It's still a work in progress, but we're set up "enough" for our housewarming in two weeks.

We're a couple of inveterate board gamers here. And yes, I have kind of a thing for Pachinko too.

It currently resides in the Fort Wayne area. To respect the owner's privacy, I'll leave it at that .
More pictures from today. Getting a Valley table does not exactly happen very often, and seeing as how now this table will practically come with the house if we ever sell, I feel this is appropriate to share .

Here we go down the now reinforced stairs. I had six 2x4s in a 2 row by 3 column setup every 4 stairs supporting each side of the stairs as well as right up the middle.

Now they are measuring to make sure there is 60" around all sides of the table to allow for plenty of space when shooting a shot.

And here it sits - all 700 lbs. Rest assured, this table isn't going ANYWHERE now, and it isn't becoming my laundry table.

Hey your place is starting to fill up but you still have a lot of empty space. What's next? How's the noise level with all those reflective surfaces?

So the pictures aren't that good and the room is a mess but this is basically all I can fit in the basement. Building a detached garage which will have separate conditioned room to fit another 30 machines comfortably.

Thanks but man...I'll never catch up to you and when you get that garage built (how big) your place is REALLY gonna rock.

    #5390 4 years ago

Well the garage will be a 4 car that is 30' deep so the pins basically will be in a separate room behind the area for cars and such. Was going to make a apartment above but the dang local government (gotta love those guys and the red tape) won't allow another "residence" on my 10 acres. So, it will be officially labeled as office space and storage. Lol.

I never imagined when I started collecting that I would acquire so many pins. It looks to me like you'll get there. I love the hobby and seem to not like selling any of them after I buy. Idk... I'm sure I'm not the only one that has this issue. haha

I'm going to be finishing a 2000sq ft basement gameroom in a month or so and have a question for those with the led strip light accents: how do you wire them together? All the ones I see say only 16 foot and that's all it can handle. Do you just do them separate and the remote controls all of the separate strips? Will one remote work for separate strips? Thanks. It'll be months before I get to accent lighting, but I want to have my power outlets built in where needed. Here is the space I havel96e95f45-m16o.jpgl96e95f45-m17o.jpgl96e95f45-m15o.jpg

The noise level isn't bad and it gets better the more stuff I bring in. Lol

    #5393 4 years ago

Put the outlets in the ceiling and put them every 20 ft or so. Then the strip lighting power can be nailed to the rafters. You can also place lighted neon signs anywhere, keeping cords almost invisible. For that matter, all your pins can be powered that way, so there won't be any cords laying on the floor.

And, instead of hanging a ceiling, paint it all black. It will give you some ambiance, and the room will definitely be larger. If you hang a ceiling with all that duct work, it will detract from the game room IMO.

    #5394 4 years ago

Thanks for the advice. Do all the strip leds run on the same remote if they are powered seperate?

    #5395 4 years ago

I am redoing my basement now and have a question about power. lets say you have a 30 foot wall that you want to place pins against. How may outlets do you have and and what spacing?

    #5396 4 years ago

    Every 6 foot

    Quoted from Goronic:

You might have to check your local code.

    #5398 4 years ago

Refer to the NEC, National Electrical Code. Generally, the code requires one outlet every 10 ft. of linear wall MINIMUM. I can't find a specific maximum number of outlets in the code.

Of course, when you do a game room, you will want much more. I put mine every 48 in. at the 16 in. floor level, and also added upper outlets at 72 in. for various neon signs. When I did my build-out, I used a 100 amp sub-panel and added 15 circuits to the room, 15 amp breakers, and somewhere between 8-12 outlets per breaker. As far as code is concerned, there is really no maximum number of outlets per circuit, but 10-12 outlets is acceptable. I also boxed the support columns with 2 ft. x 2 ft. framing, and added one outlet per side.

Consider the power requirement for each pinball machine - I believe it's between 140 and 200 watts per machine. Older machines with incandescent lighting will draw much more power than the current-day LED loaded machines, or even an older machine retrofitted to LEDs. On my pinball wall, to be on the safe side, I put a 20 amp arc-fault breaker with 12 gage wiring throughout. I plan on putting 8 pins on that wall.

I replaced the required general ceiling lighting (6 ceiling lamps) with 14 can lights, all running 65 watt equivalent LED flood lights (they're 13 watts each) so the single 15 amp breaker has no problem running those lights, and if needed, I can add more. Plus there is considerably more light produced compared to the base system.

Since you're doing it from scratch, you will have a lot of flexibility placing electrical outlets and switches. Remember, more is better. Lots more is better-er.

    Quoted from Goronic:

Excellent question. I'm finishing my basement right now too and am almost done with the framing. I've been trying to determine my electrical layout and haven't decide how to wire up the pins. I've read that you're only supposed to run 4 pins off a single 20 amp circuit, which would be a ton of 20 amp circuits for the space I have laid out. Everything is jammed into a spare bedroom right now and I'm pretty sure all 6 pins, along with my popcorn machine are running off the same circuit. I think the lights in the adjoining bathroom are on the same one too because they dim when I have a bunch of people over playing.

Anyway, is that what everyone is doing that has large collections, 4 pins per 20 amp circuit? So basically I need one circuit for every two outlets?

    Quoted from ramegoom:

and added 15 circuits to the room, 15 amp breakers, and somewhere between 8-12 outlets per breaker.

How many pins do you run per circuit? I was also considering adding outlets up high (or at least running the wire in the wall in case I need it later for signs, TV, etc. Are those on a separate circuit?

I'm going to run out of room in my panel real quick when I combine the machines, the Home Theater and the life support system for the fish tank.
