I actually got 5 video games for 75.00, but was able to get the 2 going from parts of the other 3
Quoted from ramegoom:The other thing about not finishing ceilings is that you can add wiring and electrical easily. I originally put in 75 electrical outlets on every wall, and after the project was done, I added maybe 12 outlets on the ceiling for various other electrical things, lighting, and so on. Also, I added hundreds of feet of phone wire as an afterthought, all throughout the ceiling. Touch-up wiring with flat black rattle can spray and you'd think that wiring was put in before the room was finished.
Yup....AND....it makes it easy to get the bugs and cob webs. Makes the room a lot more bug free.
Quoted from ramegoom:I have a "smart meter" that the utility company accesses thru RF. I also have a digital watt meter that I installed in the game room. I'm gonna take a snapshot of the meter with everything turned on, to see what it draws. Now you got me wondering. I installed that box but never put it thru the test. Typically, it sits at about 1.30 amps continuously, with about 14 small neon signs going 24/7, and maybe five LED-lit objects. That's the background lighting when the room isn't used. Here's the meter that I use. The pic shows 1.09 amps draw, less than 100 watts. This varies but not a lot, when the room is idle:
But the real test is when everything is being played, that's when the BIG drain comes, that's when I was seeing 2 seconds per revolution.
I'm gonna put it thru the test this weekend. Saturday party, should give me some indication. I really don't see a big jump in my electric bill, even when we're full-boat in the room. The rest of my house is 100% LED so I am seeing real insignificant electric bills anyway. Plus, electricity here in CO is cheap.
Will be looking for KwH readings.
I am not convinced that my pinball habit has jacked up our utilities much. I have 10 (all led) pins going sometimes when we have parties, not to mention an arcade cab, large TV and super chexx table and my electric bill has not moved much. (about 10 bucks a month over last year) I have tried to offset it though by going all LED throughout the house and saving elsewhere.
Great rooms everyone! Keep em coming!

The background draw for the neon signs at about 70 watts would run about $16.00/month at Southern California rates. We are at the top end of USA electricity rates not counting Hawaii and Alaska.
Quoted from JimWilks:My gamerooom is fairly basic.
I'd like to point out that having 60 games is anything but basic, but you help me with goal setting.
Quoted from PeterG:What’s with all the boxes on top of your machines? Shoes from the wife?
Toppers!
Quoted from RWH:Toppers!
Let's see who guess... I'd say spare and replacement parts, labeled to each machine.
Quoted from JimWilks:My gamerooom is fairly basic. Here's a couple of pictures of part of it from a little while back.
On the subject of electrical consumption, I draw 7kW with all games on.
I can't even imagine the Tetris you have to play to move/service a machine...

Good one! I can compete with you on "fairly basic"

I like the idea, took the room finishing budget and bought more pins

That's a 13' United big ball bowler?
Quoted from Mopar:That's a 13' United big ball bowler?
You are close. It was a 13' Chicago Coin big ball bowler, but I managed to add in a 6' extension so now it's a 19' big ball bowler.
Quoted from PeterG:What’s with all the boxes on top of your machines? Shoes from the wife?
The boxes are empty. I do a bit of selling (non-pinball) on eBay and need a ready inventory of various boxes. Since most of my basement has somehow been taken over by pins, the space over and under every game is used for something.
Quoted from JimWilks:It was a 13' Chicago Coin big ball bowler
That's right. Early 60s Chicago Coin also had that style.
Playing on a 13', then a 19', is like night and day..
Quoted from Mopar:That's right. Early 60s Chicago Coin also had that style.

The 13' was way too easy. The 19' is a bit more of a challenge.
Also, although this bowler was an EM, I have gutted it and put my own electronics in it. Everything on the outside is unchanged.
Quoted from hlaj78:Is that a SMS clock in the back?
No, just large LED displays that show a variety of information.
I really am in awe of the many game rooms that are on here; gosh, some of these look like full-time jobs!
Anyway, here is my somewhat modest entry:

Excellent. Another Tom Seaver fan. It's makes me a little sad how little he's remembered today, given how truly great he was with some horrible but lovable Mets and Reds teams. On of my favorite memories is going to Tom Seaver day at Shea in 1987
Quoted from MustangPaul:But the real test is when everything is being played, that's when the BIG drain comes, that's when I was seeing 2 seconds per revolution.
But keep in mind, you're paying for each kilowatt-hour. That's the use of one kilowatt of power for one hour. Have a party some night and how long does that last? Six hours, maybe. That party won't cost you much in electricity. What you want to be concerned with are items that run for a few hours, every single day of every single month.
Quoted from mrossman5:Wow. That room is amazing. Looks like an awesome hangout room. Throw many parties?
I used to run a once-per-month poker tournament, which rotated among the various member/players. The tourney would stop at my place four or five times a year, and I would also host the championship tournament. It was a great deal of fun to play cards, drink draft beer, and, of course, play pinball.
Quoted from albummydavis:Excellent. Another Tom Seaver fan. It's makes me a little sad how little he's remembered today, given how truly great he was with some horrible but lovable Mets and Reds teams. On of my favorite memories is going to Tom Seaver day at Shea in 1987
I wholeheartedly agree; truly one of the greats. Even though I am a Cubs fan, I always recognized how special Seaver was and respected his abilities.
I actually own 57 Mitchell & Ness jerseys, which I try to rotate out once a month. The only one that stays displayed at all times is the New York Giants one, as it has been autographed by Bobby Thomson.
Thanks for all of the nice comments!
Quoted from MustangPaul:Just on not being played?
Correct. A bit more when being played. The real cost is running the 3 air conditioning systems to take all of the game heat plus the body heat of 30 or so players when playing in warmer weather.
It has been a long time since I posted last, and I have been very busy expanding. I will start with my inside game room. The pool table is a 1908 Brunswick. I ran out of room up here years ago because of the knee wall height, so I built my arcade outside.

So this summer I decided to expand again, and built this abandoned 1950’s Texaco gas station. I plan on getting a 36’ stringsetter bowling lane, and moving all the arcades down to the gas station. The jailhouse will be all pinball. I am building a waiting room/ parts counter with all mid century furniture. I want to get an old 50’s pitch n bat, and rifle shooter for the waiting room too. I’m taking the rest of the winter off, and going to travel out west for a few weeks.

Where is Thunder Mountain roller Coaster going?

Holy shit..... ....I'm happy with just 4 pins and a pool table, and then this guy shows up and has a gas station o__o....!!!
I like your vintage thinking. Even rustic building materials.
Was part of the gas station built from a disassemble structure?
Disassembled structure?...no,..The framing is all new, but I got all the siding from a barn in Illinois. Signs are from all
over country.
Hotel upstairs?...The upstairs of the jail already has a huge room.
What’s next?......First I have to finish bowling alley. After that the plan is a miniature golf course, and then drive in.
Quoted from hooch333:Disassembled structure?...no,..The framing is all new, but I got all the siding from a barn in Illinois.
Yea, I might have not quite worded that right. I mostly meant the siding and roofing..
I like your energetic determination!
