If you are a Bruce Lee fan at all, Fistful of Yen is one of those brilliant things ever put on film. It never gets old watching that.

Years later they did Amazon Women on the Moon which was like a modern take on the Kentucky Fried Movie concept.

My wife and I are disagreeing about something so asking for help on a decision.

We are putting cabinets into this area here, to make this a kitchenette for our basement. The hole we just framed out and installed a jamb will have a pass through bar. My wife says the cabinets must go the full width of the room, which admittedly is an odd size and will require some custom work to make it fit. Neither of us has ever done cabinets before though. TMy suggestion is to just use standard cabinets so that if there is a 4" gap on each end, it's not a big deal and will look fine.

Is there a big reason not to do one or the other? If anyone has done any cabinets where there is a gap on both ends, can you post some pics?

Wife is right - a few inches on one or either side will not look as clean and just collect dust. Wherever you get cabinets (Ikea), you should be able to find matching panel to fill in sides. This is how professionals install cabs. Centering cabs with equal fill on each side should look best.

If you have room, leave a section for a mini fridge to fit under counter (buy first to get correct height). This way you might not wven need filler depending on width of mini fridge. Looks good, good luck!

Thanks! Wife won out so she is going to get it going. She is the one who does the woodwork anyways hah.

Fill the full width. Easy to do and you won't need custom. Home Depot sells cabinets with matching gap fillers of multiple widths. Then just make your countertop full width
    Good luck

    #12806 5 years ago

Normally, you place the cabinets within 3 inches of the full width and insert a filler board to match the cabinet faces. The reason is, when you open the cabinets, the knob on the door won't restrict your ability to open the left and right cabinets fully. and, if there is any expansion between the walls, the fillers provide something of a cushion. Otherwise, cabinet doors will potentially bind.

My wife is always right... except when she’s not... but she’s right then too!!

As for cabinets, Menards has great semi-custom cabinets that would fill the space with only an inch or two left which could be covered with a filler board or molding as others have said.

Finally finished the basement and moved the pins in. There are likely not their final places and I need to make room on the wall you cant see for the vids.

This is what I want. The bar is key. Well done.

    #12814 5 years ago

I need to know more about that bar behind the theater seats. I've been planning to do something like that for a while. Was that built or bought?

    Quoted from Deaconblooze:

Agreed. Awesome idea and great use of the space behind the seats. Love the red walls with black trim. Might be copying a FEW elements of your GM although I'm not a fan at all of the projection TVs where you have to turn the light sout to make it look good for the viewers. (You can get an *amazing* 86" HDR 4K LED TV right now for about 2K after rebates.)

    #12816 5 years ago

Those projectors are good. My bro in law has one and takes up 90% of the wall. And looks great too!

    #12817 5 years ago

The game room (minus the furniture and pool table) came with the house. The guy we bought this from spared no expense when building it out. The red walls are all sound-proof with the padded fabric. You can kill the lights toward the screen side of the room while lighting the rest if you want live TV. It is time to upgrade the projector, but the new 4Ks are still really steep. I can move things around and still fit at least 2 more pins (or more if I got creative). I'd also like to add a shuffle board table along the wall next to the pool table. I'll circle back later with some more pics of the bar area. Had I build it, it would have included a beer kegerator, which I had at my last house.

The best thing about this room is it's a basement, which is very rare for Vegas. I can throw my two boys downstairs and not hear a thing in the rest of the house -- even with movies blasting.

I moved into my house one year ago (check my post history on this thread) with 5 games, now I've got 11.
Safe to say, the basement is pretty much at capacity.
I have a few project games in the garage and some plans to make some little arcade cabinets, so we will see how it will evolve!

The attached pinball workshop is currently organized chaos - I know where everything is, but it looks like shit.

    Just wanted to share..
I ran out of space in gameroom #1 so now I have gameroom #2. Who needs a formal dining room when you can have a formal JJP room instead right??
Plus as it turned out the hanging light has a little "pirate" look to it anyway.
And yes, I normally keep the sunlight off of the games.

Wheres the pic of game room #1, I love how each game has it's own sub. Nice!!

    #12830 5 years ago

    @imagamejunky... looks great!

IMO: a heavy "Theater type curtain" (2 brackets and rod) would look amazing behind them. It would camouflage the mirror and speaker / power cords, then allow you to focus on the beauty of the games.

BTW: You've get them spaced too far apart... you'll need to fix that

No one eats in a formal dining room anyway.
PS. Be sure to put UV protecting film on that big window.

Ok guys. Is it my eyes or my wild imagination? I can’t be the first to look at Pinball Magic and see a woman with fairly large breasts and an exposed nipple on her left (our right). Down below you see the upward curve of a bikini line. I know that when you see the backglass in close up detail the image isn’t there but backed off and slightly out of focus...
