I was meaning my commercial property builds .. I'm a property developer. Don't think anyone wants to see those here... Oh what the heck, here's one of those photos.
The pinball room build photos are in this thread already ... Go up the top to the TOOLS and search for my posts in this thread. The house started construction about 3 years back I guess.
    Sweet!

I would love to have my theater/arcade made with concrete walls...

My roughly 14'x23' basement room turned into Disco Dave's Pinball Parlor, which is ok. 50's, 60's and 70's EMs. A few empty spots to fill yet.
Edit: added 'before' pics I found.

I haven't got loads and loads of space like a lot of people in here (seriously, so jealous!) but I do try to make up for it with quality over quantity:

Thanks! Yeah I'm happy with it, WH20 is going in the next few months though and TZ is coming in, as much as I like WH20 I've enjoyed it and it's time to move it on.

28x16 from the bar to the windows.

Anybody use anything to protect the stairs (treads/flooring) while bringing games to a basement? I'm afraid to scratch up some nice finished wood stair treads taking a dolly down them. I've found tread coverings but they are all intended to be fixed in place permanently. Also came across plastic sheeting type stuff that would work better for carpet I think.

Only other idea I had was padded moving blankets...I can see myself tripping with those.

    Any ideas?

    #5880 3 years ago

You could make a slide out of plywood and lower the games down on their bottoms. I've done that before, works nice.

    #5881 3 years ago
    Quoted from Lonzo:

I was close. 2 rows of games will fit real nice in there, 14-16 pins with a nice walkway in between.

the way I am picturing that it sounds ultra-dangerous! This is with no dolly? What are the logistics of that move?

I'm good with a dolly, don't have any issues, just want to avoid scratching the stairs.

    #5883 3 years ago

That's why I said lower the games down on there bottoms not wheel the game down the ramp with a dolly. 2 guys on the rope or strap can slide the game down no problem and one 2 guys at the bottom can move it out of the way and start putting legs on while the 2 guys on top get another game ready. It took 4 guys about 2 hours to do it with 9 of my games.

I can do any game going down by myself with an appliance dolly. I've got it down to a science. Takes me a matter of minutes literally. I just need a way to protect a new set of stairs...

I see. I can't think of a way that won't move when a dolly is on it unless it's nailed in place then.

I was looking for an easy and interesting way for my kids to be able to turn on the games in the arcade......made this from old gun case.......9 circuits...3 contactors energized from liw voltage antique frankenstein switches.....each circuot has edison bulb for power indication and amprage meters.

The plastic sheeting for carpet works well. With wood stairs it's even more important to have some adhesion to the stairs... maybe kraft paper taped down?

I found several kinds of the plastic sheeting for carpets that has a "removable" adhesive backing...maybe I'll p/u some of that

Looks awesome. Not sure what liw means, but basically it's low voltage going through the Frankenstein switches that activates another switch that the 110v goes through?

    #5896 3 years ago

Yes, it iis only 24 v going through the exposed switches for safety. Each switch energizes a 3 pole contactor. 3 contactors....9 - 20amp circuits total.
