Had about 60 people over this past weekend, figured i'd take some "before" pics while the game room was clean... everyone always likes the mad scientist bar...

Live music. Modern pins, mostly premiums and a few classics. Currently tourneys every other Tuesday.
Recbar is the new kid on the block. Great food. Full bar.
65 Pins in the pinball only room and video games and skee-ball in the others. Tourneys every Sunday.
Truly a pinball destination.
Yep, both are awesome! Anyone is welcome to come kick my butt at Recbar every week or Zbar every other week. It is not hard to do.

This is literally the basement I’m going for here in DC! That mad scientist corner is awesome!

you could put some vintage 70s audio equipment in the rack by the bar.
Quoted from ramegoom:Whole house generator is really good to have if you have seen power outages on occasion. Otherwise, a battery-backup secondary sump pump could work in a power outage event. However, usually when the power goes out, the rain is very excessive, so you're limited to the capacity of a battery powered pump (usually not a lot of flow compared to a 3/4 HP sump). And, you need to change the battery every two years to keep it holding a normal charge.
I'd vote whole-house generator in a flooded basement scenario. And at least one additional pump.
I even had a secondary 3/4 HP pump in my sump well above the existing 3/4 HP pump as an overflow safeguard. That was in Illinois.
Slight thread derail...I did this too. Whole house 16KW Generac in case we are gone. Had a plug in generator, but if no one is home...doesn't do much good. Two completely separate sumps just to be redundant, plus one is a combo with an additional battery backup. Two sump pump drains, going to different places outside. Even separate breakers for both, along with some serious aftermarket water level switches. Plus everything is tied into a smarthome setup and let's me know the status of when they run. And I don't have a very active sump pit! Finished the basement a number a years ago, so it was time to protect it. Even if all that fails, I bought federal flood ins., at the preferred rate since we are not in a flood zone.
Quoted from bob_e:A house with a basement 30 feet down ... nice and cool rear round
Say what??? 30 feet down? That needs some explaining, unless its the real Batman Bat Cave - then never mind, don't want to spoil your cover.
Quoted from bob_e:A house with a basement 30 feet down ... nice and cool rear round
Yes! rear round.
Quoted from hlaj78:You’ve come a long way Don.
Thanks Howie! We miss you in the DPL!

Warning! after 2 claims they move you out of the Preferred rate, It happened to me. I made a claim for cleanup of a couple of inches of water in the basement due to rising ground water, they paid around $2k. Then Hurricane Irene flooded whole basement and a foot and a half on the ground level. They paid $25k to repair and replace that damage. At first I was paying around $400 a year for coverage. After the second claim they said the preferred price is over for the home, even for any new owners. Now the coverage costs close to $3k a year. If I knew that in advance I would have never made the first claim.

That picture taken over the surface of the air hockey table with the pins in the background may be the best piece of photography in the thread, excellent.

Thanks RSYR,
Didn't know that. I really just got it since it was a new addition out in the country and some dirt was moved around...just in case something went haywire w/the grading. Could get rid of it, but it's cheap peace of mind, so I'm lazy about it. I got one of the lower coverages to minimize any losses.
Back to the regularly scheduled thread.

That is one of the most impressive rooms I have seen. Great work!

My 70's audio gear still works. Have it in the wall in rack mounts.

Quoted from mollyspub:Nice looking BSD and interesting MK3!
Thanks! Proud owner of both. BSD is in mint condition.
Those arcade cabinets are pc based mame cabinets I designed and built from scratch.
It was supposed to start this spring. But was moved to this Oct. But the new games room is finally going to be built.
It's going over the existing garage.
Almost got cancelled because of me getting sick and not being able to work anymore.
But my wife actually pulled it all together.
And got things sorted financially, so it could still get done.

A great partner and happiness are two of the best antidotes for illness. Sounds like you have both. Best of luck to you.
I hope that you have beefed up the floor support system to account for the added weight of all your games.
Quoted from DaWezl:Made a few changes so here’s an updated photo. The fourth (working) pin really makes it feel like a real game room!

Nice to see the Hi Deal continues to be in its place of honor.
Just finished building the rgb sofet lighting in my garage/workshop/Gemeroom II. Only needed it on 3 walls, it was a fun project. It's gonna light up the Mustang really cool when it comes back. As usual, pictures don't do the colors justice. I can also see where I missed painting on the ceiling.

But why is that guy flipping you the bird?
And what’s up with that Flash Gordon end table?!

Flash Gordon still needs some work. Along with several others.
Just started on mine. Converting the “tractor” garage into a pinball room here soon.

Tractor garage?
Quoted from MustangPaul:Tractor garage?
Ditto, i was thinking the same. Got some before pictures?
Quoted from MustangPaul:Tractor garage?
It’s the garage around the back of the house. Mainly used to store your tractor/mower. 4th picture is the tractor garage. It will eventually be all pins and some arcade machines. Next few pictures of before of the basement. Numbers on pics were measurements.

I see. I thought it was like a pole barn or something. Looks like a good size space.

Decent size. Should fit around 12 pinball machines and 6/8ish arcade machines.
Here's a few shots of my game room, we do poker and pinball every other Friday. Started as an unfinished storage area, couple years worth of messing with it when I got time and it turned out pretty good.
