluetooth connectivity to our CD jukebox. Still learning things about it and I will have to search for the lockout features you mentioned. I started loading up some of our own concert photos and configured them for the related bands. It's great to see a mix of the internet photos and our own scroll across the screen for the bands. I saw that you can do things with videos also ... more to discover later down the road. I would recommend it also.

    The program comes with a lock out function that locks things down with a password. People try to click on Something and a password box pops up. I wasn't happy with that so I manually edited the theme to simply remove everything I didn't want. No menus, no ability to exit the program, minimize, change names, view info etc. Just nice and basic. Then when I want to do admin work on it I manually copy in a full fledged theme with everything I need. It's a bit unnecessary, but I'm very happy with it so it was worth putting in the time for me.

    This sounds pretty awesome! I went with Sonos connects played through the various stereo systems I have in my house. They work great and guests can add songs to their heart's content but it does not have that cool LCD touchscreen aspect.... actually I guess it could but I would have to mount a tablet to a wall.... you just gave me an idea....

    Yeah I moved into this place almost 4 years ago and have never used the fireplace. I would have much preferred a blank wall with drywall because the mantle actually gets in the way. I'd have to give up too many games in order to leave the fireplace open and well...you can see I have my priorities right

    I think you owe us some updated pics of your game room.
    We have been waiting to see what happened next.

    Well, as some might expect, I ran into a few snags. LONG story.... I'll save it for when you join me for the grand opening....or if I see you at GS pinfest....
    Anyway, construction JUST restarted after being stalled for nearly 9mos. Yes, my house was sitting like that for nearly 9mos. \o/
    I've expanded the space a bit, and if the rain relents, things might be done in 3-4 more months. I'll post an updated pic soon.

    How Cool!!! Love the variety!
    can you please tell us more about your music system, the touch screen and the apps you are using?

    Would really love the touch screen music system, but I am nowhere technical and don’t know where to start. Do they sell a system for dummies?

    Right now I am running everything off my iPhone using a rocket fish blue tooth connector. Would love the touch screen on the wall for looks and if it played music videos while the music was playing that would be awesome as well.

    While we are at it, I am manually turning off all power strips for my games, what is the best remote system to do so? I bought one a few year back and it failed over time. I would assume there are better options available now?

    These have been on sale twice in the last week (B&H and Amazon) for $54 if you want that option.

    Can you have multiple units in a house? How does that work with the WiFi connection? I have lots of rooms with different games.

    Thanks

    Yes, they are basically like any wifi connected switch or outlet. You can have one, or a hundred, doesn't matter. I grabbed two of their wifi switches for my front door and post lights, set them to turn on at sunset and off at sunrise. Was sick of asking the wife to turn the lights off when she left for work. You can also control them with an app.

    I have an iPad mounted on the wall in my game room. I fire up Plex and it allows me to stream music and video from my media server. External blue tooth speaker for the audio.

    Of course you could use whatever media service you want: YouTube, Spotify whatever...

    I can make them up easy enough but shipping from Canada....$$$

    I am using Etekcity ZAP 5LX remote outlet switches. Came with 5 outlets and 2 remotes. I Velcroed the switch to the wall. No more crawling under the pins. Has been working for quite a while.

    Hope I’m not boring anyone with all the progress photos, but here’s a couple more...

    Now just decorate the walls ~n~ stuff

    Also I finally got to set up and play a few games on my TNA that’s been sitting wrapped up since I bought it a over a month ago. (Probably the reason for the recent motivation )

    I just cleaned out the unfinished side of my basement and made room for 7 games. I then rearranged which both made my wife happy and made room for the Black Knight SOR LE I have coming! Pretty sure I can fit 20 games down here now without losing any space for the kids to play!

    Thought I would update pics of our pinball room in our game room basement. Last weekend we had a "Stressing the Dam in Hell Spring Party" with family and friends. Depending on general power usage in our area, we get switched back and forth between the main power grid and the power from the Dam in Hell, MI. Last fall we got switched to the main grid the day after the party and got an email from our power company 4 days later saying that our "smart meter" indicated that we had used an abnormal amount of power the week before. The day before this party we got switched … is Facebook reporting my parties now too? Anyhow … here are some photos.

    First I had to wake up the party workers, get them out from under their favorite special blankets, clean them up a bit, then put them to work. I put tags with the year the pin was manufactured and the Pinside ranking. Some people thought this was "old school" until they read the tags and played them for a while. The final stats for the games played by non-pinheads (in case anyone is curious) was as follows:

    Wheel of Fortune = 61
    AC/DC = 54
    JJP Pirates = 53
    Iron Man = 50
    Dialed In! = 46
    Aerosmith = 38
    NASCAR = 37
    WOZ = 25
    Hobbit = 24
    F-14 = 21

    Total games = 409, roughly 70 games per hour spread over the 10 pins.

    Considering that the JJP pins are easier to get multi-balls for mediocre (at best) players and take twice as long to play as the Sterns that I have, they were fairly even on time. Pirates was played all night pretty much.

    Someone several posts up was curious about the Digital Jukebox software. Mine is setup with a 42" HP touchscreen (that I bought off of Craigslist) and a very inexpensive mini Windows 10 PC (from Amazon) that pulls music from a network storage device (NAS) with Raid 4 on it. The mini - PC then plays the music via Bluetooth to my "real" Jukebox. I still have to setup all of my CDs in the jukebox with labels and as an over-ride to the Bluetooth if someone pics some CD music selections instead. i.e. The Bluetooth is setup as "background music".

    Yes, Paul … there are some leg light ups - but 2 pins didn't get them installed in time for the party … next time.

    Sorry for the newb post, but where do you guys get the licensed dust covers for your pins?

    Mostly Amazon and EBay - 60" max for length. I get the fleece blankets/throws in most cases. NASCAR was tough, but found a woven one that looks ok. WOF is really tough ... might have to have one made special. Some people get themed towels. I like the fleece as "maybe" less UV light gets into the playfield and side panels. I buy them more to keep the dust off of the glass though as there is only a small glass block window in that room.

    Thanks for the information. It is much appreciated.

    The ones on my pins are just beach towels I found that matched the theme of the games. Mostly off amazon...

    You can have any picture, drawing etc., put on a fleece blanket at Walmart and they make great covers.

    I don’t have any of those fancy expensive new games but almost finished here in Ohio. (Why does the room look so small once I put the games in there? Lol)

    Some small details to finish up and then I can start back on fixing a couple of EM’s still needing some TLC
