Quoted from Monster_Bash:I haven't had CC debt since 1998 or a car payment since 1996. Having debt of any kind bugs the living shit out of me.
That's a good thing. That's the first step average income earners can do to build wealth and live a less stressful life IMO. The day I decided to quit messing around with credit cards was the day my life drastically improved.
The book "Millionare Next Door" explains it pretty well. The author studied the habits of people with at least a million dollars in assets and it wasn't always people with high income. One of the things they discovered is that most achieved it by staying away from debt like car notes and credit cards. They also discovered that there are many relatively high income earners that have little wealth and it all boiled down to their spending and overall financial habits.
