Ha!
Now that you mention it, that'd be an interesting mod - a joint dispenser in place of the hopper. Land on 3 cherries, get a prize.

Quoted from Goronic:So you can have pot in your private collection in Colorado but not slot machines!? LOL
Yeah, I know, it seems slightly backwards when you look at it, doesn't it?
The reality is they're trying to keep gambling limited to the three former mining towns that it was legalized in. Part of that is the effort to keep people from using collection loopholes to run back-alley gambling operations out of their basements. As I noted, the "pre 1985" exception is the gimme for those who want a private slot machine collection, since those are unlikely to be really usable for the back-alley types anyway. At least, not in any sort of real volume, and since they'd be mostly mechanical, there's the extra maintenance to be considered on top of everything else.
I find it mildly annoying on one level: I've got a pachinko machine that is likely to be on the fence, and it would depend on who came in as to whether or not it's actually legal (no tokens, but it does have virtual reels, it would be a matter of how the law is interpreted). And it means I can't even look at pachislo (Japanese form of slots), except in simulation on a game console.
Well, those Bally E-series are pretty boring, but they do OK for a real slot. They are microprocessor based and work the percentages like the current slots in the casinos. And they're the closest you'll get to keeping it on the line legal.
Although I doubt very seriously that any authority within the state of CO would have even the slightest clue how to enforce the law. Probably never been challenged. Not a big issue either way and it's pretty safe to have really any slot.
Quoted from ramegoom:Although I doubt very seriously that any authority within the state of CO would have even the slightest clue how to enforce the law. Probably never been challenged. Not a big issue either way and it's pretty safe to have really any slot.
Yeah. Again, pretty sure it's just to keep the backalley idiots from trying to use "it's my collection" as a defense, and I doubt challenging that aspect would be high on a defendant's priority list. Plus, I'm pretty sure they'd have to actually receive a report and get a warrant and all that before I'd have to actually worry.
That said, since my husband and I do a YouTube channel, if I did get a slot in that didn't fit the laws, we couldn't feature it, and would probably want to keep it from being on camera, if only to avoid any... imperial entanglements.
Any place that would be running back alley gambling I would doubt have any other non gambling machines like you do.

"stains"?
Quoted from MustangPaul:That looks like a nice place you have, how big is it?
Minus the workshop/furnace room, about 800 sq ft. Its an odd layout but will get me a nice long row of 10 pins. I still need to move in the arcades and see what sort of space ill have to put the bar and hang neons.

That's a good size, your gonna have fun decorating.
Recent addition to my game room. Now I *realize* it's not coin operated, but the console is a Western Electric switchboard, an huge electrical gadget - the same thing you would see in the early days of telephone communication. It can use a telco outside line, but I don't have one, so the phones act as intercoms and can connect with each other. And also ring, but it has to go thru an operator at the switchboard to connect. This switchboard was removed from a motel in Colorado many years ago, and wound up in my space.
So yet another electro-mechanical gadget to fill in the blanks.

I would say thats false as I understand years ago that their was a operator that also ran illegal slots in backrooms. His business on the books was all pinball and arcades.

That's cool, is everything connected by the typical type of phone wiring? I see that you can buy those switchboards on Ebay, but they go for thousands!
Needed a project, so I turned to Craigslist. This switchboard was featured at an estate sale in August, apparently owned by a retired tel co employee. They had a price tag of $1000 on it, but no takers, and it was sitting in the middle of the living room. Apparently they didn't want to move it out, so I went there the last day of the three day sale, and they jumped at my offer of $200. Hauled it home, and it weighs probably 240 pounds. AND, it was totally complete and unmolested. Up until this point I knew absolutely nothing about it, and very little about hard-wired phones, but set out to learn as much as the internet would provide.
I joined an online phone forum asking many questions about how to wire it up. Got a great deal of help there from the old-timers who retired from the phone company. Surprisingly simple once you understand it. I had to put in a "66" punchdown block, two power supplies; one to make the bells ring, and the other, a 15 volt supply, to power the relays and lights, and voila! All works. Went Ebay shopping for phones, so I have 10 phones now hooked up to it, and no outside line. You call the "operator" by clicking the hook (makes the station button flash) then the operator answers by plugging in a jack, and connects your phone to whatever other extension you want. Really cool how it operates, just like years ago. Put all the wiring in the ceiling of the game room, as they all work on two wires each. Youtube has a video of it in operation - called a 551A Western Electric Switchboard.
Here are some images of the inside guts. The wiring is an absolute work of art:

Yeah not in the same room. I don't doubt that its true, Im just saying they wouldn't be mixed together in one room.
Just a heads up, all the Halloween stores are 50% off today if you wanted to grab some horror/spooky or black light effects. Picked up 18inch blacklights for $8 a piece.
Wow these game rooms are great!! I'm in the process of building one right now. Hopefully I'll have it done in a few more months.

Now put aluminum foil or chrome duct tap behind the bulb to reflect all the light out the front.

That’s totally awesome! I want to get one just to hire a switchboard girl to connect me to my wife when she calls me from the kitchen... (while my sons run around with walkie-talkies)
Quoted from Chosen_S:I want to get one just to hire a switchboard girl.
Be careful when interviewing switchboard girl applicants.
That's what got all those movie producers in their current trouble.

Right on man, do you have any documentation?

Went from 5 to 3.....had to.
But still very happy with the remainig 3.
Sorry to hear that, it's always tough to have to sell games but at least you've go 3 really good ones.
Rom
Game room is awesome 3 Great looking games.
If you do not mind me asking which 2 did you chop?
Sorry to hear about your loss.
I chopped the AS PRO and MUSTANG PREMIUM. Really enjoyed both but the others beat them in every way. Not too hard of a choice.

Those are 3 great pins! Wish I had the funds to upgrade my collection but still happy with what I have.
Did some rearranging so everything fits comfortably in my 9' x 10' room. Added a true widebody so lost a couple inches of valuable space but worth it 20171102_155232 (resized).jpg 20171102_155341 (resized).jpg20171102_155205 (resized).jpg

Sure would like to see AND hear a vid taken in that room. I've always wondered what your room sounds like with the games going and people talking. Does it echo much?

Quoted from Pugsley:Its not as fancy or roomy as most, but it works. I need to build an out building to make some more space and move the arcade out to it as this room is about full and cramped.
You've got some great games there but yeah it is cramped. How big of a building can you put on your property? What ya shootin for?
