Here's our temporary gameroom. Eventually, I hope the get the 30' x 50' heated garage empty enough that I can start creating my dream arcade in there.

I'm sure if you get rid of that race track you'll be able to fit a couple of games in there...

It does now. It took some TLC and I have it working nicely now. I purchased that from the Barn of Fun at Sea View Playland in Dennisport, Mass in 2008. I played that same exact machine since I was 11 years old. So that game has been part of my life for 37 years.

Your slot car rig is amazing. Is it lowered & raised with an electric winch? Or do you do it by hand? Man if I had that space and rig I would do something with trains.

Holy crap, great eyes...I looked at that picture a couple of times and never even noticed that the whole track lowered into position!

    #5959 3 years ago

Oh man, I missed that too.. that's brilliant! I have some micro RCs.. now I'm thinking about how I could do something like that in my garage.

thats so cool. Congrats on being able to buy it.

Yes, Carrera analog. The track is on cables and raises & lowers by pushing a winch remote control button. All kinds of pulleys and cables in the attic make it happen.

Hey thanks. Yes is it operated by a winch. It's a replica of the Catalunya circuit in Spain. I'm slowly gathering the materials to make the layout more realistic. It'll be a fun project.

That is bad ass. Any reason why you'll see that track to replicate?

I wish I could say it was my idea but the previous owner did the whole thing. He was/is a surgeon and had/has 2 young boys. He spared no expense entertaining them. I really don't know why he chose that track to replicate. He is a big car guy and has an F355 Ferarri and a mazerati that both used to live in this garage. We bought the house in january of 2015 and one of the stipulations was that he'd leave the track and all the cars. It does work and I've used it a few times.

Im still waiting for help to move em out of basement. Nobody want to help. lol

Left the Ferrari too haha! Seriously, that's cool. Giving me ideas for my patio now.

I had to move a bunch of pins from the overflowing big games room over to the newly carpeted garage today.

Decided to move all the EMs and the Williams Sys7s and 9s over there to join Hercules.

I also moved over 10 of the Sys11s for the Sys11 World Championship I am running here on the 13th March.

Thanks for the suckers eeeerrrrr volunteers that came down to help. Errol, JohnBoy, Dion, Paul, Mikey! Legends all of you. Cheers!

Question - where do you guys get the cool neon lights? I'd love to get a retro looking one that simply says "Arcade"...

    #5969 3 years ago

    Neon signs:

Go to Amazon. The site has many game room neon signs to choose from, price is decent, but it takes a while to get the item delivered.
    index_(resized).jpg

    #5970 3 years ago

There are lots of arcade/game room/pinball neon signs on eBay. Looks like they're all manufactured by the same company, sold by random resellers and then just drop shipped from China. Double check the size, since the same neons come in different measurements.

    #5971 3 years ago

You know, stuff like this should be lovingly treasured and archived. Many of us gameheads don't appreciate what we've lost until it's gone.

Latest images of my space. Still waiting on a few more neon signs, and I NEED to get those pictures hung. I just added a TZ to the pin lineup.
    img12_(resized).jpg

In spite of all the space, I am quickly running out of room. Happy camper right now. But, you know how that goes...

What does it sound like down there with everything going and lots of people? Or haven't you done that yet.

    #5977 3 years ago

I have all of the machines toned down, but yeah, it's loud. Gameroom style. And the upstairs, well, we don't use it when we're in the downstairs anyway.

I'm really liking the rumble of all those machines going. When the slots win, the clunk of coins hitting the coin tray adds to the "ambiance".

If you want something local (but not neon)...I almost went with metal cut-out letters (kinda like a giant cookie cutter of each letter, not just a flat piece of metal) from Hobby Lobby that spelled "Arcade" and I was thinking of ways to light them with LED's or something.

I made this one with some old wood and some tin letters I bought at Joann Fabric. They are wired together to run off a wall outlet instead of batteries. Not neon, but it gives the old carnival arcade feel.

It's been a while since I posted a photo of my game room. I finally got done building the two arcade cabinets, and put some stuff on the walls. Space is an issue so I went with one vertical and one horizontal multicade. All three pins have interactive undercab lighting, which goes well with the color changing table and chairs. Now I just need to figure out where I can make more space in the house....

(I've got to give credit to Mustangpaul for putting the undercab lighting idea in my head, Thanks!)

Thanks. That dark room looks really nice but may I make a suggestion? The white molding by the black ceiling makes the room height look low, if it were the same color as the walls the room would have the illusion of being taller and more spacious. That light up table is a killer, I wish I had room for one. Are those black lights in the ceiling?

    #5989 3 years ago

Counter point: I think it frames the room out nicely. A very clean look. I see what you're saying, but I think that was implemented excellently.
