Here is my game room setup (awaiting pinball delivery)
I'll be adding pics once I take delivery of a couple of pinball machines, still on order.

Here is my setup, game sometimes in my home office and family room, but mostly in the basement, in the dedicated area where I have 5.1 or in the theater room occasionally, where its 7.6.4 setup.

Nice room. Where are the pinball machines?

My thoughts exactly but if you look closely I'd say there's room for 4-5 pins along that wall where the "foolsball" table is.
That is a nice collection of swords you got there.

Why is it that my favorite part of your setup is the velvet rope blocking off patrons until showtime?

    Nice touch.

LOL i need to hire someone with white gloves grabbing tickets. "Please wait to be seated."
As the wall is open, I just have it there so kids don't run around in there willy nilly. I once caught a kid on one of the seats trying to grab at the projector. Thankfully though, the red rope makes it look very VIP and kids somehow know its off limits. I get my kids to coach the other kids better as well before they destroy things.

I like the swords and the pistols, both look authentic too, are they? You're gonna need more room as the disease progresses so best be thinking it over now, you know what you'll tell the wife and all, good luck.

What is a 7.6.4 setup mean? Specifically the 6? You have 6 channels of bass?

    #12366 10 months ago

Looks like an Atmos setup. So think 3 front channels, 4 surrounds, 4 subs(?), and 6 ceiling speakers.

It's 7.1.4 normally so am curious what the 6 means in this case

7 Surrounds, 6 sub channels (2 SVS PB-2000s subs, 4 Aura Bass shakers in the seats ), 4 ATMOS. I edited my post as thats too much information. Lots of power in that room.

It's not as palatial or high-rolly as a lot of the crash pads here, but I like to think my pad is comfy for DIY (most of the pins shown were acquired as various projects and some complete trash wrecks; last fall the room flooded and the carpet had to be removed and my 13yo daughter voluntarily skipped a sleepover to help me lay new flooring).

Looks like a great pinhead room to me. Wish I was closer would definitely swing by and check it out. Also love the added bit that your daughter was involved in cleani g uo after the flood. Any chance I can get the kids involved with fixing or uograding my machines I take it. I try my best to pass on the love of the game and the care and upkeep methods to my little guy. Very satisfying feeling as a parent to see the little ones want to learn and take part in shopping out a machine.

That's awesome! I barely knew what I was doing myself (had only just gotten my first pin!) when my own were that little, but I've tried to get them involved since and as you say: there's nothing more rewarding than when they take it up. Four of my games are running power supplies and fuse boards that my girls have soldered and rebuilt. The elder girl has helped disassemble and shop others out, even tagging along when I make house calls for locals. The best was when they dove into our Bad Cats and repainted and decaled the playfield...

Thankfully they've both continued to express interest in projects, like my El Dorado and Time Fantasy, both suggesting ideas and wanting to get involved in the recovery. It's tough sometimes though: I let them be their own selves and they are very busy in that regard, so sometimes I just have to make progress on my own... but I save what I can for them.

I think project pins are really an overlooked aspect of learning for kids. There is so much involved with them: mechanics, electronics, logic, carpentry, arts and crafts... all of those are valuable skills for kids to learn, and the reward for doing so is a valuable game that is unique and fun to play. Granted some of those are difficult for adults to learn too but there too I hope they've learned: in taking both a Sys6 and Sys11 MPU from acid-eaten trash to functioning boards, they've seen me doggedly pursue and decode MPU troubleshooting from not understandning it at all, to finally getting them working, to then being able to use that knowledge for better diagnosis and repair in the future. The lesson there is reward for hard work and persistence in the face of failure, which is probably the hardest lesson of all to teach, let alone understand.

Woops, sorry for the hijack.... I don't open my mouth that often, but tend to ramble when I do.

I don't want to take away from this thread so just going to leave this parting statement. @goingincirclez I don't think you could have expressed yourself any better or embodied the thoughts of others such as myself. Great story and absolutely love the pics. You are 100% correct about the skills that you pick up very quickly when dealing with a pinball machine. Having anything in this day and age that interests your kids to where they actually want to be around you is very difficult. Sure looks like they enjoy what they are doing and soending time with their pop.

Very sweet setup! Pretty sure that is still 7.1.4 as the LFE is always on 1 channel or should be. I'm not trying to knock you or say you're wrong etc. Legit curious if you somehow setup the bass on different channels. That has to sound strange right?

2900 sq. ft. but there is also a bathroom, family room with a fireplace, and a bedroom. Then the shop area is pretty big, so the actual game room footage is around 2500 ft.

    And it's never big enough.

LFE is always one channel signal out. My prepro/ receiver has dedicated 2 channel descrete sub outs (although the native signal is always mono). This is to compensate for different placement of subs in a room when you run room correction/ calibration to eliminate nulls etc to have a smooth response in the room, hence the dual subs (one you see in the pic in the front of the room, and another is behind the seating area. There are a lot of filters going on, not just level correction etc. I have 4 other outputs from the sub split to another amp which feeds the arse kickers With the additional sub outs and the limitations to 2 channel sub outs at the preamp/ receiver, if I was to time, and tune right, I would need a Minidsp to run calibration thru.

LOL its pretty intense for sure almost 4,000 watts of power in that little room, had to put it on a dedicated circuit to meet the juice requirements. Off the deep end for sure, overkill, but damn is it fun.

but Friends ask how often are you going to watch a movie. Set those
other machines up. And I have to agree. There's many more I have
that I really would like to have set up.
I have another 1,200 sq., but presently this is what it looks like. No room
to even drywall. Not what I attended, but all other storage is full. I need
    to export some machines..
