    Quoted from TaylorVA:

I do like seeing gamerooms that give the pins space to breathe.

You are correct Taylor, I have about 1 inch apart each side and had to compromise the side art visual as well as a little nudging when I play them. Once my pool table goes, I will have more room to spread them out.

Thought I'd include some action shots from a couple of partys ago. This was from the 8th annual Twelve Hours of Pinball Party in 2010. Its amazing how different it looks now, just two years later.

The rink is a little small but great coaching from ex NHLer Lebeau (a bit arrogant but good coach).
They were supposed to build a new one but...$$$

    Again,great line up!

Thanks! Han came from ebay. A company called Illusive Concepts made them in the 90s and they're only available second hand now.

His name is "Jimmy". He doesn't say much and works cheap! The waitress on rollerskates is "Toots".

Hot Rod what is that pink Gottlieb? GREAT room there!

    #1126 6 years ago
    Quoted from Turboderf:

    how big is that room

1350 sq. ft. It's basically a 4-car detached garage that was built specifically to house The Hot Rod Grille. It has it's own 200 amp electric service and 3-ton heat pump for climate control. The restroom features a urinal, pinstriped toilet seat and vintage condom machine as it could have been in the 1950's.

Thanks for the nice comment! The pink GTB is CAR HOP. All of the games in the Hot Rod Grille fit a general theme of cars (Corvette, Viper Night Drivin', Mario Andretti, I500, Getaway), bikes (Bally H-D) and 50's-60's pop culture (CFTBL, TZ, Diner, CAR HOP, Elvis), plus a Bally Challenger big-ball bowler, Slugfest pitch & bat, Junkyard crane game and linked Cruisn' USA drivers. The pachislo slots fit the same general theme (Betty Boop, Elvis, Twist, Hot Rod Queen and 50's Cafe), plus a Betty Boop pachinko.

Looks great! I love the dummies too. The only thing missing is the Fonz hitting a juke box.

plus a Bally Challenger big-ball bowler,

I would love to see a pic of that bowler. It's the one thing, I regrettably don't have room for.

Here's a shot of the Challenger bowler that you asked for. It's always a "hit" at parties.

Very nice, I want one! My brother has one of these, almost the exact same model and length (different BG) and I play it every time I'm over there. BTW, where did you steal a Big Boy from?

    #1137 6 years ago

Little off topic, but what's the deal with slot machines? I was looking to acquire one and there seem to be all sorts of rules on what you can and can't buy. At least it seemed that way in Illinois.

Buy whatever you want and don't tell anyone The rules are pretty simple though, check it out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_state_slot_machine_ownership_regulations

It's a generic lowboy cabinet. Their common in Australia. If you google lowboy plans there's some well made plans around. Mine was housing a tekken that was busted up but is now just a mame. I agree the size on these is awesome for a 60 in 1 or mame. so much more compact and easier to move around.

Everybody's game room looks so great... here's what I can basically show right now...

My game room is slowly taking shape... it's an abandoned church building that was destroyed in hurricane Katrina and had been vacant for 7 years. I've been working on the project for 8 months now, acting as general contractor. Just last week I passed final inspections after having all new plumbing, electrical and other services ripped out and rebuilt. A group of us in the area have been rebuilding the place from the ground up, drywall, tile, electrical, plumbing, low voltage wiring, everything...

    lair01.jpg

Here is the church's baptismal that we've left in place:

    lair02.jpg

There's still a ton of work to be done - I had no idea how difficult it would be to restore an existing structure like this but finally I'm seeing light at the end of the tunnel and after 8 months, the electricity gets hooked up next week. Yay! I hope to begin moving machines into the space soon.

Great story and nice to see all of your hard work is starting to pay off. I helped out with Katrina clean up through my local church here in PA and we had a great week helping out down there. Wonderful to read another positive story that has come out of this. Can't wait to see how it all comes together for you.
