I spent a couple of hours looking at these game rooms last night. They are just unreal! My wife and I just bought a house in Upland, CA. a few months ago. The deal was I got the loft and the garage, while she could decorate the rest of the house. I highly recommend not moving games up a stair case with a corner. Those things were such a bitch to get up there. I'm dreading this weekend because I'm moving my first pin upstairs with a broken foot. There is still some work to get done, but the arcade is getting there.

No pinheads around that can help you move the pin for you? Good luck to you getting it to the arcade.

Yea Captive Ball, I'm already rethinking about this weekend. It's not the right time. I'm just eager to get my first pin up there. The little kid in me will have to wait. Thanks for checking out my pics. They are nothing compared to you guys though! Damn those are inspiring!

Haven't posted much here for a while of my little game room. Friend and his son stopped by last night and wanted to play.

Mustang Paul, I was worried about the same thing and had a long talk with a home inspector about that very issue. He told me, just to keep the games next to the walls and not in the middle. It was funny because he thought I was joking at first until he saw my games in the garage.

That's what I was thinking. You should really check on this. Maybe get an home inspector familiar the builder, or even contact the builder.

I was worried about it too. My Uncle Mike has his own construction company and he inspected the loft for while and said it was fine. He said the trouble people get into with home arcades is when they place the games back to back In the middle of an upstairs room. The weight of the machines need to be distributed evenly at the walls. It hasn't been an issue. Thank goodness!

Wow now that's a nice looking basement you got there sparechange1974 . Very classy. I wish Ca had basements. Have one like that in MI , but too much snow so I stay where there sun sets instead.

My machines are up in the attic.
Was worried also, but like you said distribute them a long side the walls..... but my constructor said, don't have too much people up there as well (they are not by the walls ...)

This side of my basement has room for 9 pins along the wall with LOTR. If I move my game collection, that would be 4 more pins I think.

Right now i installed a ton of recessed lighting and did some temp wiring to see how bright it is down there. Before it used to be 3 single light bulbs for this side of the basement, now i'm going on 16 I think.

My game room is still a work in progress. Got a few pins setup on the first isle to show off my tiny collection. Looks decent I guess, not the best collection but gotta start somewhere. Ok...that's not mine, but I was at the arcade expo in Banning, CA yesterday and just had to show one of the pics I took, my jaw dropped at that place, and that's just one isle of many not to mention them have a separate arcade room! Was definitely in heaven

It's finally time I add to this already awesome thread. Not quite the basement man cave, more like a sauna here in So Cal with the heat! Pins are in my garage trying to stay cool.

For those of you with pool tables near your pins, aren't you afraid that a hard break could send the cue ball flying off the table? I've been thinking about getting a pool table, but this is something that concerns me.

I have the Batman in the path of a "fly ball" right now(and yes there would be reason to worry where it sits), but it will be moved if the pool table was being used by someone other than myself or wife. We don't play that much so I chose to showcase BDK as I love the cabinet artwork. As long as you have your pins on the opposite side of the break shot and 6 feet of distance from edge of table, there should be no problems. Not sure what others have experienced.

My table is about fifteen feet from the pin so no worries, that ball would really have to fly. Much more likely is the air hockey puck, when we play serious air hockey I cover the pin with a blanket.

We have had a pool table for 5 years now, and I have never had that happen. Now, my pins aren't near the table, but I would have no issues if they were. I have seen that happen only once at my in-laws, but not on a break shot, and the ball was only in the air for like a foot, and you would lkely not have pins that close anyway.

Maybe others are way better at pool and have this happen? I just don't see it as an issue, but I could be wrong.

It's probably not an issue for most people. I used to play a lot of pool back in the day, and I break REALLY hard. If the ball accidentally gets some air, it can go flying off the table very far.

    #5193 8 years ago

sparechange, that game room looks awesome! I hope you and the family can enjoy that for years to come....I speak from experience that it is a very, very small chance that a break will hit your game (BM) in a way that will shatter the glass. Have fun! Nice line up!

    Quoted from Colsond3:

Looking for a new house, so unfortunately I've recently downsized my collection. Still holding onto a few good ones though, and going to rebuild once I have more space, and enough area to really put a good multi-theme game room together. Sold my BSD, and hated every minute of it.

Just closed on my house this week and I have a blank slate to work with. My basement walks out to the driveway so I have easy access which is great. It's currently split into 3 rooms, the first being a 700 sq foot finished section with a full bath. It's dated but will work for now while I work on the other sections. The other 2 sections total about 1100 sq feet. I am going to frame in the utilities and then remove the wall opening up the other 2 rooms, connecting them by a door to the finished room. Eventually the back 2 rooms will be dedicated for my pins/arcades while the current room will be remodeled into the entertainment room and bar.

Man all you people with your basements and your tons of spacious room. All my wife gave me was a 12 ft x 12 ft room. LOL. It will fit what I currently have though which makes me happy. Hopefully in a few years I can save up to get a man-cave / garage built out here.

Seriously though. Some of these game rooms are just amazing.
