More progress of the house. As before, since this is a game-room specific thread, I will refrain from spamming with home photos. Here is where the soon to be finished basement is as of today:

In this picture, I am standing where my drumset will be. This is a straight on shot viewing the entire finished area of the basement. Pool table will go to the left of the foot of the stairs (if you are standing on the stairs, THAT left).

    Picture_002.jpgPicture_002.jpg

Another angle of the same thing.
    Picture_004.jpgPicture_004.jpg

The area where JM, BSD, and ACDC LED Pro will go. A 4th game will follow. That will pretty much be the cut-off for me.
    Picture_005.jpgPicture_005.jpg

Shot of what will be the media room. I am working on what to do in here. Maybe a big screen LCD on the wall with all my 90's consoles (3DO, CD-i, etc) in a media center and a wireless surround sound system for movies/games/some sports parties. We'll see.
    Picture_007.jpgPicture_007.jpg

Up close shot of the media room.
    Picture_008.jpgPicture_008.jpg

Standing in the media room doorway looking back at the basement. Directly in front of this shot is where the Valley coin-operated pool table will be.
    Picture_011.jpgPicture_011.jpg

And finally, another shot of where my pins will reside.
    Picture_013.jpgPicture_013.jpg

And for those of you wondering, here is where the progress of the home's exterior is currently:

    20150904_200627.jpg20150904_200627.jpg

Yep, it's a 3 car garage. One stall for my wife's 2006 Mustang, one for my 2012 fully electric, zero gas used Nissan LEAF, and one for the Turbo VR6 engine DeLorean.

    #5002 8 years ago

Gee that looks nice. To bad ya don't have a flat driveway, nothin like washin the car on a flat driveway.

    #5003 8 years ago

Nice...we've built two houses and Designing a game room from scratch in a custom finished basement is quite exciting.

    #5004 8 years ago

More work has been done to the new home and the basement. As usual, I'll keep it to just the gameroom/basement:

Drywall now up in the media room.
    Picture 015.jpgPicture 015.jpg

Standing in the media room, facing the rest of the basement.
    Picture 017.jpgPicture 017.jpg

Drywall up in the area for where the pins will go.
    Picture 018.jpgPicture 018.jpg

Shot of the rest of the basement. This would be if you were standing with your back facing the pins.
    Picture 019.jpgPicture 019.jpg

Here is a shot of the exterior of the home as of Saturday. More brick has been put up now. Siding will start going on later this week.
    Picture 014.jpgPicture 014.jpg

We plan to close 8-9 Oct with a tentative move-in date of 12 Oct. I'll be moving the pins myself if you're wondering.

Still need about 8 pins, 2 hydro thunders, and the big ball bowler - but getting there!

Not sure if this is your first new house or not, but if you can...I strongly encourage you to paint all the rooms before you move in if the builder isn't doing final paint colors for you.

Makes the job a lot easier.

Actually, when we did the basement a few years later I did the final painting before our contractor put down the carpet.

    #5007 8 years ago

image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg small but fun. Work in progress. I have plans to take over extra bedroom a couple in a loft with kids tv, and my moms new home extra bedroom and half of her garage. Should have around 20 pins one day . One glorious day!

Yep, my wife and I were just talking about this today. We do plan to paint before the pool table comes in. The pins can be scooted away from the wall and covered in tarps, so yeah, painting will definitely occur early. Thanks for the looking out!

Good plan, I had the luxury of a few weeks to paint the house and I needed most of it.

Try to get the pool table light up before putting in the table if you can. I had to hang around it which wasn't easy.

More looking out on your part. Thanks ! We have like - I think - eleven lamps in the basement ceiling, so putting in a pool lamp would have cast a shadow on the table. So we opted no pool lamp, which is a crying shame cause I really wanted one, but when you have 11 lamps in the ceiling (don't quote me, I think it is 11), hey - that's enough .

Do you mean recessed pot lights in the ceiling? We put in eighteen, six per 'zone' plus one each at the top and bottom of the stairs. The ones around the pool table go around the perimeter, but the dedicated three bulb light that hangs over the table is very important for proper lighting. If it's not too late I'd consider adding a flush lighting receptacle to mount a light later. We also put the pot lights on dimmer switches. My pics are a page or two up from this post.

Still my favorite and lovingly drama-free thread on pinside. My turn to post. I was going to wait until it was done-done but I've come to realize that it will never happen... Always more to do. A couple more games in the garage to add and bunches of stuff to add to the walls. Pretty current minus the just added popcorn cart. As you can tell I'm big into branding my gameroom. This along with hundreds of other images flash on the TV screens throughout the space.

Where did you find those quarter floor mats? Those things are so cool. I tried Google and couldn't find them.

Moved all of my machines to their new room. Now I just have to started on lighting and wall art.

    image.jpgimage.jpg

    #5026 8 years ago

I appreciate all of the thumbs up. All of these machines have been fully restored by me. Regrained all of the SS, the coin doors look brand new. The Big Deal and Strato have repainted cabinets, other two, just touch ups. All of the heads have been repainted. I love Williams 70's EM's, as you can see. Have room for only two more, a Grand Prix and undecided. I have a dozen EM and early SS playfield's that I plan to spruce up and put on the walls and ceiling. I also have 6 mint 50's Bingo backglasses that I may add. I painted the walls and ceiling a midnight blue. My wife at first freaked out when I painted the ceiling, but when she saw it with the machines, she understood and said it looked great.

Game room pins will be re-located in the new project, sometime around early November. Line-up of the pins:
    basement002.jpgbasement002.jpg

These will be spread out and integrated in the new room. Old house slot room:

Those are interesting chairs. Looks like something you would see in the waiting room of a doctor's office.

I can never justify the space for arcades over pins, but I respect those that do.

Well, I guess one machine still makes it a game room.
