Quoted from cdnpinballer:When I needed more space in our basement for pins I made a serious effort to show that I was interested in another expensive hobby, in my case I chose snowmobiling. I even setup appointments to go with my wife to look at sleds. Right before our first viewing at a dealer she turned to me and said she didn't want me to go snowmobiling because I would spend too much time on the trails away from the family. We then made a deal for me to possibly get a sled when the kids are older and I could move out a couch immediately to move 4 pins into 'her' space. There are 11 pins over there now. And I have 3 years until the sled is delivered.
This is genius and I'm totally doing it, so thanks. I've always wanted a yacht and now my wife is about to find out.

Let's just hope it doesn't backfire. I mean, really... how are you ever going to level a pin on a yacht?!?
Just in the process of finishing the floor as of last night..... Needs some more wall art, most of my wall hanger back glasses are out in my main front room. Still gotta get the 55" TV & TV stand in there in the one corner a few other odds & ends, but it's getting there.

Looks beautiful! You should consider painting the ceiling matte black. It would make everything pop all that much more!
Quoted from Stones:I just found this pic of my old game room. I miss this one. I moved last year.....I need to start doing something with the new game room...hopefully, I will get some time this year to update the new one
Is the new one that big?
Quoted from MustangPaul:Is the new one that big?
About the same size......can prolly only fit 8 pins.....then I will have to convert the spare bedroom.....lol.

Is the bedroom attached?
Quoted from MustangPaul:Is the bedroom attached?
Yes, just down the hallway in the basement. Not a huge spare bedroom, but thought about putting a couple more pins in there ....and an arcade or 2.

That would work.

That was a really nice example of that T2. I sold it cause I couldnt move that mug by myself....heavy sombitch...

He protects the cable modem in the new house. In my old game room, if you look closely, I had hung some of my Batman comics up....that I collected as a kid.
Nice place to have a meal!

This is my favorite gameroom in this thread. Not at all overkill, classy, love the color, great space with high ceilings and lots of light. Definitely inspiring.
Quoted from MustangPaul:No need to take baby steps if your single....jump in with both feet is what I say.
Sometimes when I see your gameroom, I can’t tell if it’s upside down or not

Now THAT'S funny. Next time you look at it try not having so many beers before hand. Your just gonna have to come over sometime when your in town.
My "temporary game room" during a long basement remodel project has been "approved" (with some thought steering) to be our "Arcade Room" for a long project ahead. I do have a game room build thread, but it doesn't get updated until I finally get some time do accomplish something - just updated. Anyway ... The current pinball lineup is in the following photos in the completed "Arcade Room" during a party we had after Christmas. Couches will be moved out as we acquire more pins. We did acquire a WOF pin since the party and put that where the F14 pin is. Time to move a couch or temporarily leave the F14 in another part of the basement. The F14 is the least played among family and friends anyway. Minimal progress ... in the spring I "should" have more free time to work on the rest of the basement game room and new bar.
Fellow game room enthusiasts... I could use some help on what type of switches to use for my game room build.
I’m building a two-story game room,… Anyways here’s a link to the thread and the problem I’m trying to sort out. Thanks amillion !

Can't go wrong with that duo. Looks like maybe you can fit a 3rd one and have a trio?

Not in that space. Optical illusion of the photos. I need a promotion and a bigger space just for games.
Here is my game room: What's nice about the game room is I have kept the cost down and that was my challenge. The big shot pinball- 100.00, Eight ball pinball- 400.00, Joust and Tempest together- 75.00, Pool table 400.00, Pachinko 25.00, all the signs and lighted beer signs about 25.00, Barista Table was given to me, 43 inch TV 4k- 200.00. So for about 1275.00 I have a game room. How low can you go and still have a nice room???

Your power meter must spin like a top when you fire that room up. I'd be interested to see how much juice that gr uses for an 8 hour party.

Actually, the power consumption is minimal. The room is about 99.5% LEDs including all the pins and bowlers. I'd guess about 1/5 of what it'd consume if it were all incandescent. The power hogs are most likely the CRT arcade machines, but there's only two of them.

I always wonder why you didn't finish the ceiling.

economical and lovely. Great job! And for the space you have, a perfect variety.

I think you win for how low you can go. Unbelievable how far you stretched that $1200. Joust and Tempest for $75 is amazing. Way to go!
I wanted to use the 9 ft. ceilings at their maximum potential. Painted the ceilings with flat black - 36 gallons! - and it maintains a game room atmosphere IMO. If I dropped the ceiling, I'd realize an 8 ft. maximum height, and less around the duct work. Tall ceilings always give you the spacious feel.

This is exactly why i have torn down my ceiling in my games room. It makes it feel so much bigger and for me it makes it a lot easier to get to all the plumbing and change/add electrical when i need to. I just need to paint mine black then it should look as good as yours!

You'd be suprised how much juice you use, without anything in my gr on the meter dial takes about 18 seconds to go around once. With 13 pins on, all led'd, black lights on, 2 arcade games on and 4 sub woofers on the meter wheel takes 2 seconds to go around once. No ac or sound system on either.

My ceiling is open and painted black too but what I really like about it is that it's easy to put lit pf's on the ceiling.

I have a "smart meter" that the utility company accesses thru RF. I also have a digital watt meter that I installed in the game room. I'm gonna take a snapshot of the meter with everything turned on, to see what it draws. Now you got me wondering. I installed that box but never put it thru the test. Typically, it sits at about 1.30 amps continuously, with about 14 small neon signs going 24/7, and maybe five LED-lit objects. That's the background lighting when the room isn't used. Here's the meter that I use. The pic shows 1.09 amps draw, less than 100 watts. This varies but not a lot, when the room is idle:

The other thing about not finishing ceilings is that you can add wiring and electrical easily. I originally put in 75 electrical outlets on every wall, and after the project was done, I added maybe 12 outlets on the ceiling for various other electrical things, lighting, and so on. Also, I added hundreds of feet of phone wire as an afterthought, all throughout the ceiling. Touch-up wiring with flat black rattle can spray and you'd think that wiring was put in before the room was finished.

How is the noise upstairs when the games are being played? Without anything insulating the noise, my unfinished basement is really easily heard....one of the main reasons I'd consider a finished ceiling as opposed to the painted look.
Noise is muffled, but pretty obvious. I have the volume down to decent levels on every game that makes noise, but still. Acoustical tile would help, but if you're upstairs while the action is going on downstairs, well, that's another issue...
Noise is consistent with activity.
"Here's Johnny!"
Unreal, and the winner is....................................
